I'm confident we will bounce back and win the next 2 games. I'm not even going to worry how Spurs play, we just need to turn our chances into goals an cut out the complacencies in defence. We have conceded quite a number of 'soft' goals lately, I think complacency has kicked in. Sometime the players have to lose a game to wake up, and now we had that.

I understand why some of us are a bit on edge at the moment. If this was the years where we had Lampard, Terry, Drogba, the 2 Cole's, Makelele, Essien, Cech, we would all be very confident that they would get us over the line. But we have experienced this current group completely capitulate under any kind of pressure only last season. I'm not saying it's going to happen again, but after any setback, this will be on people's minds. There will always be that doubt in some fans minds until we win something again.

Not really. We'd still be sh*tting our pants (and regularly did) and overestimating the risk to our situation.

As far as I'm concerned the title is still done and dusted. That's why we had a ten-point lead. If we don't win the title from here on in it we wouldn't have deserved it.

It's not just one game though, we have been making mistakes in defence for a while now. We haven't kept a clean sheet since January in the league. Pretty much all of our goals conceded are coming from poor defensive errors too.

What were the defensive errors on Saturday?  Zaha's hit and hope that went through two players' legs and which he couldn't do again if you gave him a hundred goes and a stuffed penguin if he managed it, or a bit of ricochet/pin-ball that bounced luckily to a Palace player and could easily have gone anywhere else?

Three shots all game they had, and the run of luck they had was immense.

I remember in 05/06 when United got it back to 7 with Sunderland at home coming up and it caused a similar reaction to this.

Attacking wise Palace wasn't lucky. They was a threat all afternoon. Not including the two goals, they had a one on one, missed a chance near the end that just went over the bar and had two dangerous set pieces one which nearly went straight in and the other needed someone to just tap it in. They also got into many dangerous situations like when Cahill got booked. They was a constant menace going forward.

City were absolutely atrocious on the left today. I reckon Hazard would be delighted at the sight of that. He'll have a field day on Wednesday.

Certainly hope so.

Oh come on!  Three shots on target all game.  You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time talking down our team and talking up any opposition.  I personally find it a bit distasteful, but than that's me.

Well after watching the whole 90mins and not just judging on looking at 3 shots on target I thought Palace was a threat going forward.

Your being just abit over the top. There's no harm in giving Palace abit of credit who did get some luck defensively but Sakho was immense. Zaha looked good going forward and Palace got in some good positions where there final ball was poor.  Just because you don't get a shot on target in every situation doesn't mean it wasn't a dangerous situation.

That's not really true. Anyone can pump crosses  or final balls into their forwards from deep, but if they don't result in shots then they're just wasted possessions.

Palace obviously deserve a lot of credit for being one of the few teams to actually execute their game plan, and they made the most of their "luck", but I think calling them effective in attack is a bit of a stretch. They didn't need to be, because their defensive game plan took the agency out of our attacking one. They didn't need to control us, but merely to reduce our effectiveness to a point where mere chance was a factor and that in itself is not a small feat.

You don't understand me. There can be plenty of dangerous situations that don't result in a shot or even a shot on target. So Costa's header from 6 yrds wasn't a dangerous situation because his header wasn't on target.

Zaha beating Cahill to the ball was a dangerous chance for them but Cahill has to take him out.

I wasn't even talking about a pumped ball into the forwards like the Wimbledon of old. Even though they made that very effective.

After looking at both goals again at the weekend I could see plenty of errors in each goal.

It's quite easy for someone to say well it went through someone's legs so it was just luck. That goal could of been better defended before the shot.

The second was calamity really.

No knee jerk from me before someone fires off. Just looking at the two goals from one match. Conte is the best man to iron out the errors.

Their first goal came from a poor clearance and 3 defenders failing to even put a tackle in before Zaha got his shot away. The second goal came from the defence being incredibly open so soon after conceding the first goal.

Like I said before, I find it a bit distasteful that you spend a great deal of time talking us down and our opposition up.  I'll leave it at that.

His shot was a hit and hope, head down mis-hit pop that he got incredibly lucky with.  On any other occasion it would have hit one of the legs and bounced harmlessly away. Or are you trying to tell me that flash-in-the-pan Zaha  actually MEANT to play that through the legs of two players, mis-hit it slightly so that it span away from Tibo and wasn't as surprised as anyone else when it went in?

The second was initially given away up field and a long ball bounced around for a bit before bouncing off either Luiz or Kante (I think).  Nothing either could have done about that, and as it happened, it went to Zaha rather than Tibo or out for a corner or any of the thousands of other sfae places it could have bounced to.  Two very lucky goals, a stonewall penalty not given and our total domination without making the most of that.

Zaha's goal didn't look like a hit and hope to me. Looked like he aimed for that corner. The ball was given badly away from Pedro. When the ball got to Zaha he had 4 defender's round him.

Ball given away and Chelseas defence looked stretched to me. Luiz and Kante could of done better.

Once Palace went in front they wasn't really going to to gung ho anyway.

Seeing errors in both goals doesn't mean your not a fan. I'm not even that bothered but just agreeing with people who said their was errors rather than thinking both goals was luck.

One thing I will say is, if we'd won the game Sat to go 7 pts clear the media would be saying it's virtually over. Shows a bit of perspective.

Its all about momentum and when you compare both ours and spurs fixtures, it looks more favourable for them to at least close the gap further.

Nice to win the league with games to spare but not always possible, remember 2010, Chelsea top 86 points, Man U 2nd 85 points, went to the last match at home vs Wigan,

lots of nervy shed enders at the time, Chelsea won 8-0, in football anything can happen, so lets just be happy there's a 7 point lead today

The last loss was more worrying because it was at home. But me, I'll just calm down. In Conte I trust.

We were so much better than United that season, it went to the last day because of complete complacency.
