As much of the ball they've had the 2 best chances in the game were made by us. 

Still appreciate the challenge they're giving us, give Conte more food for thought about the players and this formation.

I think the formation is fine, we just need to get hold of the ball more and not panic so much. I think we improved towards the end of the half, we seen much more of the ball.

Not the best half

Good first half, after the early goal we don't need to force things. It may be 'boring' but Southampton are a good side and we've nullified them. Hopefully more of the same second half.

Great goal, but we are well off the beat, first 5 mins was great, hopefully conte will get them to push on after teh break, not liking this sit back stuff, we dont need to do it, they are all over us all over the pitch, costs should have put us 2 up and probably out of reach, poor finish. 

So far they haven't really had a clear cut chance yet. Though it's risky hanging on at 1-0.

I think it's a good half, we're leading and we don't let them create dangerous chances. Their most dangerous chance to score is a corner at the moment, but Tadic and Redmond can't dribble and they don't have freedom. I afraid we will lose focus in the defence, we have to score another one in the second half. Every our attack ends with a shoot, which should support us to attack more. I'm happy with the result, we should come stronger and focused more to the second half.

We've looked well organised, our back three communicate so well. Still nervous when the ball's near Alonso, but generally we've looked solid defensively and a threat on the counter.

More of the same and we'll see this out.

They dominated the ball that half, no doubt about it, but we created the most dangerous chances and got a goal from one of them. Costa should have buried his chance, it would have taken off the pressure, but if you offered me this at half time, i would have taken it.

Hopefully we get more control of the ball in the 2nd half, we need to take some of the pressure off.

People have to give Southampton credit there a good team especially at home. Imho we are doing ok. Had the best chances so far and leading and keeping a clean sheet.

Southampton did start losing the ball a lot more in the last 10-15 minutes. Prior to that, every time we touched the ball, they pressed super hard, and got the ball back (and proceeded to not do much with it). Imagine they started to tire a little at the end of the half.

We should be counterattacking them alot more, but for that to happen we need to pressure them alot better inside our own half and attack the second balls. Instead of breaking up play we have been giving them freekicks, hopefully that changes in second half.

How the formation worked in previous matches is irrelevant. I feel we are struggling to keep the ball, Soton is winning the tactical game despite the scoreline. We have to change something and control the game more.

We are really sloppy on the ball today. Need more composure. When we have space we are making the wrong choices.

I feel like i have chelsea back, chelsea don't concede we are build on that its our DNA in this era, I'd rather not concede and win by a goal than out score them but concede 2 or 3, I loved the days when teams like Barca would throw it all at us and I'd be entertained and confident we would keep them out no problem. This team is looking hard to break down, kante is mostly consistent if Matic keeps playing like he is and with Kurt on his way back we are going to be hard to beat, Alonso looks a bit shaky I think that's what we should look for in Jan.

What's so difficult of keeping possession? There is always a time limit for opposition's aggressiveness, we just need to play it calmly, not to rush out our passing... We need to cut down the blind long ball passing from the back, surrender possession way to easily..

Scrappy game, won't be complaining if it ends 1-0.
