Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea

No it's not. Sterling signed a 5 year deal, yes we used to do those before the lifetime deals started, for a fee of 47.5mill from City.

In the summer he will have completed 2 of those 5 years, and his value goes down per FFP 9.5mill per year.

So his remaining book value in the summer will be 28.5mill.

All they need to do is sell him for that or better and we move on our highest earner and clear is remaining book value as well.

Read the argument. We were talking about Fofana.

Ah yes, I assumed it was about Sterling since it is in the Sterling thread.

Wes is indeed at 50mill. Maybe an injury free season  (ha ha) a year later and the then 40mill book value will be more achievable.

He did really well with it didn't he ? It was a cracking pass from Nico, but there was still a lot left for Sterling to do to finish it off ... I just wish he'd do stuff like that more often !

Was much more difficult than the chance he missed before it. Sterling in a nutshell.

I'd hope we are trying to sell him to a Saudi club in the summer.

You can't have your highest paid, and most experienced, forward putting in a performance like that in a final ... he's the one who is supposed to be setting the example for the others !

You can complain about his performance all you want but simple fact is if Sterling was still on the pitch he is scoring at least one of those chances we missed.

I don't know, it's not like he doesn't have a career full of missing sitters himself.

I didn't agree with the sub today though. I don't think Sterling was brilliant, but he was more of threat than Madueke or Mudryk were at any point in the game.

So would you have left Nkunku on the bench ? or taken someone else off to bring him on ?

You're right about Madueke and Mudryk, but it wasn't them that came on for Sterling !

But when Mudryk did come on, it was the position Sterling was playing in that he took.

I don't think the timing of the Nkunku sub was right anyway. I thought Jackson was doing a decent-ish job floating between striker and winger at times.

I don't understand what you are criticising about the Sterling sub ... ? Jackson wasn't anything to do with that either, so why mention him ?

If you are saying you want Sterling left on, then who are you taking off to bring Nkunku on ? Your choices are Sterling, Jackson, Palmer or Gallagher (or maybe Enzo if Conor is moved back into the pivot).

If only I shared your certainty on that.

It's not hard to understand. I said in the post you're replying to that I wouldn't have made the Nkunku sub at that time. Jackson's role changed as soon as the sub was made which made him more ineffective and then he was taken off for Mudryk when it would have been better to have just left Sterling on in the first place.

So what would you have done, and when ? And who would you have taken off ?

I would have liked to have seen Jackson and Sterling left on until it became noticeably clear that neither of them were going make any difference as the game progressed. If Nkunku was to come on at some point, I would not have played him as a striker. He had almost nobody anywhere near him. That's not how he played at Leipzig and it's yet another case of our coaches not playing our players to their strengths.

Sterling should have stayed on poor decision, he's supposed to be our most experienced attacker. He literally scored against City the other day and had the ball in the back of the net (disallowed wrongly from my angle).

He was dreadful.
