Tbh mate I’m off the opinion that Fofana is a “pay what it takes” player. I genuinely think he will be a good player for us and hopefully within 2-3 years will be in that world class bracket.

I think he’s the best young defender in the world. There are some other talented defenders but none of them have proven themselves in the hardest competition in the world at that age 

Everyone losing their minds over rumours the last bid was rejected and now we’ve supposedly paid a record fee.  Let’s wait to hear the facts.

Heard it’s £70m with lots of achievable addons on top. And if they all come in it’s a world record fee for a defender.

But now, because we've only been able to sign three first team players, we've all got to think that Chalobah, Gilmour, CHO and Gallagher are the players to compete against the top 5-6 clubs in the country. I really hope you're right but there is nothing that I have seen from any of these players or those that we currently have in advanced positions to give me any confidence whatsoever that we will achieve anything but a Europe league spot come the end of the season, but I really really hope that I am wrong.

Based on what?

He hasn't even played a game for France who have plenty young and talented defenders.  He had a reasonably good season then a long term injury but to suggest he's the best young defender in the world seems a massive stretch.

Personally I'd rather have Kounde who I think has shown a much higher level albeit in a different league.

But Fofana clearly has a lot of potential so despite overpaying we're getting a good player.

Record fee for a 21 year old. I don't think it is an actually record fee for a defender.

Reasonably good season ha ha ha ha. Mate, he kept a thread bare piece of sh*t back line together singlehanded to help us finish 5th at the age of 19, playing in a foreign country for the first time.
