Danilo

Featured Replies

He used to be a jewel at Porto at RB with Sandro at LB, he was more highly rated than Sandro. Since he went to Madrid however, he's had several sh*t performances, I'm not sure he can even reach his potential anymore. Sandro obviously gone to Juventus and grown leaps and bounds into a world class beast. I've stated my opinion about Danilo before i.e there are probably 10 other RBs I'd rather go for. But it may just be that he couldn't handle the pressure at Madrid as a Madrid fan recently told me. For example, he started throwing away easy passes with no opponent within yards of him, etc.

If we can get  him back to his true level, then sure, we'd be getting an insane talent. But that's a project. I'm not sure we have the patience for a project right now. Then again, Conte turned Moses into a serviceable RWB out of nowhere so who's to say he can't work on Danilo in short time?

Then again it could just be a BS rumour.

Seems more like a Juve deterrent to me. Either you give us A. Sandro or we'll drive the price on Danilo so high you wished you sold A. Sandro to us sort of deal.

It's too sudden a development for me

Would be a good signing. Danilo had a poor start to his RM career and it never really took off from there. Crowd booed him, the media was behind him and exagerrating even the smallest mistakes he made. Carvajal is one of the best RBs in the world anyways and to replace him will be a massive task. Also, RWB would suit him much more than a flat back 4.

We need a RWB more than a LWB. Should be looking to get this done.

Confirmed by Di Marzio.

Chelsea have now joined the race for Danilo. While Juventus were actively pursuing the Real Madrid right back they can only sign one more non EU player this summer, and now they're focus is back on Douglas Costa. Chelsea could take advantage of the change of course of the bianconeri and have now started to pursue Danilo.

As I said before, I was vehemently against Danilo when someone suggested it on here a few weeks back but I've had time to think and I've come around to it. Wouldn't be a bad signing at all, especially for that price (considering what we're about to pay for Sandro).

It was me who suggested it. I knew I'd win you round lol

I think he would be a good option, at a good price.

Ah yes, I forgot who it was. Can't deny he's been quite underwhelming at Madrid but speaking to a few Madrid fans recently, there are a few factors that contributed to that. Let's hope the change of scenery does him a world of good and hopefully we can bring his old mate Sandro along to keep him company (as well as Willian and Luiz).

And why would we give Real 30mln. and this would be a good deal, when for 2 season he could not get the job done and always was a second choice? And he is not very good, and not very fast as well. And he is already 26 years old. I don`t see him as a upgrade on Moses, then why would we spend 30mln. on him ?

Sandro may worth 60 or 70, but he is huge upgrade and is in top 3 world best.

If we are going to spend more then 20mln. on wing back, it should be someone who can become world class or is already world class and it`s upgrade on Moses.

We spent over 20m on Alonso and he isn't world class. They're asking for €25m-€30m, which is £22.1m-£26.5m. In today's market, that's about the price you get for a decent full back. Hardly a waste of money. At worst, he'd provide competition for Moses, who had none last season. At best, we get the beast of a player he was at Porto.

I think the fact he is a little less technical than the players around him, makes him look a little clumsy in that madrid team. He looks much more suited to the prem. At the very least he will offer good competition for moses. Fingers crossed on Sandro, I think he would be a real game changer for us on that left flank. As good as alonso has been, Sandro offers alot more at both ends.

For 30 mil in today's market I like this signing, he was excellent at Porto real bought him for a reason

Real Madrid have a habit of killing some players James and danilo both come under this category doesn't make them bad players. Bale looks average in that team sometimes lol.

I think with the expectation and the level of competition, it can ruin a players confidence, if they get a bad start and w**k fans that boo them it's easy to lose confidence, look at sanches at Bayern he is brilliant signed late missed preseason has a couple of bad games now can't get game time, a fresh start can do the world of good, if Real bought him in the first place now Juve want him, I'd trust that, juve know how to buy.

It's the only position (along with a striker obviously) that we definitely need to strengthen.

If we can get a full Brazil international with that much experience for 20-25m, we should definitely go for it. To think Alonso cost the same with about a third of the credentials.

Hope we get this done quick. 30mil euros is not much for a 26 year old.

If I remember well, he was the better player off sandro/danilo full back partnership.

I feel he can regain that form and level among a different club and set of fans.

If we end up not buyikg him are you going to do another 180 and claim the board f**ked up for not paying what Real wanted?

This report says that we've agreed a deal with Real Madrid for Danilo for around 25m euros...can't find anything on the Marca site itself?

Hope this is true, he was mustard at Porto and in today's market €25m is great value. Move quickly though as rumours are Dani Alves is signing for PSG, so Man City are also on the look out for a RB/RWB

I thought City was chasing Kyle Walker? Though at this point in time Levy would have increased the price to 65m for all we know
