April 29, 20224 yr I suppose we didn’t really NEED to win last night. The draw takes us to 6 points lead. Our remaining games are against teams who will be on the beach. Relax guys. I know United are awful. We only need 6 points from our remaining games and we’ve got top 4 - that’s without Arsenal/Spurs dropping points.

So I don't put much down to Pulisic, but with Lukaku we just lost the capacity to play between their lines. I understand the changes TT did, but it did not work unfortunately.
April 29, 20224 yr I'm feeling so p****d off with this team chucking so many points away this season. We really should have been up there challenging City and the Dippers. There have been 6 games where we have thrown away the lead and ending up drawing, against mostly crap teams as well. Man Utd - home and away Brighton - home and away Everton - home Burnley - home So that is 12 points better off we could and should be which would put us 1 point behind Liverpoo. There was also the ridiculous goal we conceded in the 87th minute against West Ham to lose 3-2, so that should have been an extra point as well. Even against the Dippers at home we could have won after being 1-0 up, playing with 10 men for the whole of the 2nd half. That was a magnificent effort to be fair. So annoying that YET AGAIN we are ending the season worrying about getting top 4. Not good enough. Edited April 29, 20224 yr by SW6Blue

Even though everyone is somewhat relieved that top 4 is within our grasp. Yesterday’s performance revealed the teams deficiencies. The attack lacks a clinical finisher. Midfield lacks that Fabregas type of pass that can split the opposition defense is half. Yes our aim this season is to get top 4. But this team needs at least 3-4 signings this summer to compete for the league and CL.

Looks like the defence, midfield and forwards all need a rethink in the summer... Of the current squad, I'd literally only keep Thiago, Azpi, James, Kova, Havertz, Chilly, Mount, everyone else i would say are dispensable, even Mendy to an extent, yes a great keeper but starting to see cracks that weren't there last season...
April 29, 20224 yr I am still seething over last night actually. It’s not the impact of the result or what we still need to qualify for the CL. In fact, as I have questioned elsewhere, I am not even sure if we get any league prize money under this embargo, so it probably doesn't matter whether we get third or fourth. I don’t think that we played badly, I don’t think you can play badly against this mob. It’s the fact that I cannot recall any other team that are in as high a position as us in our leagues that are so woeful in the final third of the pitch. None of our midfielders want to shoot at the goal. Jorginho could be inside the 6 yard box, clean through, and would still look to pass to someone else. We then make changes and bring on Pulisic and Loftus Cheek who would rather run with the ball than pass. I don’t get it. Man Utd don’t move. If they have 9 blokes behind the ball that don’t move, don’t run at them, pas sit around and through them and then shoot. Lampard would have had an hat-trick last night, all from outside the box. They had McTominay and Matic on the pitch and still had no defensive midfielders anywhere near us. I’m fed up with us not being clinical. As someone else mentioned on here. Charity FC…again. They’re so sh*t that they brought on Phil Jones and their crowd cheered. Phil Jones. Jesus Christ.
April 29, 20224 yr The fat one aside, it needs to be remembered just how many games our players have played, more than any other team in Europe, in fact. No I’m not making excuses, but with the sheer amount of minutes put in - not even counting inter-f**king-nationals - it’s no wonder that the team sometimes looks a little weary. It’s been a long hard slog, and with the obscenity of the Qatar World Cup to come, I can’t see the situation improving anytime soon. Scrapping or boycotting the World Cup along with the myriad other pointless internationals would be a great help, but sad to say, that just ain’t gonna happen.
April 29, 20224 yr In summary: Meh. Need a new spine, New owners need to provide about 5 players and a busy summer
April 29, 20224 yr And to top it off, for a change, Mike Dean did not screw us at all, and we seem to have a lot of calls go our way. It seems to be played like a friendly, very little hard tackling, very few fouls called, and maybe just that one bad challenge by McTominay on Jorgi. But did we take advantage of that situation,? Of course not.

This is like 90% of the reason I want us to move on from Jorginho next season, even though I like and respect him, but every game we create so many opportunities to shoot near the box and instead we just pass it around, opponents don't even bother closing him down because they know that his only option is to pass/cross the ball. I wouldn't replace him with a trigger happy Barkley, but having someone in there who can offer some kind of offensive threat would be nice for a change.

Bobbing along to qualify for a competition that we won't be good enough to win because the players haven't got the stones to be ruthless and win when it really matters

Both Arsenal and Spurs can reach 73. That’s the total we need…5 draws and it can be nicked from us. Everton will be difficult if we aren’t up for it on Sunday, whilst Leeds 3 days before a cup final won’t be easy. Three points were there for the taking last night…if we could shoot!
