I would love Conte to pick up the title, would be a big achievement to beat that Juventus squad.

I think he can do it, and what an achievement that would be. They finished 21 points behind Juventus last season and are ahead of them now.

Sarri however, isn't doing so great. Disliked by several Juventus-supporters already.

I'm sure he doesn't mind several supporters disliking him out of a fan base of millions.

Yeah so good he cant get a game in front of Azpi a Rb playing LB.

Can't wait to see more of him. 😉

You're right, we've done so much better since Dave played LB! Got ran ragged by Walcott bless him.

Certainly Alonso has his weaknesses but at least he does contribute with goals and he is one of the tallest in the squad which could help defending crosses. Azpi and Palmieri have contributed nothing, so for me i thought i would never say this but Alonso should be first choice for now.

No, he was dreadful just before he was dropped. Azpilicueta has been fine playing there until the game against Everton. Long term, we do need a new LB, but in the short term, I would prefer Azpilicueta to play there over the other two.

A LB shouldn't be judged on scoring goals lmao.

If you want to compare goals conceded then Alonso also fares better.

Also a team effort. Got to look at individual ability and i think the majority of Chelsea fans agree Alonso has been the worst of the three options for some time now and not suited to this brand of football.

Who was it earlier this season we played at the bridge, they parked the bus and we won with a Marcos goal and a (very rare) clean sheet? Newcastle?

Another game that screamed "Alonso could make the difference" in. Since playing Emerson is hardly helping us to keep clean sheets and offering us 0 going forward, I wonder how Alonso would have done with that header?

If we have to rely on a goal from Alonso to win a game like this, we really are in trouble.

But we did rely on him in the past for making these sort of goals. It is a team effort to win games and only because a LB scores dosent mean something is wrong or we are in trouble.

Also Alonso has more leadership qualities and experience than Emerson.

Emerson is just too nice, he rarely does something special, he is just "there" and makes his game. Never seen him talk or command his area.

In all honesty we really do need another left back, whether we get one is another matter.

Alex Telles would be my pick. I still don't know why we haven't made contact with him. I am still unsure about Emerson tbh.

This season Telles' stats are:

12 apps, 4 goals, 4 assists

18/19 season he got:

33 apps, 4 goals,  8 assists

17/18 season:

30 apps, 3 goals, 13 assists.

As you can see, some impressive stats for a LB.

Personally, if we could, I would splash out on Telles and Bruno Fernandes. Bruno Fernandes would likely be a target for summer, so for now Telles and Zaha.

Here's something I hadn't realised ...  Alonso has started 5 PL games this season .. and we have won ALL of them ... !!!

I do think it's partly coincidence but at the same time I do think we miss him in games like these where there's not much defending to be done.

He shouldn't play against any big team though.

It's hard to call 5 for 5 a coincidence, when our team is 4-2-6 in the premier league matches Emerson starts. It's fairly shocking 14 points in 12 games with Emerson, and 15 in 5 with Alonso. While Alonso has had some easier matches, Bournemouth, WH, AV, and Everton are his last 4.

Doubt it, blokes finished.

this game was tailored for Alonso.

And he would have finished Emerson's Chance.
