They were literally shooting down bids within seconds with no dialogue. we prob thought we wont be mugged off here. £70m was a fair price. What are they going to do now with an unhappy player training with the reserves.

Probably sell him to Barca at half the price.

Still seems like we are going in for another round of talks. Rodgers said something last night like "He wants to leave and when the clubs agree a fee he can go". Sounds like they don't think Chelsea have walked away and are expecting another bid.

My gut instinct is telling me we will go in with another bid and hopefully the 4th bid is accepted. I also think we may not see any more movement on it until Thursday/ Friday purely because we are playing eachother at the weekend. As it stands I don't think Fofana will play for them on Saturday whilst he is training with the U23s, and I also think if Leicester do accept a bid that they don't want him to play against them on Saturday, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is concluded one way or another by early next week.

It is still only The Sun reporting that we have walked away. Other credible journalists seem to be saying we will be trying again.

@foxedup - Side note, I saw lots of noise on twitter last night that your fans want Rodgers to leave? Is that the general feeling or just the minority on twitter? Overall I think he has done a really decent job for you guys so was kind of surprised people wanted him out.

Rodgers is a f***** idiot and about 95% of fans want him gone, and that’s not reactionary.

He got presented a very decent squad and was given a good sum of money. He’s managed to just get everyone injured, bought mostly rubbish and managed to utterly demoralise everyone.

All he ever does and says is what’s good for Rodgers. Nothing is ever his fault, despite the fact he can’t seem to solve basic issues, makes woeful subs and tactical decisions. His negatively from about 8 months in the job onwards has rubbed off on everyone and I think the players and fans alike have had enough of him.

This squad is proven good enough to finish 5th, 5th and 8th, oh and win an FA Cup. We should have done more than that as well, it’s in him we blew up twice despite being massively clear of everyone else.

As a manager he has a time limit at a club and he’s passed it again here.

Who doesn't play for his country to. 70m is more than adequate

Not for Leicester, so move on and stop trying to destabilise players that clubs don’t want to sell.

Leicester is currently in the relegation zone and could get relegated. Holding on to unhappy players who don't want to play for your club doesn't help you. Is it worth holding out for £10m more and getting relegated or selling at a good price to get players who want to play for your club? It's a calculated risk. Fofana knows if hes still at LFC and plays his best football he still wouldn't get to play at WC. Playing for Chelsea helps him a lot so why would he care about staying on and playing poorly.  A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

Don’t talk wet.

Fair enough, thanks for the insight

I don’t want to say it, I’ve stayed patient for so long.  But the negativity around the club this summer is all on him and it’s the straw that broke the camels back.

No it is your concern, because we aren’t going to accept your bid.

But by that theory you won't accept anyone's bid and nobody is ever going to pay as much as we have put on the table already.

And here is the problem, we think otherwise because we’ve seen how good he is. So you can think nobody will all you want, and when he’s valued at £100m+ you can kick yourselves you didn’t go the extra mile.

And still nobody will touch him at 100m.  And that's provided he becomes the best defender in the world, of which there is no guarantee.  On the flip side he could stagnate or drop right off and in a few years you'll be kicking yourselves for not cashing in on 70m when he might only be worth 30 or 40.  He's not worth 80+ right at this moment, he's probably worth 60 to 65 so our offer of 70 is more than fair.  We'll see how it plays out though. 🙂

I can understand Leicester's standpoint. He just signed a long term deal with the club so they are in a strong position. It could backfire if the players loses form over the transfer speculation but I imagine Leicester will hope he settles down again once the window closes. If he is still unsettled then perhaps they will listen to offers like our one in the next window or 2. It is a gamble of sorts but if the player is that good they will be confident that they can still cash in on him when the time is right.

Would you take 60m + Pulisic?

“The player (Fofana) clearly wants to go and it’s really about the clubs finding an agreement. So once that happens, it will be resolved then.”

BR, on talk sport.

A player is only worth what another team will pay for them. So if Leicester price him at £100m and other teams only want to pay £50m than that's his real value.

Give he's now publicly stated he wants to go (after saying he's not for sale lol) and now being forced to train with the reserves it gives me the impression Rodgers is telling the board internally to get this done ASAP.

I suspect he will be kept out of the first team until either he leaves Leicester, or the transfer window closes. Especially being that their one remaining game in this window is against us.

This is unsurprising. Rodgers choking again

I'd be delighted to see us walk away. As we all should.

We made a great offer, at a fair valuation. If Leicester don't want to accept then that's not on us, it's them.

Yes maybe he goes somewhere else for cheaper in a year. Again, not on us. But it means we are less likely to get our pants pulled down on future deals.

Chelsea ‘touch and go’ over Fofana

Sky Sports News senior reporter Kaveh Solhekol on the Transfer Show:

“Are Chelsea going to get Wesley Fofana? Well, that’s a very good question. At the moment I think Chelsea are considering whether to go back in for the player or whether to drop their interest and move on to other targets.

"Chelsea have had three bids rejected, the last of which was worth £70m, Leicester want £80m. Chelsea are discussing whether they should spend that kind of money on a player who sustained a serious injury last season and has yet to make an international appearance for France. It’s touch and go whether they move on to return.”

Someone please explain to me the difference in spending £70m and £80m?

Why is only a £10m difference raising concerns for the club regarding the players' injury last season and his failure to make an international appearance? This isn't an issue at £70m, but it is all of a sudden an issue at £80m?

The club apparently don't want to add the pressure of Worlds most expensive defender to Fofana.

Plus 10mill is a lot of money to Clearlakes investors.

So then we either find a stop gap solution and if that solution goes bust we will then be back in the same situation next summer. Probably even worse given that we will have to replace Silva too.

More often than not the big clubs do not like to go through weeks of negotiations only to pay every penny the selling club has asked for.

Even in Cucrellas case they wanted Colwill sold to them and we made it a loan. Leicester have stayed firm to the price and not made any concessions, and they are fully entitled to do so, however may just be that our owners are not willing to pay the full price asked for, like with Auba.
