August 21, 20223 yr Just pay them and get this over with, maybe Tuchel was trying to make a point by playing James at CB again. If that desn't work, we will get rid of Tuchel and begins the system reboot. Actually, pay them 110M, so we get Tilerman as part of the package
August 22, 20223 yr The defeat Saturday certainly hurt Todd's bid...now he has to find that xtra £5-10 mill
August 22, 20223 yr Being reported that Leicester are now open to selling. Seems fee will be just shy of £80m but addons etc will take it towards £85-90m. Apparently the clubs have been in discussions over a fee since the first two rejected bids and that is why we have not made an official third bid yet. Seems the third bid is the one that everyone wants to be accepted. Doesn't mean much but I have a gut feeling we will see some serious movement on this before we play them on Saturday.

Seems like Fofana has made his mind. If they sell him to Chelsea for 80m they have little to no time to buy a replacement for which they (reportedly) have only 50% of that money to use. They are financially in a mess. For them it would be easier to just get it done and move on.

I'm sure Todd, if he hasn't already, may have suggested adding a player to the package, on loan or otherwise; the problem is which one given the wages we pay against what Leicester can afford

August 23, 20223 yr Seems the media reports are more convinced Gordon, Rafael Leao, Auba and Adam Webster are all more likely to end up joining us than Fofana. Clubs said to still be 20mill plus apart in our valuations with neither side looking like budging.

None of the signings this summer bar Sterling seems well thought out
August 23, 20223 yr No idea what's happening in the background, but if Fofana\Gordon\Auba are Tuchel's targets, why wait until August to make the move? The transfer ban ended a long time before that, now we are relying on a mad deadline day to make up the team. In the meantime, those at the club knew replacements are coming, and already lose motivations.

It could be Leicester is lining up a target and they want it over the line beforehand. This has happened in almost every window and deal which requires the selling team to replace a player. I think Alonso is the same. The moment Alonso is in Barcelona our dealings with Barcelona are done.

The moment Alonso is in Barcelona our dealings with Barcelona are done. Think it’s more of a case they are not all “Option A”. In Fofana’s case we put in offers for De Ligt & Kounde earlier in the window, Gordon is so far down the list & we tried for Dumfries & Maehle earlier. Having flashbacks of the Conte window. Ideally in a perfect world you would think he would go with what he has if he can’t get his plan A, but he just can’t seem to improve the players he has. I have a sneaky feeling he might be trying to get as many bodies as he can in this window since he has direct access to the owner. You would think we would have a Sports Director in by next summer who would question & veto some of his player requests.
August 23, 20223 yr https://www.skysports.com/share/12679631 Sky Sports now reporting we are prepared to pay up to £60m for him. The 1st £40m offer was bad enough, and then you see he has 2yrs left on his contract. Sorry but some fans felt Marina made bad deals.
August 23, 20223 yr Good 60m pay the foxes and put him in the starting lineup against his former team just get it done already!

I have no idea about the fella - do you rate him? From what I‘ve read so far I picture a version of Werner (fast workhorse) with more creativity/technique and less ‚action‘ inside the box. edit: oops, thought I hit the Gordon thread..carry on. August 23, 20223 yr Maybe I’ve played football manager for too long but I’ve never understood why agreeing deals take so long. Also my guess is that Leicester will drag it on until after we’ve played them.
August 23, 20223 yr Don’t really understand why we’ve wasted two weeks on this third bid which is still £15m short of what Leicester want…

They have seen us give Brighton exactly what they want for Cucurella and now apparently 60mill for Gordon. Their price is probably 100mill now.
