Yes we really are between a rock and a hard place here. I so much preferred the CL when it was just, well, the champions from each league, but that format is no longer workable unfortunately.

Let UEFA mess up their own tournament. At least we would still have our league and cups. That is most important, the domestic game, to me.

Firstly, I am against the idea of a European Super League, and who knows if it will come to anything or is just posturing.   However, if it does go ahead I am glad Chelsea are in the cut.

I am enjoying all the outrage in the media.  If Talksport are so anti the idea will they refuse to broadcast it if it does happen?  Will all these ex-pros refuse the lucrative contracts to give their expert opinions?

I am a Chelsea fan and will support them in a European Super League, as I have done in: Division 2; Division 1; The Premier League; The Anglo Italian Cup; The FA Cup; The League/Milk/Rumblows/Carling/... Cups; and other trophies.   I still don't like the idea, but it's really just a progression from The Premier League; The Champions League; and all the money making media-fests that have materialised in the last 30 years.

What the fans want doesn't matter, if it's going to happen it will happen, and I will probably end up sat at Stamford Bridge watching one of the games someday.  If I (like most football fans) had any integrity we'd be supporting our local, non-league club as they might appreciate your support...but that wouldn't be watching Chelsea would it.

Yup we are the past, the deep pockets of elsewhere future fans are who they want.

Imagine how much money the club could make on a match day if us old bastards who know everything at the stadium is completely overpriced and a complete rip off were replaced with 42,000 gullible tourists though!

“In its place a single league stage, which includes all 36 participating teams, would be devised which would see every team guaranteed 10 'league stage' matches.

Five of those matches would be at home and the other five would be away from home.

The top eight sides from that 'league stage' format would progress to the knockout stage automatically.

Those remaining sides running from ninth to 24th would then enter two-legged eliminators to determine the other eight teams into the last-16”

Hows this new CL format supposed to be better?

Well, it's better because at least teams still have to earn their place, but I don't know how UEFA think this is better than what we currently have. It's just confusing and awkward. It's also certain to affect the domestic cups. I have no idea how its possible to fit it all in.

Re us and Real being kicked out of the CL.

That would come under Contract law, IMO.

Unless there is a stipulation that teams in the CL or FA cannot discuss breakaway groups then legally the team kicked out can sue for breach of contract.

This is going to get messy indeed, I wonder why now and not say the end of May?

MNF is interesting but I’m not sure that it’s fair that we only hear from Carragher and Neville on their views but not any views from ex players from the other 4 clubs

I can almost see Carragher and Neville being hailed as the voices for all 6 clubs.

From what I can tell all fans seem equally upset by it all, but then again this Sky Sports...

Seems like we might know if we are expelled inside 24 hours.

Yeah. It’s not having to earn their place and the disruption to the domestic league and cups that really stink more than the principle of a European Super League, which in some ways is just a logical next step from the current CL. Also what happens to clubs like Ajax in all this? The Portuguese sides? I don’t want to watch a super league without participation of some of these. The model is a disaster on so many levels. I just can’t believe they didn’t think these things through.

Klopp totally missed the point in his interview, missunderstood why liverpool fans are taking their flags out of anfield and missunderstood why leeds put the shirts in their dressing room, dissapointing.

Agreed with some of what Carragher has said and nearly all of what Neville has said, wish they'd stop putting their clubs on a pedastal though, this is supposed to be non-partisan isn't it?

Simon Johnson on talksport was excellent earlier - talking from a chairman’s perspective (find the clip on social media). Yes he was talking about the clubs greed but also the greed and corruption of UEFA and FIFA.

He was basically saying it’s a political move to force UEFAs hand and it won’t happen. I’m not worried that it will happen.

Also, the fact that UEFA £3.3b per year but only £300m ends up in the clubs hand. Where’s the rest of it? No wonder the top clubs are fuming and are opposed to other smaller clubs joining when the big clubs bring in the money.

I'm clinging on to this.

Those saying they cannot expel us, admit is not lawful. We have to be members of the ECA to play in UEFA comps and all 2 clubs withdrew from the ECA yesterday and today. They absolutely can punt us out.

Also remember they all dealt with shutting down and restarting the game last year, they can easily deal with punting the 12 put of the domestic and European games.

I agree there will no doubt be some legal challenges. However the 12 clubs involved chose to proactively leave the organization. They were not kicked out of UEFA.

It will be amusing if any clubs raised a complaint about being removed from a tournament that they have decided to turn their back on going forward.

What’s that? Can’t find anything about it online.

As long as Super League doesn't open their mouth we just keep on speculating uniformed. Their website is telling something but not enough.

If this is a start of new football without Bayernin winning 10 consecutive titles or Juventus winning Scudetto without a fight I am all for it. Premier League is as competitive as it has ever been which is great but there is still this top 6 and in fairness winning the title  has been between 2-3 clubs.

I am not saying this will change that but maybe it shakes the foundations of the whole business. And yes I chose that word for a reason.

Anyway I have my bowl of popcorns just waiting what happens next.

What ever happens I think fans who attend Chelsea games at SB will do it in the future, grassroots football teams go on playing and enjoying, people will continue to love football because the game itself is the thing that draws people to it.

I thought that too. To me it gave the impression that he’s not surprised how City and Chelsea are acting but Liverpool & Man Utd with their “high standards” is much more surprising.

The reality is they are 2 of the clubs driving this whole thing and every club has played their part in this fiasco.

If this means that Chelsea walk away from the premier league and are solely in a European super league for the next 5 years with 19 other clubs. No other competitions. Will you still support Chelsea?

I won't. That's not Chelsea. That's not football.

Saw this - good points:

• UEFA failed with FFP and have actively tried to create a super league in the past

• FIFA have tried to expand the club World Cup for years and sold a World Cup to Qatar

• BT & Sky tried to charge us £14.99 for Brighton Vs. Burnley

Don’t make them out to be the good guys.

Arsenal haven't played in the CL since 16/17 yet expect to be an automatic qualifier? GTFOH same w/f**king spurs; they haven't won f**kall in over a decade but think they have a right to play in the champions league every year instead of earning that sh*t. Goddammit this sh*t... its been 24 hours and i'm so exhausted with this sh*t already.
