What striker will we sign to back up Morata?

Featured Replies

At the end of last season and in the preseason against arsenal I was thinking batshuayi could do a job.

After watching the community shield and the Burnley game I no longer think so. Just can't hold it up, basically almost invisible for most of those games.

So in my view we should move batman along and get a replacement. Probably there is too much bad blood to use costa but he'd be perfect. Or aubameyang, but he probably too old for this Chelsea transfer management team.

Main requirements. 1 aggression/cunning/craft, 2 can retain possession under pressure. 3 can score goals.

I agree with threadstarter. We are one injury to Morata away from being royally fecked. Michy have failed to convince me in any game he's started for us.
United have Rashford if Lukaku gets injured, City got Gabriel Jesus if Aguero gets injured, Arsenal have plenty of alternatives behind Lacazette. We are short.

We don't need another forward, but it would be nice to have 3 choices up top. Is it beyond all possibility that Costa could not be swayed back into the squad? Who knows, maybe that boat has sailed now.

Batshuayi certainly can't play in the same way as Morata/Costa can as his hold up play looked weak at the weekend, but we could say it was just a bad day at the office and against other sides he would have more of an affect.

Don't need a third...Morata and Bats are enough...and we can always play with a false number 9 like we did against Leicester...besides we don't want anyone blocking Tammy's path into the first team next year...

Judging from what has come out recently, particularly Sky reporting that Chelsea expect Costa to return to training to compete for first team selection, I wouldn't be surprised if we see him back in a Chelsea shirt this season. He's on £150,000 a week and I imagine the board have usurped Conte's decision and insisted he's back in the squad at least - whether it is possibly to raise his transfer fee, who knows? Probably in all honesty. However after Batshuayi looking not good enough in the last 2 games, maybe Costa is required. Conte has always used 3-5-2 in his career, Morata and Costa up front in my view would compliment eachother well. Not sure if they've managed it for Spain but could see that partnership working.

^ We could sing "Alvaro Alvaro Alvaro" but I have my doubts that the depressingly large proportion of our fanbase which appears to be braindead would be able to pronounce it.

Granted City and Arsenal are ahead of us in terms of striking depth. But when Bony leaves you are still relying on a 20 year with 23 (7 bpl which only 2 more than bats in well over double the minutes) career goals to lead the line if Aguero gets injured.

Rashford isnt exactly a good example of depth and would be an extremely weak replacement for Lukaku and behind that they have James Wilson, personally I think Bats is a much more complete striker than Rashford. And Remy is ahead of Wilson. For the stat lovers Rashford has 10 bpl goals in 2500 mins not exactly great.

Although if United do sign Ibrahimovic they again go ahead of us.

Tottenham have Jansen who is worse than both Remy and Bats

And Liverpool have sturrudge who's better than both when fit and Solanke who is much worse than both.

I get people like to moan but people seem to be massively overrating other squads and underestimating our own. we are fine in the striking department compared to our rivals.

Yeah Rashford is quick and a very good dribbler, but the lad can't shoot for sh*t.  I think Martial is a much better option for Utd up front, well thats if he can stop sulking.

Michy. I don't think we are looking to add another striker.

He's already had his 56 mins to perform like a superstar, and that's all plenty on here would give him this season. They don't realise that all the best things in life are worth waiting for, just like malt whiskey, smoked salmon, and Didier Drogba.

Hopefully next year the option cab be Abraham, if he does well with Swansea, which I think he will. For now, Batshayui will just have to up his game. I wouldn't be adverse to a loan signing, if there is anyone we can get just for this seaosn, but I would prefer not to have an extra striker blocking Abraham's progress for next year.
