If you’re ignorant to the reasons please read back this thread or do your own research on why we needed a club overhaul due to Russian ties/worries. Todd made mistakes in making himself SD, not an overhaul so don’t try to gaslight me. When you have educated yourself and come up with valuable argument ill continue this conversation. Just my opinion but I think the biggest failing was no immediate plan B when Edwards turned down the job leading to Todd and TT in charge of recruiting for that all important first window. I think also TT not in a great place personally at the time and being more or less forced into a role that he clearly didn't want to take on really didn't help him in that regard. Maybe the alternates to Edwards were not available until much later but for certain I think TB just got it totally wrong thinking he and TT could get away with fulfilling that role in the short term until they did find an alternative. Arrogance?...Naivety? I really don't know.

I also think that not being able to persuade Cech to stay in the short term, at least in transition during that first transfer window was a huge blow given the link between him and Tuchel. feel it just needed a respected "football person" in situ to help facilitate recruitment for that first window, which imo just required identifying the holes in what was an elite CL squad, and enhancing those positions where we were lacking (eg the loss of Ruddier) to ensure the squad had a chance of maintaining that level.

Unfortunately we got it badly wrong and have been trying to play catch up from that moment onwards, and speaking as a fan just such a massive disappointment given how we'd managed to stick together (the Tuchel "I'll drive the bus" moment etc etc) under the adversity of the forced sale of the club and the associated problems that brought.

In a strange way the last few years has almost seen the club go "full circle" during my time of supporting the club I love, It began in 67 building to the excitement of the squad we built culminating in those magnificent FA Cup and CWC wins. The excitement generated by our plans to redevelop the ground and the prospect of building on our success only to feel the pain of the sudden fall from those heights as the squad disintegrated and the East Stand disaster leaving us victims of our own ambitions nearly destroying the club. Must admit when the Government ordered the forced sale of the club did beg the question at the time as to the future have we gone full circle from when I began supporting.

No idea where we are going to end up with these owners and at my age may never see the "finale" so to speak, however I just crave to have a reconnection of, at least the players/manager and fans and the chance to show my appreciation to the efforts on the pitch for a group of players who enjoy playing for the shirt , and performances that excite, win lose or draw and make me want to continue going to games while I am still able and proud to do so.

I feel sorry for Palace, however they will now have to win the Conference and qualify automatically for the Europa the year after.

They feel hard done by but they actually missed a deadline. There is no need to blame multi club structures as it is currently an acceptable modus operandi.

Good luck to Palace in the Conference, they might be wise to hang on to a few of their players as they will need a bigger squad with these extra games.

Confidence in ignorance is my term for it. Todd didn't know what to do but he had a 1B in his back pocket and winged it until a structure was put into place.

They were, under the rules, always on a hiding to nothing. Textor owned 43% of Palace. The mitigation is that only very very late in the day - Cup day, way past the deadline - was it apparent that Palace had a chance at Europe. Forest were always in with a chance hence the owner acted. Sad for players and fans but what's the alternative? Bend the rules for an underdog?

I am not sure it is a direct dig at us, as when it became a possibility that us and Strasbourg could qualify we took measures making us ready to not fall foul of the regs. Whether BlueCo somehow encourage Strasbourg sudden decline in fortunes in the last week or two is open to debate.

Personally i took this as a reference to Jim Ratcliffe and Man Utd, being allowed in the same competition as Nice.

There is a little bit on Textor though as well. We all know that its a total crock and is just yet another nail in coffin of most fans' "Roy of the Rovers" imagery of the beautiful game. But you would have thought that he would have made similar arrangements, although i also agree that Palace would have been far less experienced in these matters than the boards of other European competition clubs.

It really is the perfect example of why these regulations are complete bullsh*t designed to preserve the status quo.

Yes, Palace made an administrative mistake by failing to comply with a deadline. Yet there is now a situation where Palace have been punished for alleged multi-club ownership when they are factually not part of a multi-club entity, while clubs who logically are part of a multi-club entity are permitted to compete - including Palace's direct replacement!

Thing is, even though they aren't a multi-club now, they still gained an advantage from Textor's investment over the last 5 years, around £150m cash. The investment allowed them to consolidate being a comfortable EPL club able to acquire and hold on to players like Eze, Guehi and Mateta. That doesn't diminish what they've done this season in anyway, but it's false to say they haven't benefitted from their ownership model.

My point in posting this is UEFA and this whole weird construction of a 'system' is laughable. Palace didn't do this wording with the help of their lawyers just for spite. They mean it and are probably 100% right. I am glad they and other clubs have spoken out.

It seems there is UEFA and the clubs. Those two should be unified.

When the club was bought, they bought Roman's Chelsea . Chelsea FC without any debt. A top level elite Premier League football club

Everything was the same , the team, the Champions League winning manager, and players, coaches, scouts, backroom staff the infrastructures etc etc Sanctions had been lifted , the government aim to remove our club from a Russian Oligarch had been achieved., and their interference had ended ..

Now you explain why the owners couldn't acknowledge their total ignorance of football, and of our club and of everything football related , and take a step back before making enormous decisions . It's not a secret is it? Fans have a voice and they didn't make their voice heard enough before deadline day.
