MNF was excellent but I would like to hear opposing views. It is very one sided.

I'm firmly against this.

But the opposing view should be,

Theres too much football currently and it's too low quality. This gives the opportunity to strip the best teams in the world back, it creates an event each week that will be insanely watchable. Players will go from playing 70 games a year to 30, they will be fitter and better quality.

I don't believe it, but that's the angle for me.

10 games at home, 10 games away. So 20. That is quite a bit more than 6.

I didnt realize that mate, that is extreme. Every midweek of season pretty much. Your right, that would put a massive strain on fixtures.

Although probably still achievable if they start them in august, abandon carabao cup, and finish the league format in January when there are usually a few free midweeks.

Saw this - good points:

• UEFA failed with FFP and have actively tried to create a super league in the past

• FIFA have tried to expand the club World Cup for years and sold a World Cup to Qatar

• BT & Sky tried to charge us £14.99 for Brighton Vs. Burnley

Don’t make them out to be the good guys.

To be fair. BT and Sky weren't behind that pricing. That was the clubs, BT and Sky were doing this not for profit in return for getting to show more games.

Heard now what I read could be false information and there would be a table where some random draw would have each side play just 5 at home and 5 away. So may only be 10 games or could be 20. Nothing concrete yet.

Yeah the whole coverage of it has been one sided. I want to hear from owners and other view points.

What’s that? Can’t find anything about it online.

Leeds put the same training shirts that the leeds players wore in liverpools dressing room. They had the champions league logo on with the words "EARN IT" underneath, on the back was a few lines about fans being the centre of the game, can't remember exactly what it said.

In his interview, unprompted, he got all prideful about how he, his players, liverpool don't need to be lectured on earning their place. the liverpool players didn't wear the training tops. He totally missed the point that the shirts were about solidarity, respecting competativeness and that every club should have the hope or chance at getting into the Champs league, he seemed to somehow take it as a dig at liverpool.

I thought it was just a political move and “intent” to create a ESL...but if we’ve actively left the ECA, it looks like there’s no going back? Have I understood that right?

Good! Opposing views have no credibility whatsoever with this one, 99.9% of people are unified in condemnation. Anyone trying to defend this is a scab and has no place in football.

think there's 2 different things here. the Super League is proposed to be 20 teams, 15 core members and 5 "guests" who can change from year to year (how they are identified is unclear) these 20 sides would split into 2 mini-leagues of 10 playing home and away (18 games) - the top teams in each group would then enter a play-off and ultimately a final would be played.

the new plan for the Champions League has 36 sides with a random draw of 5 home and 5 away - the best teams progressing to a knockout phase.

Yes. No ECA, no place in UEFA comps.

Ah if true then yeah a lot of extra games.

Wow, so does that mean we’ve officially withdrawn in this year’s competition as well?

Now we know the 12 clubs have resigned from the ECA and are therefore ineligible for the CL and Europa League, the top 4 in England are now Leicester, West Ham, Everton and Leeds United. Wolves and Villa could be Europa League.

No the 5 left meant to stay in this season I believe, it seems the clubs believe they could stay in for the rest of this season. UEFA may kick the remaining 5 out this week though.

It was arrogance on their part to assume that this wouldn't happen. They get what they deserve. I feel for the players who will see their achievements this season ultimately rendered worthless if this happens.

Further rumours about UEFA contacting the PL and FA to inform them of their intent to replace United, Arsenal, Chelsea and City with Granada, Prague, Porto and Dortmund, and have Red bull and Atalanta playoff to replace Real Madrid. The latter list of clubs are said to have been informed.

UEFA want the FA to take the next step and have Everton face Sheff United for the right to play Leicester in the FA cup final.

Spot on.

Firstly, I am against the idea of a European Super League, and who knows if it will come to anything or is just posturing.   However, if it does go ahead I am glad Chelsea are in the cut.

I am enjoying all the outrage in the media.  If Talksport are so anti the idea will they refuse to broadcast it if it does happen?  Will all these ex-pros refuse the lucrative contracts to give their expert opinions?

I am a Chelsea fan and will support them in a European Super League, as I have done in: Division 2; Division 1; The Premier League; The Anglo Italian Cup; The FA Cup; The League/Milk/Rumblows/Carling/... Cups; and other trophies.   I still don't like the idea, but it's really just a progression from The Premier League; The Champions League; and all the money making media-fests that have materialised in the last 30 years.

What the fans want doesn't matter, if it's going to happen it will happen, and I will probably end up sat at Stamford Bridge watching one of the games someday.  If I (like most football fans) had any integrity we'd be supporting our local, non-league club as they might appreciate your support...but that wouldn't be watching Chelsea would it.

I hate the idea of this 🇺🇸 lead greed fest, but this post is honest and speaks for many more of us than would probably care to admit.

Post of the season for me.

If UEFA & FIFA carry out the threat to ban players from breakaway clubs playing for their country, will younger players want to play for those clubs?

Will the super league become a competition for has been looking for a final payday?

Money talks. It always will. Play for Burnley on 10k per week or Real Madrid on £100k? Won’t take much persuasion. Just look at China.
