Looks like he is making moves for a transfer back to Italy (meeting Juve reps with his agent) so there is no point keeping someone if they clearly don't want to be here anymore. Maybe the next manager can inspire him but who knows.
May 25, 20188 yr I want him just for the possible chant. Maurizio Sarri He's havin' a party 5 Packs of Cigarettes And Mauro Icardi!

Bats has scored 9 goals in 14 appearances for Dortmund this season

They're similar players I'm really not that convinced which league is weaker Bundes or Serie A... I have nothing against Michy if he proves he can score 15+ goals in 30 games thats great but as of right now Icardi is way better in my book.
May 26, 20188 yr I can't believe what I'm reading here. Bundesliga is probably one of the hardest and most competitive leagues in Europe. People online tend to look at Bayern, but besides them (due to the money) all other teams are close to each other. It's not because one team always wins the competition it is by defintion a weak one. If you take out the top 6 in the prem, would you call it a weak competition ?

I think I can say the same thing about the Italian league, even if Juventus is winning all the time other teams are pretty close.
May 27, 20188 yr What’s to say we couldn’t have Icardi, Bats, & Giroud and send Tammy out on another loan. We’re playing in Europa next season which means a bigger need for rotation. We need options and having 3 strikers definitely wouldn’t be a bad thing. Some have said Icardi & Bats are similar players though so swap Icardi for any ready made first choice striker. Or if Sarri’s style suits Bat’s play he might become first choice but as I say we need options.
May 30, 20188 yr 100 goals in 150 matches for a very average team, only 25 years of age... I see of no reason why I shouldn't want him here. Quality is above every other feature in football. Unfortunatelly we seem to have forgetten that. Edited May 30, 20188 yr by Giordano_Bruno
May 30, 20188 yr Interesting fact, poachers like Icardi and Aubameyang have won the grand total of 1 competitive trophy between them in the last 5 seasons (Dortmund German Cup 16/17).
May 30, 20188 yr If he's a similar player to Bats, why not just keep Bats. Under a different manager and system, he could flourish. He was banging them in for Dortmund.
May 30, 20188 yr The captain of Inter and they just qualified for the champions league. I don't think they will sell to rivals in Italy but we would have to pay his full release clause to get him, if that sort of money is being touted for Lewandowski then maybe it could happen but I doubt it. I can only see us doing this if we send Morata the other way and a large sum of money.
May 30, 20188 yr Sell Bats Pay the £98m release clause with the money. Exactly the type of player that Hazard wants and a real statement in the transfer market.
May 30, 20188 yr His omission from the WC squad has caused quite a bit of consternation in Argentina, particularly as Higuain was chosen over him, a player that has had numerous chances and has always bottled the big occasion. Icardi is a good age. The fact that he's Inter's captain suggests he's matured as a personality. We would be signing trouble, much as we did with Costa. Sometimes though these players are worth the baggage, because of that competitive edge they bring, because of their personality, things we desperately lack at the moment. Icardi is a fighter, he's tough, and I think he'd build a rapport with the fans in no time. He didn't just run off his teammate's wife however, that's not the full story. This teammate was his friend who had put him up when he first moved to Italy. He then gloated about it, posting pictures on social media of him with his wife and his teammate's kids, having the kids' names tattooed on his body and so on. Really appalling behaviour. This was a friend of his from his homeland and probably explains why he hasn't been picked for the WC, as it may not go down well with his Argentina teammates. As a player though, you'd take him over Morata all day long.
May 30, 20188 yr It's clear to me that a striker merry-go-round is potentially kicking into gear for the summer, Lewandowski, Higuain, Icardi, Mandzukic, Batshuayi, Morata, possibly Benzema. Icardi is probably being pursued because of his age and finishing abilities. I'm still not sure we want him near our squad. But it does speak to the limited options available though.

Exactly this. If we are interested in Icardi we're better off sticking with Michy. One of the best natural finishes i've seen and on par in terms of build up.

Mandzukic (too similar to Giroud) 6. Batshuayi (haven't forgotten how sh*t he was in the buildup last season, don't care how many goals he scores - sell to Dortmund) Edited May 30, 20188 yr by the special one
