ANTONIO CONTE STAYS!

Featured Replies

i really hope that antonio conte stays for 1 more season. one thing we should be worry is the players transfer. we should hold on on hazard for one more season, last match against clarets we saw how importand he is. what we need is a player to co-op with kante like dembele who is strong and visionary such as fabregas if we play 2 cm. hopefully Baya will improve next season. ktbffh!!

The board apparently want to go in a different direction next season. They want a different style of football and for youth to be integrated.

Shame really, I though he was going to be the man to do just that.

How many times have we heard that before...the problem is with the Board is that they want their cake and eat it; fine play the kids but then lower your expectations to mid-table mediocrity for a few seasons......ahhhhh but we need to win silverware....OK fire the manager then..:face_palm:  This Board has no clue in what direction they want to go.

to be honest, i haven't heard that before.

For the last I don't know how many seasons the board wants whatever manager is in place to integrate the youth. But the pressure placed upon the manager to win silverware overrides their commitment to play the kids and loose a few games, hence the kids don't play they all go out on loan...its just a vicious cycle.  If the Board want the kids to play..then they better lower their expectations of silverware every year.  Maybe they need a different type of manager ...maybe a Eddie Howe type and understand that mid-table is the standard for a couple of years.....but can't do that, we will be needing to fill the current and future stadium and that has to be with European football, not mid-table clashes with Palace and West Ham..

i think their vision is for the next 5, 10, 15 years etc. it isn't just a short term thing. they/roman wants to start seeing a return for the fruits of the youth side's achievements with a few more young players getting a chance. i don't think it's unnecessary too much to ask. man utd can do it, liverpool too, spurs too, arsenal also, even to some extent city even though sane and stones aren't youth.

it's doable to integrate a handful of youth over the next 5+ years. i am sure the board aren't expecting a coach to challenge with half a team of youth players. the hierarchy seem to be planning for the long term plan for the club, which involves a different style of play and more youth integration. that is certainly a good plan to have to move forward, rather than focusing on trying to achieve league titles and champions league every season which isn't always doable.

I'm not as convinced of that. Have we ever sacked a manager who won a major trophy in the same season?

Notwithstanding that we will finish out of the CL places.

I'm not sure the club will see the fa cup as a major trophy.

I still rate conte very highly. I won't be disappointed if he stays anyway, although I think he would have to scrape top 4 and win the fa cup to avoid the chop.

The last 3 games, he certainly doesn't look like a manager who knows he's getting sacked next month, he actually looks like he is experimenting for next season, so it's anyone's guess at what is going to happen.

If he does goes, then I hope we do decide to go in a fresh direction.

That's pretty much where I am.

I still think Conte is one of the best out there and certainly best available. I see no point in going round in circles and appointing another similar coach (Simeone, Allegri.......etc) as we all know, we'll be back to square one in a couple of seasons time. IF The Club decide a fresh approach and go for a younger coach and give him time to experiment and start to integrate more youth and try and play more expansive, attacking football, fair enough, but knowing our Club, I really don't see that happening.

We have to bear in mind, that Arsenal are now in the market for a coach and hate to say it, but they are probably a more attractive proposition for any top coaches out there. Decent(ish) squad with a 60,000 seater stadium all in place. Nowhere near as much pressure to win anything and no history of sacking coaches every season or two.

If i was a manager looking for a top salary and the chance of silverware, it would be an easy choice, like choosing between a kiss on the cheek from Valerie, or a slap on the cheek from Yorkeyblue.

honest question. say conte gets the players he wants in the summer. do you really think we'll challenge next season? we've seen this season that with more teams challenging, he has shown to not have a plan b or c up until a week ago when he finally changed something. i honestly don't things changing next season. we are way too predicable to play against and it's obvious he loves that formation. i fear things will grow stale and next season won't turn out as people seem to think, with or without his targets.

The club need to make the right signings whoever is in charge. If conte or any new managers get 3 players that will improve the starting 11, we will have a fighting chance.

Without getting into the whole painful debate about conte signings, and board signings etc, for whatever reasons, the squad wasn't good enough this year.

Maybe conte could've utilised certain players better, maybe the club could've done better in the market, we still need to improve the quality of the players we have available, as we try to do every season.

No big dramas.
