Possible Chinese investment on the cards?

This looks like it's money to build the stadium and maybe having them naming the stadium Which I have no issues with

Yeah Im not sure I would like Stamford Bridge to ne renamed Tsingtao Stadium

Or Wanda Bridge, in Tsingtao Broadway, borough of SAIC Motor and Yokohama Tyres. Thanks for the investment, but no name change, thanks. I don't know where all this crap of naming stadiums after a company comes from. Its ok to have their publicity in the Stadium, even a gate or stand named after the investors, but changing a historic name for a company name? I wouldn't like that.

I would have an issue with that. I don't want our stadium to have a Chinese company's name attached to it. Look at City and Arsenal, The Etihad and The Emirates, these are terrible names for a football stadium. I don't want that for Chelsea.

I don't want it either, but can we afford not to ?

What if that extra investment is the difference between finishing top and fourth ?

I don't think that is the case, is it? Have City or *ahem* Arsenal more chances of winning the league than us, Liverpool or ManUtd because they changed the name to their stadium? Ok to name a gate or a stand, plus publicity, but the stadium should be Stamford Bridge. But it is not up to us, after all, so who knows...

It's not the case at the moment, but it could be if the cost of the stadium prevents us from investing in players over the next 4 years. Over the last couple of transfer windows citeh and manyoo have both spent lavishly, as of yet it's not paid off, but eventually a gap will start to appear between our squad and their squads in terms of depth and quality. We have to look at every option to make money to keep up with them. Once the stadium is paid for we will have more income from the extra seats.

But then again we don't want greedy investors taking too much profit out of the club, after all that is all they are interested in.

We already have:

shirt sponsors, training gear sponsors, stadium advertisements, global sound partner, global airline partner, global video gaming partner, official hotel booking partner, global timekeeping and watch partner, global catering partner, global beer partner, official personal care partner, official betting partner, global digital and IT partner, financial services partner, whisky partner, payment card partner, official mobile service partner, official fitness equipment partner, official vietnamese mobile network parner...

Is that really not enough f**king sponsers and partners? Must we give away the name of the stadium? How long until a top flight English side sells the naming rights of the whole club? We're already seeing it in Germany, it won't be long surely. I for one am not looking forward to a trip to the Yokohama London Stadium to watch the Adidas Blues vs the Nike Manchester Devils

I pity the team that ends up in the Virgin Stadium.

As long as it's sponsorship and not actual part ownership of the club, I've no problem with it. But like others have said I don't want our stadium to have some Chinese name.

If we get a sh*t load of money annually for adding one more word to the name, like Yokohama Stamford Bridge, I couldn't care less it would be a fantastic deal for the club.

I'd happily sacrifice the Chinese investment to not have our stadium named something that wipes out over 100 years of Stamford Bridge history for a trivial '*insert chinese brand* arena' name...

That's the crux of it.

It's all good and well people saying they don't like or want it but at the end of the day football is now a business and if it generates money that keeps us at the top then we will 100% be doing it.

I'll be all for it, IF they leave the stadium name alone, and bring in some good Chinese food for half time. If that's the case, push the deal through. If not, long may I continue to stain my shirt with too much sauce from my £20 hot dog.

More likely to be something like the Yokohama Tyres Stadium

If it's gonna be Chinese investors who will be paying for the stadium, it most likely won't be anything like *that*.

Our ground has always been and will always be Stamford Bridge no matter how the moneymen would like to name it.

Amen to that. If there is investment from some company in future and the club decides to agree to a sponsored name for the new stadium, I hope Chelsea fans will continue to call it Stamford Bridge anyway regardless - I know I still will.

I would have a major issue with Stamford bridge being renamed especially a Japanese name "his honourable big boss IV yokahoma stadium" only weak clubs do that, can you imagine camp nou, the Bernabéu or old Trafford being renamed? The only elite club that's ever done that is Bayern and they didn't even have their own stadium they shared the old Olympic stadium with 1860 Munich .
