Wesley Fofana at Chelsea *Official*

Featured Replies

Sky Sports reporting Leicester sources diplomatically describe the 10mill incentive payments diplomatically as "ambitious" which basically made it a 60mill bid:

"

Chelsea have made a third bid worth £70m for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana, which has been immediately rejected by the Foxes.

The offer was believed to be £60m with a possible £10m in add ons - but the fee was unlikely to hit the full £70m, because the additional fees have been described to Sky Sports News as “ambitious” targets.

Fofana wants the move to Stamford Bridge, and was left out of Leicester’s defeat to Southampton at the weekend, because manager Brendan Rodgers said his mind wasn’t in the right place."

It seems we have been led to believe by Leicester a total deal of 70 to 75mill would get it done and can include realistic incentives.

I assume that means fofana plays 50 games an extra amount, fofana debuts for France a  extra amount, we make top 4 another amount etc

Rather than us winning the PL or CL.

I would love to know the incentives which we offered Leicester in our bid. 😂

Of course they rejected that. They have seen us give Brighton exactly what they want for Cucurella and now apparently 60mill for Gordon. Their price is probably 100mill now.

So true. If we're prepared to pay £60m for Gordon not surprised our bid was rejected.

Maybe I’ve played football manager for too long but I’ve never understood why agreeing deals take so long.

Also my guess is that Leicester will drag it on until after we’ve played them.

Fifa is even quicker than Football Manager.  I'd have all this done and sold Bakayoko by now.

Strange. Has Boehly now found his mind again?

15 mio € for Aubameyang and £60m for Fofana are bids which are much nearer to the real market value of these players.

True, so why even bother. Who else have they got lined up as there has been much reported about the areas that we are focussing on but the only two concrete areas are where we have bid way lower than the clubs will accept so clearlry these won't happen. This club has wasted the better part of three quarters of this window bu88ering around over Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong and Wesley Fofana without a cat in hell's chance of getting any of them.

Too late now as well, as we have all been predicting because any selling club needs to source replacements.

Same journo now reporting we are going back in with another bid. The third bid should’ve been the one though given how much time we spent preparing it.

Apparently the amount, or close to it, was, the add ons and how they were triggered were the issue.

Exactly. I mean who seriously does the thinking for them, fck me. How deluded this bunch are.

The only silver lining is that i am starting to have some serious concerns regarding TT's choices of players anyway so if we miss out on half the targets its' no biggy, although Gordon wil be the one bloody deal we do complete i'll bet.

Fair enough. Just annoying that we’ve wasted 2 weeks on this bid! I was convinced because we were spending time on it that it would be accepted when it went in.

Agreed, maybe we thought so too and there was a misunderstanding about how the amounts should be triggered.

Your sauce says we are going in again with another bid quickly. That suggests as much, that we are fixing the add ons to work for them.

I am really a big fan of Tuchel.

But if he is really completing a deal of Gordon for 60m gbp I start to seriously doubt his judgement of a player.

I can name you 3-4 players in Bundesliga who are more talented than Gordon, will cost less and will have a bigger impact for Chelsea in PL for sure.

For instance Silas from Stuttgart.

This is another saga that has dragged on ridiculously, unlike the transfers for true elite clubs that we're competing with.

I am approaching the stage where i don't give a flying Fofana anymore

Fofana scores 20 goals in a season

Fofana makes 38 appearance in the 23/24 season

Chelsea win the treble in his first or second season

Fofana wins ballon dor

Those are all guaranteed to happen so I'd take it Leceister

I can name a couple in our own squad who are better than Gordon, are already free and can't even get a game. I seriously think that Barkley is a better player than this bloke and TT has clearly discounted him. I am not saying that Barkley is good enough but he is better then this fella.

We've just sold Emerson for 15m, Moving on from Fofana would be a huge mistake. He's available, quality and wants to come.

Gordon would be a stupid signing and the kind of move that'd get the manager sacked.

This is a fair point. In fact i would expect that Fofana could do Gordon's job as well. Pay the 85m and don't sign Gordon. Its a saving of 50m
