December 26, 20169 yr My first Boxing Day match for a few years and loved it, just got back in time for MOTD in 40 years of going to The Bridge this is probably equal in terms of teams to what I will call the Duff and Robben era. In hindsight, and there is not one person on this forum or in the world of football who could have taken last years relegation threatened team and added Alonso and Luiz and bought on fringe players like Pedro and Moses and made a team like this. I am still in two minds, luck or genius ? Or was Jose really that bad last season ? Anyway long may it last, been a fan too long to know it won't so prepare yourselves on the other hand enjoy while you can Merry Christmas all and a Conte new year

December 27, 20169 yr Felt this game showed why fab struggles in this systemFront three were a pleasure to watch today Pedro and Willian great but Hazard is fantastic. Clearly enjoying his football and that on target rabona shot shows the spirit. I think Batman will struggle to get in the team this season, and I won't be surprised if we buy another forward in January.
December 27, 20169 yr Overall, It was a good display, even though Bournemouth were pretty good at pressing and keeping possession. I think Fabregas is suited more infront of a kante-matic pairing. protecting the midfield. You could see he struggled at times in wining back balls and breaking up play.
December 27, 20169 yr 12 wins in a row! Conte proving why he is the best manager on the planet! Another great team performance, Hazard and Pedro were a joy to watch, outstanding!
December 27, 20169 yr Easy peasy cherry squeezy Great time for Hazard and Pedro to step in - without the goals of Diego and the total control of the pitch of N'golo. Amazing performances for both of them. The first goal was very important, without it, the game would be very nasty but fortunately we've got Pedro - amazinig finisher. Is Moses a brother of Kante? The way they are running without any sign of exhaustion makes me think that. Alonso covered his zone very well. Garry, David and Cesar - impressive as usual. Matic and Fabregas - not good enough I think. 46-54 lost possession - should be better. Yeah, we got lucky to score early and to wait for mistakes, but without the secure Kante gives, more possession was necessary. But doesn't matter, they were good enough in the defense. Looking forward to meeting Mordor. Edited December 27, 20169 yr by Pendergast
December 27, 20169 yr Next is at HOME v Stoke and City plays Liverpool. Our win and a draw there would be fantastic for us!

Pretty sure they were told to sit back a littlebit when Bournemouth had the ball which they were allowed to for quite large periods of the game yesterday. Without Kante, Bournemouth had better legs then us in central midfield and there could have been dangerous situations on the break for them if we had Matic and Cesc pressing high as we usually do with Kante in there.
December 27, 20169 yr Sitting back is fine when it works. Saves legs. Different story when it doesn't work. Moses must be loving this season. Crossed the Nile and entered the promised land so to speak,
December 27, 20169 yr Think we got away with it yesterday. Delighted with the 12 match winning run, but I feel a better team would have took advantage of our lack of intensity in midfield. The scoreline is what counts but very disappointing to see us have 44% of the ball at home to an inferior side. Didnt keep it well enough or work hard enough high up the pitch to win it back earlier. Think we will beat stoke, but fear for us against Spurs.

Tottenham on january 4th looks set to be the biggest game of the season so far though for me. If we beat Stoke and manage to keep our winning run going past Spurs at WHL aswell then that would be huge for our season. I'm not better than hoping for a knock or two on some of Tottenhams best players or suspensions before that one.

Cesc and Matic just doesnt work. Cesc is not mobile enough without the ball, and Matic is not quick or crisp enough with the ball. Will take a point away at Spurs for sure.
December 27, 20169 yr I hope everyone had a great Christmas....A good game yesterday but a game we would be expected to win, with or with Costa and Kante. I thought the entire team was up for it at the off and the front 3 were buzzing, my concern was and still is Cahill as our weakest link at the back. He just doesn't look confident on the ball when he is under pressure and for me he isn't quick enough on the turn..maybe he is still suffering from the Arsenal game. Hopefully we will see what Zouma can do playing in a back 3 against Peterborough. He can cover the ground quicker than Cahill and he looked better on ball before his injury. Alonso played a decent game but IMO he is still shows weakness defensively, hopefully he is working on that aspect of his game as he does offer some good things going forward.

December 28, 20169 yr anybody else really pleased for wilshere? so good to see him playing 90 mins. I hope he leaves Arsenal for good. His talents are wasted there.
December 28, 20169 yr Fantastic result and great counter-attacking performance. I was fascinated to see how we would cope without Costa and Kante, and I must say I was very impressed with what I saw. I was surprised that Michy did not start, but I suspect either Conte does not rate him or he hasn't been impressed with him at training whether it relates to tactics or fitness. Anyway, I suspect his next opportunity will arise in our FA Cup match against Peterborough in the new year. Amazing to think we're on a 12-match winning streak in the league and we do not look like slowing down anytime soon. Here's hoping our current streak continues!
