Unfortunately that yellow (ridiculous) so early in the game maybe affected how he could have played throughout the game. I agree he's great and he was exactly what we have missed in midfield.

I would say Matic actually he was in beast mode he stopped and won the ball back loads of times

 

 

Matic definitely played better than last season but he is not in beat mode yet. He was very spotty. When he hits beast mode under Conte, you will see it and you will know it.

Gary Neville is spot on about Hazard, don't stop playing after you score 1 goal. If Hazard removed this part of his game, he could easily get up there with the very best.

That booking for 'dissent' is a stupid rule, what classifies dissent? Seems like any form of somewhat raised voice is a booking, Costa was hardly screaming in his face. There's going to be a lot of very soft red cards this year for all teams.

Great, great performance. Cahill(MOTM), Kante despite the yellow, Diego, Hazard, Dave... couldn't be better. Oscar was great too, yeah he made some mistakes but for the most of the time he was in the match - it's important for him not to cover himself. Ivanovic surprised me - what a character, what a charisma. He doesn't deserve the offensive language he got from the people last season. He is a legend. Fact. Maybe next time Fabregas in and Matic out and hope no yellow cards for N'golo from minute 2..

Did you notice that certain members only turned up to the match day thread when West Ham equalised ? I'm all for people having an opinion, even have a go at the team when it's deserved, but some seem to only turn up when things go wrong.

Great win,surprised to see people say our defence was poor again as I thought we were much more solid and barely gave them a sniff. Oscar and Kante played well in midfield, matic still of the pace. Hazard has a game of 2 halfs, thought he was excellent 1sr half but reverted back to last seasons wandering and powder puff stuff 2nd. Ref was atrocious as expected,books Costa for talking but lets Carroll of for the exact same thing. Also standard no penalties as usual. Costa was lucky to stay on, but after the sh*t we got last season I'll take it. Hope it pissed the gypos right of that it was Costa who won it for us ha ha. Back in your caravans you c**ts.

Bad challenge from Costa on the keeper, but Jamie makes it out like he's deliberately done that, when he was going for the ball.

Umm ... why the negativity so early ?  Our victory against a  strong West Ham was more deserved than the victories of either Manchester Clubs over a much weaker opposition. Do u really rate Sunderland and Bournemouth to be as good as West Ham ? Also, while it is true that we were not that creative, you have to admit that the introduction of Batshuyai and Moses did help in increasing the consistency of our attacks. We were the better team if not by that much. Also I have not seen anything from either MAnchester Clubs to see that they will be better than what they played yesterday. But, we know they will play better and we know that we too will play better. A great CB or 2 and we are title bound.
