August 31, 20178 yr I called it close enough I said I week ago we will sign no one or make last minute moves which failed and blame everyone else we only sign one player and pretty much make a laughing stock by the rest.
August 31, 20178 yr Think we just need to realize that there is not much intention in terms of spending this term to become a top European force and frankly that might not change until the stadium is funded to Romans satisfaction. Fair enough. If Conte prioritizes the league and treats CL like the domestic cup competitions I think the squad will competitive for the title barring a bad run of luck/injuries.
August 31, 20178 yr So... Courtois Cabellaro Eduardo ------------- Luiz Rudiger Azpilicueta Cahill Christensen -------------- Alonso Kenedy Baba Moses Zappacosta ------------ Kante Fabregas Bakayoko Drinkwater ------------ Hazard Pedro Willian Musonda ------------ Morata Batshuayi Remy (Costa) I dislike Costa. Don't want to see him back but him fit and things smoothed over, he would unwuestionably make the quality of that front line a few notches higher. Tbh, even a fit and included Remy isn't a had option to have (except he's rarely ever fit.) With Musonda there, Kenedy and Baba, there are three players there who could do a decent job given the chance. All in all, it isn't as disastrous as at first sight. August 31, 20178 yr Looks like we are disappointed then. Drinkwater or no Drinkwater this was poor. Based on what we know our squad should be: GK: Tibo Willy Eduardo CB: Azpi Luiz Rudiger Cahill (HG) Christensen (HG) WB: Zappacosta Moses (HG) Alonso Kenedy Baba (when fit and likely allowing kenedy or himself out on loan in Jan) CM: Cesc (HG) Kante Baka Drinkwater (HG) (If completed in time) WF: Pedro Willian Hazard Charly Jnr, (HG) ST: Morata Batman Remy **At the moment Costa but no way he is allowed back. Anyone missing? Edited August 31, 20178 yr by axman2526

August 31, 20178 yr Interesting, Liverpool's starting 11 now that they have completed the OX transfer

September 1, 20178 yr Thought there was only a 2 hour grace period? well we have had it and no deal announced. Has it fallen through? If it has will our next announcement being Conte walking out? If not I look forward to hearing how he sells his next press conference as to how hard the board worked this window and how delighted he is with his squad...lol
September 1, 20178 yr Reports circulating - Drinkwater to Chelsea may not happen. His replacement, Silva, has apparently failed his medical. Not confirmed yet.

That doesn't make any sense on any level. If Silva has gotten far enough to have a medical then that means Drinkwater's move was authorised before deadline day, therefore they cannot bring him back.

This makes as much of a sense as Barkley.

No it does to me, their position about this has been they would only let him leave if they could get someone in to take his spot. If the guy they want cannot be signed off on there they can withdraw their consent on the deal. No replacement, no sale. And explains why nothing has further come out. Would be completely on us for leaving it so late. If you leave it late like Levy and get a couple of really good deals then fair play, if you mess up like we did then...
September 1, 20178 yr If Silva has failed his medical it teaches the board a lesson for leaving it until the last day of the window. Had weeks to sort this out
September 1, 20178 yr So we STILL haven't completed the Drinkwater deal. Amazing. EDIT: Just seen that. Finaf**kingly. Edited September 1, 20178 yr by Barrettinator
September 1, 20178 yr Well it's something at least. If we had landed Llorente and someone like a Mahrez it could have been a great window, but it wasn't to be. Our squad is still a bit thin, but it's not as bad as some people are making it out to be. At full strength it's still one of the best teams in the league. Mixed feelings here as we did bring in cover for RWB and CMF which we needed but failed to land a big name player.
