Plan B - Barcelona is Blue? :hiding:

Interesting , with two starters i haven't seen us linked with?, nonetheless not bad, Zouma definitely wouldn't be in my Starting XI, puts the Don in Donkey imho..

Yeah maybe Izzy Brown is good enough to be on the fringes of the squad and see if he ever reaches his potential but, ahead of Ziyech and Willian?

He’s also 23 now. Don’t think he will ever reach the potential he had a few years ago.

He showed glimpses of it this season? Maybe you're right though, I don't disagree.

Assuming a 4-3-3 formation (Also I believe loan rules are changing so we will have to get rid of lots of the loan army):

GK: Onana, Cabellero
LB: [NEW], Alonso
CB: Rice, Zouma
CB: Christensen, [NEW]
RB: Azpilicueta, James
DM: Kante, Gilmour
CM: Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek
CM: Havertz, Mount
LW: Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi
ST: Werner, Abraham, Giroud
RW: Ziyech, Willian

OUT [SELL]

- Kepa (Probably 2 year loan with option to buy or some bollocks, as we won't get much for him now)
- Emerson - Just never shown himself to be good enough
- Rudiger - Simply not good enough
- Jorginho - I just don't think he's suited to the fast, attacking play Lampard wants, someone like Kovacic can offer much the same, but he's much more dynamic
- Barkley
- Van Ginkel - Time to finally move him on
- Batshayui - Please
- Bakayoko - Pretty please
- Drinkwater - For the love of God, get rid
- Zappacosta -
- Baba Rahman
- Miazga
- Clarke-Salter
- Izzy Brown
- Kenedy
- Victor Moses
- Piazon
- Musonda

If we manage to get rid of all of those, we'll probably bring in about £100m, maybe a bit more.

OUT [LOAN]

- Tomori - Premier league team
- Ampadu - Premier league team

IN

- Havertz - At this point I'm just assuming we'll sign him, probably for about 80-90m or something
- Onana - I think I read he was available for about 30m?
- Rice - Probably talking about 40m for him, which is too much, but if Lampard wants a young, English player with a Chelsea heart to build around, then may have to pay it
- [NEW LB] Few names mentioned, need someone who is strong defensively as well as going forward though, and not slow like Alonso.
- [NEW CB] No idea who is realistically available. Perhaps it wouldn't be necessary, with a new goalkeeper and just generally better defensive coaching, we'll see.

If Pulisic and Azpi are long term injuries, we're going to need players to replace them for half a season. I think it would make sense to save some money and promote youth if we have any gems that are good/hungry enough or perhaps use Zappacosta as second choice RB and Moses/Kenedy as a winger if Willian doesn't sign.

I think you’re pretty much spot on here. I’d be tempted to just sell both Rüdiger and Christensen, and then keep Tomori around while bringing in Rice and another CB.

Not sure that Willian will end up staying, even though he missed the final due to injury I don’t see Frank being too happy about the interviews and comments by his agent.

It is a no brainer to sign Onana in my opinion. All day. When Kepa is not so low on confidence, I actually think their abilities are pretty close. However, Onana is miles ahead of what Kepa gave us this season, and for the low price he is available he should be our main target between the posts.

For CB targets, that is a tough spot. Rumors of Gimenez from Atletico but he will cost a very large fee. I actually think we could roll with Rice and Zouma if we bring in a better LB and GK.

This is pretty spot on apart from the fact Zouma needs to partner Rice. He's far better than Christensen who is weak and epotimises the current weaknesses that we show as a collective.

They got an early start but now is where Roman,  Marina and Petr become the star players and we need them to deliver their best summer in many, many years.

Furthering this we also need to see an effort and removing many players form our squad, either sales or loans, even if we need to pay some of them off to do so.

Kepa

Alonso

Emerson

Rudiger

Christensen

Zouma

Bakayoko

Drinkwater

Van Ginkel

Various loan players

Jorginho

Batman

Probably some I forgot too.

Furthermore in terms of prices we can realistically hope for in the covid market.

Kepa - 5mill loan few per year for 2 year loan

Alonso - 15mill, his goals will attract offers.

Emerson - 12mill, is obvious we fo not want him.

