Mauro Icardi

Featured Replies

From what I understand this rumour has come about based on one random Italian journalist on Twitter.

Don't think there’s much to get excited about just yet, especially given the amount of uncertainty over who will even be in charge of the team come next season.

This is a no-brainer for me. He suits our system, he's a goal machine and he's not just a one season wonder. I would be ok with selling Batshuayi if it meant we got this guy. Batshuayi is a very good striker, but he just doesn't suit the system we play and with the way he is playing at the moment, we could easily get a lot of money for him.

Icardi, Morata and Giroud would great options upfront.

It probably won't happen though, i wouldn't be surprised if Real Madrid go in for him next season.

When we were looking for Costa's replacement, i'm a bit surprised that this guy wasn't at the top of the list ahead of Morata, Lukaku and Belotti. He seems like the player who was most suited to replace Costa.

Because he had just signed a new contract with a buy out clause of £97m. Seeing as we were reluctant to pay less than that for Lukaku, I don't think icardi was ever an option.

If I'm honest I don't think we could afford him this summer either, unless there is a big shift in policy.

Great player though, He's been captain for 2 seasons at inter as well now, so he would bring some much needed leadership into the team.

That makes more sense then. I knew there had to be a logical reason.

People write of Batshuayi for being limited outside the box but want Icardi?

Ok then.

Icardi is a lot better at playing with his back to goal, his hold up play is better too. Batshuayi's main problem is that he doesn't have good hold up play and is awful with his back to goal, the ball tends to just bounce off him.

He's as poor as Costa was at bringing others in to play and holding up the ball.

Italian and Spanish sources claim Chelsea could offer Alvaro Morata plus €40m to sign Inter centre-forward Mauro Icardi.

Morata has not settled in London and was linked with a move back to Juventus, especially as he was spotted in Milan this week meeting with Juve director of sport Fabio Paratici.

However, according to Cadena Ser and Il Messaggero newspaper, there are other Serie A options for the Spaniard.

It’s reported Chelsea are prepared to offer Morata plus €35-40m in order to prise Icardi away from Inter.

Icardi has shattered records at San Siro and was joint Capocannoniere this season with 29 Serie A goals, on a par with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile.

He has scored a massive 107 competitive goals in 182 appearances for Inter, and at the age of 25 has 110 Serie A goals in 190 games.

There is a release clause in his contract worth €110m, but that is only valid up until July 15.

Morata would be interested in a move to the Nerazzurri because they have qualified for the Champions League and his wife is a fashion blogger, so would be right at home in Milan.

I would like him to join instead of Lewa,Morata any day of the week. He scored the most goals in the last years out of all strikers from Argentina and yet he won't play in the world cup this year, an absolute killer of a player and the captain of Inter Milan.

He's a fantastic finisher, but I wouldn't sign him.

We have issues around leadership/culture in our dressing room already. Leaving aside the fact that he stole a teammates wife, he seems to have fallen out with the Inter fans and a number of players at various points despite being the captain.

He's essentially a poacher. Someone who doesn't contribute in the buildup really at all. If we're paying buyout clauses of 97m I want the total package, that includes the positive influence in the dressing room.

I think he deserved the spot ahead of Higuain. Higuain has had his time with Argentina, and he's bottled the big moments, they should give somebody else a try.

Capocannoniere...what a fantastic word  Let's get him and put it on his shirt instead of his name.

Honestly speaking I think that "news" about Morata + cash for Icardi came up just because Morata was spotted in Milan. I'm sure if he was to go to Madrid the same article would have been published but rather this time it would say Morata + Cash for Griezman. Sometimes we just have to realize our stars are loaded with cash and they might as well jet over to Italy for something as simple as a midnight gelato.

My opinion on Icardi transfer... not until next year. Morata deserves another chance at the Prem, its too soon to rule him out, and having him leave could be something that we regret especially with the amount of potential he has. Even if Morata were to fail I don't think its in Chelsea's best interest to pay 100 million on a new striker that plays similar style to Bats. Though Icardi is slightly better, he's not 100million better.

Morata plus money is a decent deal, but he is essentially just a poacher and he's made to look much better than he probably is just because of the league.

Just look at bats at Dortmund, he's been scoring goals left right and centre in that weaker league, and he's a great poacher but not too good at anything else. We'd essentially just be buying another bats, except hes slightly older

Icardi is much better than Michy no matter how you look at it, that whole saying "hes just a poacher" is not really true either but either way we do need someone that will score goals and Icardi is perfect for that.
