July 26, 20188 yr Seen a couple of reports that said we were after Golovin a few weeks ago but after signing Jorginho, who we didn't know if we could get (because City had already agreed a deal with Napoli) we cooled our interest as we've now got a lot of midfield options already. Might be that we need to sell before we can buy for the midfield now, so maybe need to sort out the sale of Drinkwater and sale/loan of Bakayoko before anyone else comes in.

Ok if we're content to finish 4th to 8th and hope for a cup run. I agree that we also need a very good winger too if we want to trouble City this year.

There is also Fabregas, Jorginho, Kante and RLC for 3 positions. At least 1 of Drinkwater and Bakayoko will be out the door and the other will be 6th choice or joining them if we make a signing. We look likely to set up Kante, Jorginho, Barkley with Fabregas and RLC as rotation, personally I think all 5 of them suit Sarri's style of football and therefore should be more than enough to compete for top 4. We could upgrade Barkley but I'm not sure Golovin is an upgrade on Barkley at least not yet anyway, and what is the point in buying yet another rotation option? If we are going to buy it has to be a clear upgrade and whilst we are being linked with Pjanic, Thiago and Milinkovic-Savic all of which would be upgrades they are all likely out of our grasp.
July 26, 20188 yr Golovin is going to As Monaco. (5years contract) Apparently he wanted a secure first team spot. Didn't know Emenalo is at Monaco. Edited July 26, 20188 yr by Nevamind
July 26, 20188 yr I reckon he just choose to play at a club where he could play week in week out, makes perfect sense.
July 26, 20188 yr He apparently said the reason he didn't come was because we bought Jorginho and he was unsure he would get playing time. Fair enough.

July 26, 20188 yr I know both are central midfielders but jorginho plays a deep role. Surely golovin would have competed with barkely and ruben?
August 3, 20188 yr Yeah he said Emenalo convinced him to come, who would of thought Emenalo was useful at recruiting players Maybe after all the sh*t thrown at him, he wasn't the problem with the process... [emoji848]