Rudiger - 15mill

Christensen - 20mill

Zouma - 20mill

Bakayoko - 8mill plus us covering difference in wages.

Drinkwater - either a loan where we pay most of his wages or we pay him off to leave.

Van Ginkel - free

Kante - 50mill

Jorginho - 35mill

Batman - 8mill plus us paying difference in wages.

Think those are realistic prices. Brings in 188mill. If the rumours are true the money is used to strengthen us defensively then we could spend:

Onona - 30mill

Tagliafico - 30mill

Rice - 60mill

Ake - 40mill

Leaves 28 mill over and a few loans to sell to raise further funds to buy another centerback or a defensive midfielder if Rice plays as a centerback.

Rice - 60mill

I also think the Hammers will want £60m for Rice and think that will put us off.

I think we get Oblak and then get a LB and defensive mid, the last two no big names.

The only players of value we sell (>£15m) will likely be:

Kepa, Jorginho, Rudiger or Christensen combined bring back about £95m (we will struggle .. haggling etc).

Other players sales likely bring in about £30m in total.

You could be right. We are being linked with real Madrid on loan left back at Sevilla for around 20mill.

I'm surprised about how many are willing to get rid of Kante, thinking that he is used goods. In the list of central midfielders, Kante is one of the last I'd sell, unless we received an offer that we couldn't refuse. I would get rid of Barkley and Jorginho in the center of the pitch. In the back I think I would get rid of Rudiger before Christensen or Zouma, but I'd be willing to let any of the three walk for the right price. I'd probably try to keep Zouma the hardest. I think for LB I would sell Emerson and keep Alonso due to his ability as a LWB. In attack, Pedro and Willian (probably) are already gone and as for striker, I'd sell Bats. I hate letting Bats go, he is one of my favorite players on Chelsea, but it just hasn't worked out for him at the club.

That allows me to bring in Ziyech, Werner, and hopefully Havertz. That also lets me find a new LB and CB and as for an additional striker for Bats I could look to the academy, but Werner's flexibility allows him to play multiple positions. Up top or out wide. Havertz has also shown the ability to play as a striker if he is forced to do it.

That, I think, is what excites me the most about the players we have brought in, and are looking to bring in. They all have positional versatility.

Can't be the only one who thinks Rudi is going nowhere?
Really think most of these players know whether their future is at risk this window and I really don't believe he'd talk Timo and possibly Havertz into joining if he knew he'd be leaving.

If we manage to get rid of everyone on the out list, we will get much more than 100m. Jorginho alone is worth at least 45m

Thats why we need to get Havertz first, and then can get rid of Rudi.

One of the most important things next season is to keep our youth involved, this season they have done an incredible job for us. First season in the PL, one of them is our top scorer. With all the incoming signings, these players might lose hope, or their morale will go down so mental work is the first thing we have to do.

We all saw our problems, all came from behind. When you build a team, you start from the defense. Unfortunately, Kepa is a big disappointment. If he wants to be 2nd choice, then welcome. If not, I'd sell him.

We need a world class CB, experienced one, physically strong, leader, not just a good CB. Plus we need to sign a good LB who firstly can defend properly.

Our midfield is pretty good, we can sell two players if we sign Harvetz. I'd sell Barkley and Jorginho. Good money and more space for Gilmour and RLC.

Our attack is pretty good as well, with Ziyech and Werner + Abraham, Pulisic, Giroud, CHO we're looking not bad.

This is my dream squad:

GK's: Andre Onana, Willy Caballero, Cummings

CB's: Kalidou Koulibaly, Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori, Antonio Rudiger

RB's: Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta

LB's: Alex Telles/Alex Grimaldo, Marcos Alonso, Maatsen

CDM's: NGolo Kante, Billy Gilmour

CM's: Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek

AM's: Kai Harvetz, Mason Mount

Wingers: Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson Odoi, Hakim Ziyech

Strikers: Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud

Liking that Squad, there is definitely going to be some upheaval, a real "fire ale of the unrequited Dead wood, something we really need to do, if Frank has his way of playing, it really doesn't matter who the player is, Round plugs in square holes is a no no, Pace, Ability, technique, and finishing, i've said before it feels like the start of Romans reign, when all those shiny new toys were bought and  assembled. KTBFFH
