John Obi Mikel on Osimhen to Chelsea saga:

🎙️ "Paul Winstanley was really, really amazing. I can tell you that because this guy, the sporting director, is somebody that I've spoken to now, I get to know really well now, and hearing from him, it's amazing.

It's refreshing to see where the club, the owners and the Sporting directors, especially Paul want to take the club to, there's so much to be happy and excited about."

Be nice if Winstanley told the rest of us too, instead of in a chat with Mikel

They both want control.

Regardless what the media want you to believe, Chelsea is a very good investment to keep and i aint surprised they would fight for it.

They are already in the black financially even with the chaos of the last 3 years and they have enough assets in players to keep them there a while. The club just needs stability and the hope these kids can be a good squad in a couple of years to compete at the top level.

They will still buy talent every season but hopefully not that many. Keep any good ones and flip the rest for profit. It took them a year or 2 and a few fk ups but I guess they feel that they are slowly learning and succeeding (profit made this summer).

Even if its all true, then either side will have to come up with 2.5-3.5bil ish? That's already more than they initially bought the club for. And as it's mentioned in previous posts by others, multi billionaires wouldn't hesitate if they could.

We really aren't in a bad place at all, regardless what most want us to believe.

I just hope for the sake of the club whatever happens its at least amicable. Who needs TV dramas when you have chelsea football club!

Agree with pretty much all of what you have said mate. Things may look completely bonkers, and to be fair at times it is, but we have some great talent on the books and we're always picking up young lads with a lot of potential. If even a handful of them can come good, things will be looking up. I really believe that we, with this squad, will win the UEFA Conference this year which should keep the fanbase happy- it's the only European trophy we haven't won and it'd be great to complete the collection!

But yeah, to be honest I'm not really bothered about who owns the club as long as they have CFC's best interests at heart and they understand that we should be competing for major honours each year.

Paez, Estevao, and Santos from what I can tell weren't even scouted by either Winstanley or Stewart, and they probably go if Clearlake were to leave.

Ok you've aroused my curiosity ... 🙂

Care to elaborate on what's behind your conclusion here ?

Ever since Lukaku joined it's been cursed season after cursed season from the top down. As others have mentioned, within the next few months, both camps are going to push narratives out to different journalists and the media is going to pick sides as well. This is really going to be a long season.

🤣

A year or 2 if lucky with one of them giving up then yeah, maybe.

CFC is way too good an investment not to fight for it. Boehly brought clearlake in. I'm guessing he had to pitch it to them as they came in very late. So they probably weren't all that interested tbh, it's not their usual type of investment. But now they are adamant they won't sell and actually interested in buying the rest out.

Same with Boehly too. He can see the value and I also stand by I really really think he wants to be a fan. Ahhhhhh. 😄

Regardless of all the crap in the media...its too good an investment to just leave it.

So...who will cave in first. Who's willing to fight it longer. Who's got access to enough money to persuade the other to leave.

If they try to buy boehly and Co out how much higher than the 1.5bil are they going to have to go?

How much more than the 2.5bil that Boehly has to come up with to buy clearlake out?

🤷‍♂️

If they want to they can settle this in a month if one party steps down right now and sells their shares to the other. If they don't, then a few years isn't a bad answer.

Lol

What I don't get is that we were led to believe shares couldn't be traded for 10 years.

Maybe it's allowed if it's between the owners though ?

To have co owners with drastically different views on the running of our club is just yet another f**k up that we don't need.

If there's to be a buyout I hope it's Boehey as sole owner, but can't really see it

It's just another thing to add to our established laughing stock status

Unless...the actual FOOTBALL team becomes the focus of the media and other fans because it is so fantastic and wonderful!

Everything around this club at the moment is PR managed and smoke and mirrors.

So many 'influencers' being invited to the Bridge at the hospitality of the owners to try to paint a good picture of the club. We don't have a clue what the management structure is and who does what at the club. Everything we're reading online about Boehly would be best for 'x' reason or Eghbali would be best for 'y' reason is all just guess work or bias bought opinions.

God i miss Roman. Still can't believe the club was stolen from him like it was.

Santos was signed that first summer before we brought in Winstanley and Stewart.

I believe Paez was first scouted by the club in the latter stages of 2022.

Joe Shields was reportedly heavily involved in the Estevao deal.

Nearly 2 million posts, the longest-running community for Chelsea fans, 18 years running with another 10 before that on the old CSR... and the club hasn't even donated a quid!

Where can we get those invites?

Well, we were ok on the football front after that lump Lukaku joined. 3rd place finish if I'm not mistaken and a couple of super and world club cups , plus 2 domestic cup finals going down to penalties if I've got the dates correct? Not that Lukaku had much to do with anything by then.

The real mess started when the club was sanctioned and sold.

Boehly put alot of his personal money into the club which is why I’m far more inclined to trust him than the Clearlake team.

He clearly sees this as a long term project and he wants us to win everything.

Perhaps Clearlake are more professional and can do their job better than Boehly but I just can’t trust them.

I absolutely agree with everything Boehly is saying. Hire the experts and leave it to them. No need for the owners to get too involved.

broke even on transfers this summer. About -£700m in net spend from previous transfer windows. Wage bill reduced by £20m but missing out on £40m a year not being in the CL. Lost revenue from no shirt sponsor (again).

Yeah ain't no way this is even close to profitable for the owners yet

Yeah, like I said I was only mentioning this transfer window. I'm sure there's still debt from that loan too and more financial issues (which I go blank on when reading) but we are heading in the right direction, I think.

And yep we missed out on CL and on more money from sponsorship but doesn't that help the argument that once they fix their fkups* we would be even more in the black or at least closer to it.

*(fkups aren't a deal breaker in any way, not saying they are all small fixes, there's big ones too, but they are fixable)

I don't think their contracts change when the sporting directors change.

I also think if they are good enough, regardless who's here at the end they would still try them out and not just get rid of them out of spite. They still cost the club money so it will be in their best interest not to act in spite or anger.

Something that was in articles was Boehly has a 20-30yr plan while clearlake have a 10yr plan. No idea if true, just what I read.

A prohibition on paying dividends and taking management fees for 10 years.

Boehly must be kicking himself now for trying to spread his risk and bringing in these corporate vultures.

I thought he had to because he didn't have the rest of the money to buy chels.

And that's about managing risk isn't it?

So he went for an institutional investor with deep pockets. If he knew they'd be so misaligned in approach I bet he wouldn't have brought them on.

The government put unrealistic deadlines in place, everything had to be rushed through.

A deal this size usually takes a lot longer to finalise. ( Apparently)

Another thing , who is it that makes sure that the contract stipulations are adhered too ?

The stuff about paying dividends, the new or rebuilt stadium, etc , which were all part of the winning bid ?
