What kinda fan are you ?
Dropping your weapons even before the fight started ?
Last time when we beat barca, we were sh*ttier than we're today. We had a weaker team and barcelona was stronger, yet we beat them. Form doesn't matter in CL. What matters is who play better on the given day.

That team still had drogba, big petr, Ashley Cole and lampard. 4 truly outstanding players. This team has the truly outstanding hazard. Imo that team is way better than this one.

And all of them past their prime ?
This team has Hazard in prime, Dave in prime, Kante in prime. I think these 3 Worldclass footballers can take on any team at any given day. Yes, we aren't having a good season as par our standards but that doesn't mean we should underestimate the quality we've got.

None of them played past their prime in Munich.

Maybe is a touch of a rose colour looking to the past but, for me, as good as dave and Kante are, and they are very, very good, they are, as yet, not at the same level as hazard or the 4 lads i mentioned from the 2012 team. Easy to say right as they won the champions league and if this current group repeat that trick this season then fair do to them. I wait and see if they can.

I am not Saying that we're favorites to win the CL this season (May be 5th or 6th favorite). But we're not as bad as some our fans think we're. And right now, I am just talking about eliminating barcelona. Winning CL is too far down the road. I dream about winning it ever season tho.

That 1st goal from Hazard was reminiscent of a goal he scored 4 years ago in the same month against Newcastle when we beat them 3-0. He scored a hattrick that day, but his second goal was that excellent one-two with Eto'o and the quality finish which he placed in the corner of the net. Would love someone to post a clip of that. Was a brilliant goal and similar to the one he scored today. I think that game against Newcastle was when people really started to take notice of how special a player we had.

Nice to be able to post again. I like to stay away foehn we lose.

Kante has gone off his game, and Moses;s header the worst mistake I’ve ever seen him make. On the other hand Gironde did the job asked and will improve further as he plays more and he and Morata will compete well. Zappa  also doing better than expected on the left

We need more a grade talent to support hazard, that’s been evident for years. I think what we need is a strong leader in the middle of the park. The “character” reference point.

I think we all do. Munich was immense.

Good win after the shambles we saw last week.  Giroud did very well and so he should he’s no mug in this premier league, now he’s in blue I’m actually Well chuffed he got signed. Took a few hits today so hope he’s fit - team needs him right now think if he clicks w Eddie , Willy Pedro could be a game changer he’s a great target man perfect for the system.

Moratas good at dancing, healing bad backs and now looking like he’s up for it on the pitch - goals please.

If not for Eddie, motm again. CFC dodged getting beat by the bottom of the league team twice in a season.....big phew.

Carefree  then

I lost faith in Conte after Watford, a poor team shown up at the weekend by a poor West Ham team. The win against the bottom of the table club makes things no better. I just wish the club would get rid of him so we can concentrate on getting in players for our new manager as soon as possible - hopefully underway as we speak. All he does is moan, moan, moan in public - the board should have read the riot act after his mismanagement of Diego Costa. I want a passionate manager, that puts the club first, not complaining about how bad his players are - he is turning into a sub Mourinho clone - good riddance.

Quite a good game against the next season's Championship team. Our defense combination Azpi-Christensen-Rudiger is by far our best. If all are fit only a madman would start with any other combination in the big games. Hazard was superb again and Giroud will be a very good backup for Morata. The two last substitutions I don't get: The win is on its way, why not give a few minutes to Emerson and one of the young boys (Ampadu, Hudson-Odoi). The future is not Cahill (who didn't make any mistakes yesterday have to say) or Willian who gave absolutely nothing to the game after he game on.

Because they will both be playing in the FA Youth cup tonight v Spurs.

LOT better last night after a nervy opening. You could see how fragile the confidence was and if we had conceded early it could have gone the wrong way again. But fair play - Hazard clearly MOTM but good performances by most last night - Azpi back to his best and bar the one slip, Christensen was class. Lot better from Pedro (who I wouldn't have started) and Giroud did well enough allowing for the fact he isn't 100% match fit. Even Morata looked lively when he came on. And thankfully Moses got better as the game went on as he was having a first half to rival Bakayoko's last week!!

