August 16, 20223 yr 2 weeks left in the window and nothing has changed. Will either side blink? So far looks unlikely.

August 16, 20223 yr Just throw in CHO into the mix. They need another winger. Given their desperation who knows, maybe they'll agree personal terms with the player and agent.
August 16, 20223 yr Wesley Fofana is really pushing to join Chelsea, there’s a chance Chalobah could go on loan. (@FabrizioRomano) #CFC Really Hope we don’t loan Trev. He’s more than good enough to be a squad player.

That would leave us with Koulibaly, Silva, Dave, James, Cucurella and Ampadu. A 38 year old Silva and an injury prone Koulibaly at that. I imagine anyone in the league would be licking their lips at facing a back 3 of Cucurella, Ampadu and Dave...
August 16, 20223 yr On the "really pushing" part @JM7 it amazes me how often that happens without a player putting in a transfer request. I hear that is because an official transfer request costs the player a loyalty payment for him and his agent. You would think they would be willing to give that up to make a move happen.

Then, if we don't get Fofana, Chalobah should stay. I think Chalobah can do part of what Fofana would have done. We shouldn't loan Chalobah out except we get Fofana. Certain clubs are trying to outsmart us in the transfer window. The competition starts in the transfer window. They don't sell players to you. Every club wants to compete these days. So, they want to keep their players. We also have to keep our own players. I hope Boehly and Co. understand this. Every club is trying to play a smart game during the transfer window. They don't sell their players to you. You find it so difficult to get players, and yet they want it to be easy for them to buy your own players. Effectively, they want to weaken your own team and strengthen their own team. The competition is so intense. Can you imagine a team wants to get Chalobah on loan when we haven't got Fofana. Leicester want to do their best not to sell Fofana to us because they want to remain competitive. Therefore, we must keep Chalobah so that we can remain competitive despite not getting Fofana. It seems some people at Chelsea may already be thinking of loaning Chalobah out. They shouldn't be deceived. We may not get Fofana at the end. And if we have loaned Chalobah, we will be left with nothing. This is what some premier league teams want for us, we mustn't allow it. The board must know this, and they must not be deceived.

Dont think the agent loses out. Player gives up his loyalty bonus yes, but can then make it back via his new club paying him the difference in a signing on fee. This deal needs to happen soon-ish though, otherwise if we leave it too late for Leicester to replace, they'll just reject full stop. Still think it might need Fofana to hand in an official TR though.

August 17, 20223 yr To be fair if he puts in a transfer request and the move still doesn’t happen then he will lose his loyalty bonus and be left in an awkward position with Leicester. I personally think putting in a transfer request doesn’t guarantee anything, they generally go and see the manager face to face and let them know they would like to leave. Everyone knows he wants the move, what’s stopping it is Chelsea agreeing a fee with Leicester. We need to do this deal if we really want him. Getting 90% of the way and then struggling to do the last 10% is not a done deal IMO. We can pull out at any moment like we did with Kounde. We are also playing Leicester next week so it’s not in their interest to get this deal done quickly unless we offer them money the Leicester board can’t refuse. The longer this goes on I feel they will be more reluctant to sell as they won’t have a lot of time to find a replacement. I’m not getting excited about anything unless we agree a fee with a club AND agree a salary with a player.
