If the worst of the worst comes for City and they do get demoted multiple divisions, you can guarantee they will get on board with this Super League all over again.

It's potentially a lose lose for the Premier League. Go hard on City and it potentially reignites the push for the Super League, go soft and everybody will be questioning the integrity of English football.

That is certainly a consideration.

I think they have to give out a tough punishment if they want to make other clubs think twice about doing this in future. Also if they don't stand tough over this clubs will expect them to roll over when there are further attempts to join a Super League. If City do decide to join a Super League as a result of this, then it should be the end of them domestically. Their true fans would probably start a new club like a AFC Wimbledon, FC of United anyway.

All I can say is, about time.

We knew about their false revenue activity since UEFA probed them back in 2019, and it was evident there was fraud taking place with the substantial amount of evidence available. Only thing that prevented sanctions were the bull sh*t statute of limitations. Hence why anything City win is meaningless and has a big asterisk on top of it.

@Term_X Funny how this is happening now right after we discussed City were at the point they thought they were untouchable. Reporting they had the highest revenue above United or Real Madrid. 😄

😅  You love to see it.

Even more sweet after we (under Roman) worked so hard to stay within FFP when it was first introduced, seasons gone by where we’d hold off on splashing the cash, selling players as a business model and just generally making sure we were toeing the line, whilst watching City do whatever they liked.

Also, the Premier League rules City will not be able to appeal any sanction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (which overturned the UEFA ban), which is the key factor here. Just imagine if they get a severe punishment, even relegation.. wonder how many players would stay loyal like Buffon & Del Piero when Juve were in the mud from matching fixing.

As long as United, ourselves, Liverpool and co stay strong, the Premier League already has enough big names, if anything.. now Newcastle are in the picture, the league could do with a drop out. PSG are now in bed with UEFA, the PSG president is on the UEFA committee and I’d think the domestic fan base of clubs in Italy and Spain would still be hesitant, it didn’t get much media coverage but the Real Madrid ultras protested the idea. Juve as a brand have been damaged to the point where the Super League is the last of their problems with criminal investigations and the board resigning.

The systematic cheating from City is the biggest scandal in the history of the game, right up their with Calciopoli, this is Netflix/thriller style documentary material, especially when you deep dive.

. 6 seasons not including full details of player remuneration in player contracts.

. 4 seasons not including full details of manager remuneration.

. 9 seasons of not providing accurate financial information.

And thats just up to 2018, from 2018 they’ve refused to cooperate!!!! 🤦‍♂️🙃

Refusing to cooperate from 2018 onwards could be damning. What else are they hiding?

Swindon were demoted 2 divisions in 1990 for 36 financial irregularities, around a third of what City have been charged with. City will certainly appeal, but if even a third of those charges stand, then they must be demoted. If ALL of those charges stand..........goodbye Manchester City.

I am not sure how this is legal bit, unlike the Uefa sanctions,  these ones cannot be appeal to at CAS.

Apparently most of the evidence the FA received from a hacker. So that won't stand up in a court of law.

I reckon some suspended points dedication and fine of 30mill quid will be the end result.

No sure about that, if the Premier League knew it could be that easily rebuffed, they wouldn’t have bothered or waited longer to build up the case. This has been years in the making, it covers so much ground, even issues with underage players (same allegations which caused our ban) and that’s just tip of the iceberg stuff. More viable rumours than mere hackers have been of their former staff being informants, in particular, Tom Glick.

They'll be a technicality issue somewhere in the evidence no doubt. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a f**k up in the way they've gone about it

We , Utd and others were onboard with the Super League.

Only fan protests stopped it.

Changing the subject have read that Liverpool after 3 months have not had any offers to buy the club.

Some city fans are saying all the sh*t that's happening to them is our fault... Liverpool are saying noone wants to buy them because we are for sale... What's next? Fritzl locked up his kids because of us as well?

Nothing but gut instinct, but sense a points deduction and large fine (they have to make money off the wrong doing also!).  Can't see a demotion.  No winners here, they have to show a firm hand, but establishing a precedent.

The other side is I do not want to throw any stones - you know they'll be coming for us!

But as you said, the fan protests changed the whole game, now the rules have been re-written to prevent future breakups. Liverpool owners are selling, same for United, Juve board have gone, PSG owner now on the board with UEFA. It will be a monumental task for City to organise that now, unless it’s just City/Barca & Madrid in their own little league, Boehly’s ideas of all-star games and UEFA’s up and coming plans with more fixtures will rectify things enough.

I still can't get this out of my mind.

This under Roman !

Can't believe Todd isn't interested, but the new rules make it difficult for sure

Thank God we got our financial doping in before it was regulated ! 😙😙😙

So do you think media will be holding back on their praise of City given this? Surely now the last 9 seasons of league titles and success have to questioned and marked with an asterisk.

Considering the likelihood of this dragging on for a year or so, it being a talking point for so long and the verdict hanging over their head will certainly damage their reputation. Pep will start to get really unlikeable in the pressers depending on how often he gets rattled, or worse, arrogantly brushing it under the carpet.

Not completely accurate, there's a lot of grey area in these areas of the law. If a hacker leaks a video of a murder for example that doesn't make the murder charge void. So long as the evidence is accurate, the source doesn't really matter.

I don't see City being relegated or losing their records.

The premier league earns lots of revenue and pays taxes, part of this is down to rich individuals or groups buying into football clubs.

If they are too hard others might not want to invest, look at Liverpool and Utd.

This is why I think they will look to punish by restricting transfer dealings and possibly deducting points.
