Wouldn’t turn my nose up at that line up. When’s FIFA out? :laugh2:

In all honesty idk but I'm actually wondering about the PS5 price so in case this doesn't happen I might just make a historical fiction out of this on the "new gen" lmao

Realistically speaking, I think we can bring in another 4 signings, but thats at best.

Havertz, LB, CB and GK.

LB - One of Reguilon/Tagliafico would be my pick as they are both better than Chilwell and cheap

CB - Gimenez or Upamecano seems like the dream situation, but unrealistic so not sure who else to bring in atm

GK - Ideally Oblak, but we aren't going to have the budget so im not sure what to do here

Might need to sell more players, and go big again next summer to get everyone we need

Havertz

I'm really not convinced there will be many more transactions. I think Covid will put players off wanting to move but more importantly the selling clubs know the market is depressed and will be holding out until it picks up. This may not be until next summer.

Utd are trying to get Sancho on the "cheap" but Dortmund are holding out for top dollar. Dortmund know he has 2 more years to run on his contract so they don't have to sell right now and will get a better price next season. Havertz has a contract of the same length so BL are also holding out for top dollar.

We had a very good start to the window and the club have already signed two top quality players. I'd love Havertz to come in but if it fell through and we improved the defense I would still be happy.

I really can't see 4 more signings though. We need top quality to improve from where we are and those types of players are not so easy to come by.

4 signings isn't really that bad though. Its literally Havertz, LB, CB, GK. Or LB and 2 CB's which i think is doable.

I agree they're not easy to come by, but I think if we manage at least Havertz + LB and CB then I think we're good enough to go another year and we can strengthen further next year

That would be six in total which is very unusual. I remember Spuds spent the Bale money in one go and bought a load of rubbish.

For me the main issue is leadership at the back and I include a goalkeeper in that. If we bought a strong character CB and a good goalkeeper I think we could challenge for top 4 again. I'm keen to see Ampadu brought back into the fold and hopefully he can make it as center back.

I think a new strong keeper will give everybody a bit more confidence at the back. Frank obviously has his doubts about Kepa and Kepa knows it. Its not good to be going into a new season with a keeper who knows the coach doesn't entirely trust him.

I think next season is coming a bit too fast for us to challenge for the very top so next year is about consolidation and a slight improvement. I will be happy if we see an improvement in defense and perhaps a couple more players show some leadership qualities.

6 in total is not too bad, but yeah I agree that we need to be careful. If we can get a good CB and a GK or CB and LB then i'll be good enough with that.

Next season if we can close the gap between the top 2 and be somewhat close in the points tally and do much better defensively, then thats a very good season imo.

Next summer our new signings would have had a year to settle in, and we can do the final touches to the squad in signing 2-3 players and sell off the rest of the deadwood and we'll be challenging for the top honours the year after.

I think our struggle will be in offloading enough players to keep the squad size and wage bill manageable ... it's probably a case of "one out one in", but can we ship out enough players to allow for a new LB, CB (or 2), GK and AM ?

With the new loan rules it’ll have be seven out, one in.

If its 1 out 1 in I think we will be able to deal with only one out  of GK LB or CB this window.

Most likely to happen is LB due to strong links for BC (although imo the priority should be GK > CB > LB).

I hope I am wrong..

I agree about the priority order ... a good left-sided centre back would probably instantly improve the current left backs, and a good, vocal and commanding GK would improve the entire defence !

Unfortunately not. A good CB will not help Emerson or Alonso run any faster.

A bit off subject but fixtures for next season to be announced tomorrow.

Ahhh, the days when I would peruse our fixtures list to find a suitable date to come over for a match. Oh yes, my children, way back there was a crowd in the stands :connie_oldman_cleanglasses:

Giroud, Cumming, Anjorin to make up the rest of the squad.

My own personal opinion but, I don't think Chelsea would purchase Rice and have him be a backup CB or DCM. I mean possible if he came here and just flopped on his face but if they spend 60-80M on Rice (I don't think it'll happen) he is gonna play.

I think he would start regularly too, either at centre back or defensive midfield. Didnt really mean he would be a back up, hard to put it across on that picture!

I think it is very dependent on player sales after Havertz.

Ahh, I gotcha ?
