Morata started his career at Chelsea well and was a massive investment. It would have been stupid for us bin him straight away. We gave him half a season under Sarri, the same manager who transformed Mertens and Higuain into two of the deadliest attackers in the game, and are now doing something about it at the earliest possible chance. We can't overhaul an entire team in one window.

Why the need for the back handed dig? I never said we must buy this or that player and in mass quantity......and I never said we have to bin him,eventhough its very likely now and hence many of us were right. Yeah barca wouldnt pay more than 30 for Willy who f**ked them up but we are willing to pay 50 for a 31 old forward who hasnt scored in 10 games or so. You see sh*t aint that black and white.

It should be noted and you have touched on it, Sarri did not have enough time evaluate the players at his disposal before the window shut in the summer. So it was not a surprise to me that Morata was given a chance. As you said, it has been one window, but in reality the Jan window is Sarri's first window to address any issues after evaluating the players.

I have seen quite a few rumours about Higuain, and all mention a loan swap. I am not seeing anything concrete saying we are going to spend £50m on Higuain.

I saw a couple and it would make sense for the seller. But yeah lets hope its a loan deal or its just bonkers imo.

I don't put that on Conte. We were thin and we didn't exactly sign numbers. For every player that came in, one went out. Usually younger (a record fee for Ake and Chalobah in his final 12 months being the exceptions)

Conte complained about squad numbers and we did virtually nothing to bolster those numbers. Instead, he wins the league and we go on a rebuilding project with a neutral net spend. 

We can talk all day about Conte 1st choice targets, and he didn't get any of them. In fact I'm pretty sure he said something to the effect of "I'd rather have 2 players for £150M than 5."

I don't place any of the transfer failings at the feet of Conte. I blame the fact that he ran down the squad he had publicly and cried for 12 months after the title as a big factor in the second half collapse last year. 

But transfers? No... that's not on Conte. 

BTW - I'm with you 100% on the handling of Morata.  Chelsea had to go e him a chance with Sarri. He's had that chance and if we can do a loan swap for Higuain before selling Morata inthe summer... I think that's not only a positive for us, but much more probable than a long term fix coming in January.

Willian is due a goal, he's slightly behind his season average of 5. So one in the next five or so league games makes sense. Might as well be today