Still not convinced by the 3-4-3 formation, and not getting carried away by a win against the worst team in the league. True test will be against Barca, City and to an extent Utd. Personally still feel we are better off with a 4-3-3. We need Fabregas’ creativity in the middle of the park, but you can’t play him in a 2 against the big teams as he doesn’t have the legs.

I don't know why people here are complaining.
Yes, we looked shaky up until the 10th minute. Yes, we played against West Brom.
But I think it was a huge improvement from the two last games. We played with energy, created chances and apart from the first minutes looked decent on defence. We also saw Conte, while not changing the system, at least introducing new tactical aspects to the game: more freedom to the back 3 when attacking (we even saw Rudiger and Azpi overlapping Moses and Zapa), the combination play upfront that Conte like has made a reappearance.
And, most importantly, the players played with energy and will.

I concede that ahead of this very difficult month this might not be enough. But maybe, just maybe, this will give the players the confidence they need (odds are slim though)...

If we win against Hull on Friday, and then get any sort of result against Barcelona and the Manc clubs I will be happy. But an unconvincing win against the bottom club in the league does not make up for the piss poor showing against Bournmouth and Watford.

I'm not fussed about getting top 4, as the Champions League as a competition flawed and needs a huge revamp in my opinion. But what I can't take is slow, boring & defensive football. We had years of it with Mourinho and now have it again with Conte. I can't stand the fact that City, Liverpool and even Tottenham play far better football than we do, pressing high up the pitch with conviction and showing that they want to win, while we plod around the pitch, and try to pass out from the back with players who can barely pass wind, while hoping our one creative player can pull off a bit of magic and get us out of the sh*t!

Rant over! But still fuming> :steaming:

The substitutions were the correct ones - it's all about resting those legs. Willian was very close to an assist, just a misunderstanding with Hazard. Thought Pedro had his best game in ages.

Yeah I agree. That said, personally I would have been tempted to hook Hazard the second that Claudio Yacob stepped foot on the pitch.

Don't believe all the BS you read in the newspapers or hear on TV or you will be sorely disappointed.

Awww bless you, saying that in THIS forum of all places, where the vast majority of posts on nearly every subject are along the lines of "The sky is falling in because some Italian twitterer said......"  or It's the end of the world because the Daily Express says Hazard is giving up football to have a sex-change"  Some of our very best and most passionate supporters ONLY get their football knowledge from what Sky, BT and the Daily Mail tell them.

That's including last season. We live in the NOW and Guardiola's win percentage is better than Conte's this season.

Why so f**king negative?  Why does everything from you have to be talking the club and the manager down?  Football managers' experiences and achievements are about their career, not just an arbitrary cut-off of your choosing to suit your agenda.  Were you whingeing last season when Conte's win percentage was much better than Guardiola's?  Did you forget we won the league last year?  Last year we won 30, City won 23. - Difference of 7,  Currently, we won 16 City won 23 - difference of 7.  Arse.

Can't disagree more...Cahill why? Ampudu would be better...Morata OK he's coming back from injury so needs minutes but Willian? It would have been a perfect opportunity for Hudson Odoi to get some minutes...just hope Conte plays some if these players against Hull on Friday...Conte is a dead man walking and hopefully he's gone in the summer and the next manager starts to use some of our serial trophy winning youth players and brings back some of our loan army like RLC and Bats...

Because, as @Nibs said up above, "Because they will both be playing in the FA Youth cup tonight v Spurs."

Anyway, Christensen was getting a bit bullied, why on earth would you think Ampadu would have fared any better?

Are you seriously saying that 20 mins on the pitch for a 17 year old would stop him from playing a game the following night?? Be real...and how do we if Ampudu and Hodson Odoi are going to stand up to that type of treatment if we don't play then...besides they did really well against the thug football that Lincoln played in Checkatrade Cup...

If you say so.  And I expect you would have been n here moaning if Ampadu had replaced Christensen and then we'd conceded 2 or 3.  Play the youth at all costs, but don't dare lose or fail to play exciting dynamic football, eh?

But he didn't did he? Ultimately it was a wasted opportunity to test some of our younger squad members at a time when the game was well won...that sort of cowardice but Conte is typical of an Italian defensive minded manager...just hope the next manager will have the guts to try something different...I genuinely think that Roman will be more sympathetic to a manager who tries that sort of approach...
