Bayern don't cater to the whim of what the manager wants though. It's just paper talk I reckon.

It's annoying. The argument it's OK to sell Mount because we have Gallagher is something I disagree with more and more with every passing match week. The thought of Gallagher gracing the Bernabéu running like a headless chicken against Modric & Tchouameni makes my stomach turn. I pray Mount is fit in time.

For me, either Mount stays and Gallagher gets sold, or both get sold. There's only one player in the two that's good enough to play here.

Well said; at Bayern Tuchel is just a trainer,  Brazzo signs the players. All the links to Chelsea players is just paper talk, or agents been mischievous. There is also the small problem of if he ends up there he isn’t starting ahead of Mane, Muller, Musiala, Gnabry or Sane, so a non starter.

I thought the argument is that if Mount gets sold the money will be used to fund the Felix transfer? Gallagher IMO will either get sold or remain a squad player regardless of if Mount leaves or stays.

If we are being prudent makes zero sense to be going after Felix when Nkunku plays the same role, & coming in the summer. With a £120m net loss on the books, it will be madness & typical Boehly to sell Mount for £50m just to buy Felix for £80m, & stick him on £250k/w without European football.

Felix wont be on 250k a week, the way our new wages have been structured (jan signings onwards) they are actually all on quite lowish wages, with performances bonuses to make them go higher. I think Mudryk is on under 100k and Enzo is on about 150k base wages.

Highly doubt felix is gonna get 250k base

Why would he take a wage cut to play for us? Enzo was on €48k at Benfica so we are paying him 3-4x his wages, we are also paying Murdyk 3-4x his Shaktar wages. You don’t pay a player £250k/w for a 5mth loan, and they turn around and tell him to take a £100k/w or so pay cut. Won’t happens, plus his agent is Jorge Mendes who unfortunately Boehly has gotten in bed with to help in buying a Portuguese club. Won’t be surprised if signing Felix permanently is one of the conditions Mendes wants to be met before he helps in that regards.

Thats not entirely what I said. I said the BASE wages would be lower, but with the performance based bonuses it could go higher than what he earns currently.

I saw something somewhere saying Enzo as on 300k a week, and also somewhere that says hes on about 150k a week. I can only assume that the difference in reports, which is never this far off, is the difference between base wages and the max he could get with the bonuses.

Plus when you are earning this much money anyway, I dont think it makes too much difference anyway. A player would more likely take slightly less wages if it means hes much happier

Makes me wonder if Reece would have signed a new deal had he been offered the same terms as Mount.

Why not? He isn’t having a good season, and has spent the bulk of the season out injured.

Still regarded as one of the very best in his position though.

I don't doubt he could get 300k a week at Real or City.

They might pay 300k a week.

Wouldnt get in either first xi though.

Have to disagree there Jim, for me James is better than anyone they can offer at right back. Than anyone in the world can imo.

£300k? Didn’t City laugh Sterling out of the club for demanding £300k/w+? He isn’t getting that City with Ruben Dias on £175k/w. The Real Madrid links were wild IMO, Madrid had Hakimi who is a better WB & sold him becos there were doubts he could play in a back 4. Madrid also have stopped with the daft wages becos they have been burnt several times. Vinicius Jnr is on £185k/w, so James definitely isn’t getting that. Any potential buyer would be wary of scary injury record; prior to this season he was missing 30% of games, this season it has gone up to 55%. You would be crazy to give a player missing half of your games £300k/w.

Clubs are becoming tougher on wages, but it's different for players that a club wants vs players that a club want to move on from. Sterling was rejected for £300k/w, but Haaland certainly wasn't.

Sorry - I posted in an early morning haze when my eyes were still half closed. Thought the comment was in reference to Mase - hence my reply.

Agree that a fit and in form James is best in class. Seeing that less and less recently,  but still true.

I don't think this Mount case is very complicated. If we want to keep him we can keep him. Mount prefers Chelsea.

As Bayern and Liverpool are circling around him, his position in negotiations are getting stronger.

He'd be Muller's replacement who's played less this year. He'd also be ahead of Gnabry and Sane in one of the hybrid 10 roles behind Mane up top. Musiala and Mount behind Mane wins the CL again.

Musiala is one of our own...one that slipped away. If we just had those satellite-clubs...

Wouldn't have made a difference.

It's not that simple. He's rejected multiple contract offers. The club clearly wants to keep him yet Mount values himself far more than the alleged £180kpw he is being offered. He wants a shorter contract length and less incentive base structures. I understand and respect Mount looking after himself but we need to stop being so sentimental and start thinking on the club's perspective. A player who has been out of form for 1.5-2 years not wanting performance related wages (something every other player has agreed on) isn't something the club can easily agree to.

The James comparison has its discrepancies given James is genuinely one of, if not the best in the world in his position. Our entire operation is now run by footballing minds, so they probably value James a lot higher and feel he can get over his injuries over time and prolong his career (much like Kyle Walker).

The club clearly value Mount but not anymore than what is being offered. Again, we are now being run by footballing minds so either they believe Mount is worth what he's worth and/or they feel he won't ever develop to a level that exceeds his current value.

Mase is a top player and a hard worker, bit as Roman had his firm 1 year only for over 30s rule, Todd and co want performance related pay structure to be implemented, and likely will only go above and beyond for Mbappe like player.

Mase is not in that category, so this ends in him leaving I feel. I just hope if he does go he agrees to be sold and not wind down his contract, as that would get messy I think.

Yes but what are the performance indicators?

Goals? Dumb for a midfielder. Appearances? Unfair given the squad size and injury rate. If performance-based pay was viable it would be adopted by every big club in Europe by now.
