Malang Sarr

For Sarr's sake I hope he gets a new club. Wikipedia (I know...) says last season he's been training with the under-21s. Must have been tough for him.

I do keep his case in mind when we're buying so many so-called promising youngsters. If I remember correctly,  that was the reason we bought Sarr. No guarantees whatsoever, that much is clear.

Yeah i feel for the lad, we single-handedly derailed his career in the hope of a quick buck on a free transfer.

He's been well compensated but he was very promising at one point. Sticking him on such high wages was bizarre. Hope he can get his career going again back in France.

Last season Sarr spent the entire campaign training with Chelsea  under-21s. He is set to undergo a medical with Lens before signing on a free.

Sarr was on £120,000-a-week.  Personally i would have trained with the u21s for 120k a week.

Winston Bogarde. Lurn by your mistakes . . . Danny DrinkingWater was on 120k a week

It appears Sarr wants to play. Hopefully he'll grab whatever Lens offer even if it's less than what he got at Chelsea.

Probably a lot less. You cannot blame him.  We offered him 120k a week.

"Why should I throw fifteen million euro away when it is already mine? At the moment I signed it was in fact my money, my contract. Both sides agreed wholeheartedly. I could go elsewhere to play for less, but you have to understand my history to understand I would never do that. I used to be poor as a kid, did not have anything to spend or something to play with. This world is about money, so when you are offered those millions you take them. Few people will ever earn so many. I am one of the few fortunates who do. I may be one of the worst buys in the history of the Premiership, but I don't care." - Winston Bogarde [9 appearances in 4 years with Chelsea].

Was going to say, Winston Bogard meet Malinga Sarr... Club agreeed to the contract, the players just sticking to it.

Can anybody remember whether he was actually bad or just what we deemed to be bad pre-Clearlake?

He just wasn’t good enough that’s the simple fact.

Forget any others but if you include just three players Zieych,Sarr and Lukaku ( if that two last named do infact leave)  then that will reduce annual squad costs by £45 million pa that probably is getting close to  10% of the 23/24  squad costs estimated to be £200 million amortisation and 75% of the overall £400 million total wage costs.

Manage to somehow see the back of Kepa to wave a goodbye and that is another £15 million.

Huge sums for players that deliver nothing

Why would he give up millions of pounds that the club promised him lmao? No person is giving up generational wealth for free.

They did the same with Mount, agreeing a deal then going back and trying to low ball after the agreement.

The upper management at Chelsea are embarrassing us constantly.

Yep.

Sterling's on over £300pw too and hasn't been worth anywhere near that. Praying either Maresca raises Sterling's performance level massively or Saudi come calling with an offer he can't refuse.

This and the constant renewing of Bakayoko and Batshuayi's contracts one of the blemishes of Marina.

Presumably wasn't her decision alone? Who would have okayed it?

The contracts and financial decisions were her jurisdiction, no?

She thought it was financially sensible to give Sarr 120kpw and to keep renewing Batshuayi and Bakayoko in the miracle they raise their value.

Yep, i nearly fell off my chair when i read that Malang was struggling with some mental health issues surrounding the decline in his footballing fortunes. And there's my lad trying to pay his mortgage with his other half on his £35k pa Road Haulage contract!

Absolutely. They were nonsense decisions. Just wondered why no one close to the football operation suggested otherwise. The perils of autonomy.

Having a high income does not guarantee good mental health. Please, don't mock mental health issues.

Nobody is mocking mental health issues. Try having to work over an hour from where you live on 35k a year on a standard 12 hour road haulage contract because it's the only way you can get a mortgage. We get mental health, trust me. Stress, depression and anxiety issues can affect all of us but having a high income certainly helps matters

His debut pre season through ball against spuds, split OUR  defence wide open for them to score!

Can't fault the guy's logic.

True mate

We always hear about wealthy managers, millionaire players etc being under stress, but never about the stress of millions ordinary workers and the effect on their mental and physical health .

I know anyone can suffer, rich and poor.

But ordinary people have the added stress of their finances , job security, almost impossible mortgage repayments, high rents, long working days etc etc. none of which impact the mental health of the wealthy.
