Chelsea Vs West Ham (PL) Mon 15/08/ 2016 KO 20:00 GMT

We definitely deserved to win this one, dominated the game for 70+ minutes until their goal ( missed it so I couldn't comment on it). Conte throw caution into the wind and got the result in the end. Kante's debut was so encouraging, protected the central defence, covered for the fullbacks when they were pushing forward, and delivered quality balls out of defence. He even made Matic look good without the defensive shackle. We looked energetic and hungry, and confidence is definitely coming back with the likes of Hazard and Costa. I can't remember the last time we won a game at the death, such a great feeling. Funny that all the pundits could talk about was how poor WestHam was, and Costa should have been sent off. Make no mistake, Westham is a good team playing away, they will get plenty of points on the road.

1 done, 37 more to go.

I still haven't seen the incident that Kante got yellow carded for just 3 minutes into his Chelsea debut. Does anyone have a link please ?  Three bloody minutes into the opening game of our season, it must be some kind of record surely ?

This is a player who only received 3 yellow cards in a whole season whilst playing for Leicester.

Screw you premier league fanzine! Emailed in a question for big Mark Schwarzer and they didn't even put it to him. w**kers.

Was it "do you think you're the best Australian Premier League keeper called Mark?"

Quality performance tonight, Kante reminds me of a non stop Makka, Eden was buzzing again, Costa was well just Costa, Terry and Cahill didn't look that flustered, minor tweaks to this team, hopefully Cesc gets back in....

Hah, it was about Tim Cahill. Guess they don't touch matters outside the PL.

f**k it though, I'll keep emailing it in every time he's on.

I'm searching high and low for any sort of highlights programme on the BBC for our game tonight but apparently nothing ? I pay my license fee, not happy.

On a positive note well pleased with the result.

There never is anything from the BBC for Monday games. No conspiracy.

BQ has is your hubbie taking the result? bitter that DC finished the match?

Just little digs here and there, saying we always get in the refs face, Costa's tackle was a straight red, basically saying Costa was showing his nasty side throughout the game. Costa was tame today, we have seen far worse from him and far worse from the likes of Rooney who always get's away with it.

But to my surprise he did say that the free kick on Carroll wasn't one and Gaz was fouled from the corner.  I was so surprised at that, I didn't hear all the other crap!

Just got back from the game. Was right behind the away dugout, reading through the match day thread it seems like I was at a different game!! It took ten minutes to get into having control of the game sitting deep. We didn't let them have any major chances, players who get slaughtered on here played well and we were well organised. With the ball we had 3 at the back with Dave going wide forward with Hazard and it confused them. We actually played different formations depending on how the game was going. Conte also went 2 up top at 1-1 so he is going to reactive to getting a result if we have a blip in the game.

Keep the faith C O Y B

He was complaining about Oscar diving but went quiet when I accused Carroll of the same!  He said there didn't need to be contact for a raised foot  to be given but I queried why Carroll was holding his head pretending to be hit when he wasn't.  Very very quiet when Costa scored.....

Just heading home now...what a great night at the bridge...early days, don't want to get carried away...just great to see players fighting for the shirt again...and it all comes from the manager...starting to love this guy already...still has neat control too judging by that lovely lay-off to Bilic in the first half!!!

I couldn't watch this game unfortunately.

But I'm glad to hear that we won and played well, even though West Ham were both undermanned and undercooked.

Nice strike by Costa at the end. A real clinical finish, but apparently he was running into cul-de-sacs for most of the game.

I loved Conte's reaction to the winner.

On twitter there were a few CFC fans complaining about Dave's raised boot, but I found this pict from beIN Sport to provide a factual bit of evidence of the play

Let's be real here...we played well in patches but ultimately we lacked creativity from the midfield and Conte got lucky...you can do as many Mr Grimsdale impersonations as you like Conte but I haven't seen anything yet to that says we'll compete against wither of the Manchester teams

FFS...after what we saw last season, how can you be so negative after we get off to a winning start...sure it's early days, but enjoy it for what it was - a good win against those tossers

Carroll gets away with it, ref buys the foul and pundits don't complain, because he's a ‘classic English forward’, I thought at the time it was a dive, glad I'm right.

Thought the crowd was right up for the game, really getting behind team.

Conte clearly has the players putting in max effort and a lot more ideas then hiddink or Jose showed last year. Well done.

We will face far sterner challenges, but I liked what I saw on the day.
