Erling Haaland

Featured Replies

Haaland connected to chelsea on the BBC gossip page for 3 days in a row (different newspapers/sources). I know it doesn't mean much but it definitely puts a smile on my face thinking chelsea can get him.

Where Haaland is concerned I think its all a domino effect. City can't afford Messi and Haaland, PSG can't afford Messi and Mbappe. Real Madrid can't afford Mbappe and Haaland. So it comes down to which player each team decides to prioritise.

Whoever shows the most interest and is willing to put up the funds likely gets him and if the smoke is to be believed that could be us. Since we're not realistically after Messi or Mbapps, we have a decent shout my only fear is who do we go for if he chooses someone else.

In my opinion if we were going to go for Haalan I would then think we need someone like Cesc that can find him, on the cheap Eriksen might work. Yet if we get Eriksen we are also going to need a better defensive minded midfielder and that could be Rice.

You can't spend a massive ammount on a forward and then not have someone to supply him it would be so short sighted.

I personally feel we have 3 players at the club who can fulfil that role but unfortunately all 3 are incredibly young and will take time to truly develop their creative potential.

The players I am talking about are Billy, Mount & Kai.

Chelsea is going to have a hard time convincing any top striker to come here until they fix the offense. Werner and CHO make runs and no one gets them the ball. They need a CB who can chip and make the long passes to put the strikers in scoring. They also need someone on the left WB to do the same. Chilwelll can do it, however for some reason Tuchel keeps sending out Alonso who has been horrible for the last few games.

Yeah my biggest fear for Haaland is to come here where we have no creativity and he struggles. We haven't had good creative players since Eden and Cesc. The jury is out on how consistent Hakim can be but aside from him no one is truly an elite playmaker.

Mount & Kai have the potential to be and maybe CHO .

I think that Christensen and Rudiger can pass the ball well but I'm not sure if they can spot a run. Alonso used to put up good sharp balls into the box but this season his crosses were mostly blocked from what I watched.

Ziyech has a great passing ability but sadly he can't find his place in the current system I think he's used to a 4-3-3, on paper Ziyech should be dictating our play with Kai and Mount but it's just not going to happen in a 3-4-2-1/5-3-2 formation.

We have too many different kinds of players, Werner + Haaland could work in a 4-4-2 but then there wouldn't be enough space for Mount and Havertz and if we play 4-4-1-1 Mount or Havertz would need to be on the bench and Werner as well. Either way we're not meant to play with a back 3 IMO.

I've watched alot of his highlights and when things aren't 5his way he plays with a massive chip on his shoulder....this can go one of two ways....he would turn into someone like Costa (aggressive and scores to proof a point) or someone thing like we have seen from Ziyech so far(disappears and can't be bothered)

The highlights I've seen of haaland he is more of a Costa....he can turn into an absolute beast. We have a habit of ruining top talents but this lad is one of the sort of players that would shine for us. I would like to see us swap him with Ziyech and put up 30 mil for him.

Ziyech would be great in Bundesliga. I feel it would be a win for everybody

In all honesty if we take off the blue tinted specs, if he has a choice to go to City who are always top 4, always investing and mostly investing well and create loads of chances, he would be mad not to go there.

This is why if we sign him it will be the biggest steal ever... more or less.

The worst timeline if true. Sadly I'm not too fussed, phenomenal footballer but I was scared we would curse him 😂.

All jokes aside though can't say I didn't see this coming. If you are a young player projected to be arguably the best player in the world then your career path has to be very specific and you cannot risk wasting years of your potential.

In this case sadly I think it is our track record for young signings that has gone against us. All you have to do is look at our history of young signings and see how only a few really worked out (Oscar & Hazard) I'm sure I'm forgetting at least 1 or 2 but the point still stands.

Funnily enough though, the reason being given is we are not elite enough sadly I have to agree. Call it what it is despite making top 4 the last two seasons he needs to be at a club which is guaranteed to be in the champions league every season heck that's the main reason he may leave Dortmund early in the first place.

It seems like its going to be a mad summer where the prem is concerned we could see Haaland move to City or Liverpool. Maybe Messi move to City and or Mbappe to Liverpool.

Luckily we already signed plenty of good players last summer and they will have a year's experience under their belt. Not to mention until we see Kai play regularly as a false 9 I won't discount him as part of our future strike force alongside Werner and someone else (Pulisic/Ziyech/CHO).

That begs the question if we can't sign Haaland and we still want an out and out striker since Giroud will probably leave who do we go for?

Man City need to win the CL first to be Elite, secondly, only us and city will readily splash the cash, Liverpool, and Man U didn’t and won’t, Barca and Real are properly stuffed, which leaves you with  the Fiat boys at Juve, mark these words..

Reports coming out now that Haaland wants to join a top, top club and he doesn’t see us as one.

Well, get f*cked then Haaland. So he’s going to join Man City instead, who had Paul Dickov up top only just over 10 years ago.

Manchester clubs battle it out for him I think.

From Haaland's camp six clubs have been mentioned and we are not one of them:

Utd, City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

That means our striker possibilities are still open.

Wasn't Werner pretty much a Liverpool player according to "journalists" last summer window?

Yep. They made it sound like it was a foregone conclusion at one stage.

Mino Raiola would sell Haaland to Peterborough United if the money was right.

One day I hope people will learn that these "In the know" journalists and twatter weirdos know nothing more than we do, and all they do is throw as much sh*t at a wall as possible hoping some stick and makes them look knowledgeable.

Some of them make sh*t up, some are given untrue information and report it as fact (bad journalism), and some genuinely attempt to report the facts (basically only Matt Law). Nobody actually knows anything - the part that irks me is they all act like they do.

Yeah thats true, but even the ones who get told some things are only told what the club want them to know, and thats not necessarily the truth....basically never believe any transfer rumour until he has a pen in his hand and a signed contract

He's a Leeds fan so that alone probably put us up against it.

Erling Haaland: Chelsea join Man United, rest of Europe in transfer battle (espn.com)

"Senior figures at Chelsea believe they can tempt Borussia Dortmund and tempt Erling Haaland into moving to the Premier League this summer, according to ESPN sources, as a growing number of Europe's heavyweights plot their moves.

Sources told ESPN that Chelsea feel there are several elements in their favour, not least an attractive financial package, but also the prospect of Haaland becoming the centre-piece of a young, expensively assembled team.

Chelsea spent £220 million on six players last summer but there are indications behind the scenes that owner Roman Abramovich is willing to sanction further spending this summer. Chelsea are the only club in London with a realistic chance of signing Haaland and sources said the capital city could be a major draw for the striker, in addition to the club's ambition to win the biggest trophies every year."
