Victory Parade 2017

Featured Replies

Apologies if posted elsewhere. Victory parade to take place on Sunday, 28 May.

http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/05/victory-parade-to-take-place.html

After securing the Premier league title, and with agreement from all relevant local agencies, we can confirm a victory parade will be held on Sunday 28 May, commencing at midday.

Antonio Conte and his squad, who will contest the FA Cup final the day before the parade, will be accompanied on the route by the Academy, which has enjoyed another unprecedented year of success. The youth team completed a Double of their own, adding the Under-18 Premier League title to a sixth FA Youth Cup in eight years.

For those not able to make it to the parade, it will be live and free to view on Chelsea TV from 11.30am, and also available via our official Facebook page.

Parade route

The parade will start at midday on Sunday 28 May and finish at around 1pm. The procession will depart Stamford Bridge (west entrance) before travelling east along Fulham Road, turning right onto Hortensia Road, then right onto King’s Road and onto New King’s Road.  There will be a short stop at Eel Brook Common, where the procession will end.  The buses will then leave the parade route via Parsons Green.

A map of the parade route is available here.

Road closures

We have been continuing to work closely with all relevant local agencies to ensure that the parade takes place in a peaceful and safe manner, with the least possible inconvenience caused to local residents.

To this end, for public safety reasons, some roads will be closed and access to other roads restricted from 7am on 28 May.

Roads will be re-opened in the afternoon once crowds have dispersed, the clean-up operation has been completed and as soon as it is safe and practicable to do so. Every effort will also be made to re-open the Fulham Road as soon after the parade as possible.

Emergency services

Significant planning has taken place with the local authorities and emergency services to ensure all services from official local authority vehicles and doctors to those responding to emergency calls can meet their obligations.

Cleaning up

Following the parade, a full clean-up of the parade route and Eel Brook Common will be carried out to return the area to normal as quickly as possible.

If I wanted to go to this parade, how does it normally work? Do people follow it along, or just go to a particular spot and wait for them to pass?

It is best to find a particular spot and wait for them to pass. Best place to stand is on Eel Brook Common opposite the Eel Brook pub. It is there where the bus stops for a while and players sometimes make speeches. Good for taking photos as well.

Good call i think.

Massive shame what the terrorist scum have been able to do though.

Right decision atm, very tragic news.

I assume if its being rearranged that it would probably be sometime after the FA cup final, possibly with 2 trophies under our belts

understandable, such a shame those bstards made us change our way of life

i wonder if it's going to be rescheduled

I can't imagine it would be as the players will be away from the Monday essentially.

Shame, I would have thought to move it to Trafalgar Square there is always a lot of police there.

I wonder now if they have the CCTV switched back on at Westminster, it was a strange decision to turn it off in the first place, after all terrorism is not a new thing is it?

Totally the correct call, security resources stretched to the limit and London will be hard enough to police adequately.

Interestingly though, the City Games event on Friday evening here in Manchester has been given the go ahead, possibly in an effort to get the City back to normality as soon as possible and there are more than enough resources on the streets here already.

With security so stretched it's probably the correct decision.

Hopefully it can be rearranged, i think that is doubtful now though. I keep hearing people say that the terrorists won't win and they won't change our way of life, but this proves that they are winning and they are changing our way of life.

I respect this decision and am impressed, to be honest. The police need to focus resources and there's a clear threat to public safety at the moment.

Fair play to Chelsea for taking such a decision. ::clap2::

Its the right decision imo, the last thing the security services/Police need is to have to protect approx 100,000 football fans on the streets of SW6 in this current climate.

Another thing if we did go ahead with it no doubt we'd be slagged off for having no respect.

Also on that note of cancelled victory parade, i'm sure all of us want to congratulate Manchester United on winning the Europa league tonight.  It is, of course, insignificant due to recent events but hopefully will give a little boost for the city in these difficult times.
