My understanding is that he did indeed draw up criteria with a huge emphasis on plans going forward as opposed to just purchase price which if correct seems a very balanced and reasonable approach

As for not having Billionaire owners well actually they did and do. Take a look at their demise in terms of income streams relative to just about every club in what was the historic top 6. The simple fact is that match day receipts now save Spurs and Arsenal account for less than 20% of all income.

As for building at their own cost new stadia to increase revenue how did that go for Bolton, Wigan, Sunderland, Swansea, Cardiff, Southampton ( went into administration) Leicester ( went into administration) Brighton ( look at their debt ) Hull. Reading, Derby, Huddersfield , Stoke, Coventry

 

Stadium investment has to be judged. Chelsea have at the moment one of the biggest football clubs in the world but we have a stadium of a much smaller club. And despite the extra costs the right big stadium is a profit generator. We are not going to build a stadium complex investment model in this forum, but Stamford Bridge as it is is not the future for a club of Chelsea’s stature. I think that’s been obvious for a decade at least. 
 

the 20% is a big contrast with say Dallas cowboys. It would be interesting to understand that better.

Once the bid date closes, does anyone know the timeframe they have to select the best one. There must be a date.

All parties want a quick sale, the broker has said the deal could be done by March 31.... As soon as the transaction is done we immediately become detached from Abramovich and can operate as normal. So April 1 is the best estimate.

Sky were talking about this earlier and a lot will depend if each stage has to be run it’s course before the next is started . 
 

For instance the suggestion is that early next week a short list of 3 will be drawn up. It could be that the FA address the  owners test for all those involved in a 3 bids at that point  as opposed to waiting for the  final selection being made and then run the owners test.

You would think that the potential owners would wand to carryout due diligence although again the suggestion is that at least one of the consortium have already completed this . Add to that I suspect that legal minds will be dealing with different aspects of the sale as we talk. For instance validation of funds ,  what happens to the proceeds of sale, how will the write off of debt be shown in accounting records etc 

Its pretty obvious that a lot of work will still need to be done but the reality is that the final task  will just be the transfer of shares which will I guess just be nodded through by the directors. 

So back to timelines my guess is that we are still a good month away from change of ownership but once the sale has been agreed my guess is you will see alternative arrangements made re how the club can get back to normal trading and that will I suspect sell of tickets

The quickest the PL have ever conducted out the test to see if the owner and director are fit is 10 days although Richard Masters did hint that record could be beaten the dilemma is if one fails

Under the circumstances the EPL will be smashing that record, they won't be faffing around, they'll want a quick disconnect from Abramovich.

Most commentators believe that it will be difficult for the Saudi Media group to buy the club without their being a public outcry or lengthy drawn out process. It does make sense to be honest and I can understand given the politics involved.

I am far from sure it would fail there has been talk that they will change the criteria but as things stand the same rules will apply as did for the Newcastle owners. 
The real delay re the Newcastle takeover was more do do with copy right and broadcast rights  the issues as to Saudi law and issues around Human Rights etc were I suspect not even a feature because at the end of the  day they are looking at anyone who has more than 10% of the shares or registered directors. In the initial stages I very much doubt that the directors will change it will initially be about ownership with directors coming and going as is the norm.

The suggestion is that the Government will distance themselves from the final choice , politically that makes sense but one thing that was 100% apparent the FA and the PL will have to stick to their rule book and won’t  deviate from it for fear of litigation,

Negotiating? Negotiating what it is at the bidding stage. 

They are the most likely to run us like Roman imo. 100% ownership power, no place for fans on the board or involved, etc.

Seems most other groups are scrambling for Chelsea linked people or more funds while they sit there in silence.

They love it, they only do it for extra brand publicity, we should charge them extra for it when they lift the suspension.

I suspect that growth in commercial will be an outcome of the ownership change maybe charging more but I suspect that we will see quite a few new “partnerships “
