August 1, 20223 yr Tbh I actually like the fact they're freestyling, When a good player comes up and we don't get involved regardless of 'the plan' its often a bad sign to me, Willing to go off piste etc may well be the ticket.. I got pretty sick of these transfer 10yr plans tbh, Stuff that, So many good players we brought in using some kind of calculated theory never worked out We really need a forward, A poacher would be ideal, Sterling and co drawing the defence out giving space for tap ins etc Edited August 1, 20223 yr by Kantesmini
August 1, 20223 yr Would make sense, and who cares if it's last minute, if we need a player and they're available then let's make it happen. Maybe we assumed he was going to City previously, and avoided any conflict of interest as we were dealing with them regarding 2 of their own players.

If we had a 20 goal a season forward we would be more likely to compete.

Could be true, particularly if the reports he'd join us are true. Maybe we approached him and his agent first and he said he'd equally be as happy to join us or City, and we stepped in. Time will tell.
August 1, 20223 yr I can’t see why we really need a left wing back unless there are concerns over Chilwell but cucurella has looked good when I’ve briefly seen him . Doesn’t score any goals mind you, maybe one a season. ‘why not spend the extra money and get a right footed younger central defender like fofana.

Obviously we need attackers as well. We tried to sign Raphinha afterall so it's clearly on the agenda for Boehly and Tuchel. But it could be that we need to show a bit of patience there. Doesn't seem like there is a whole lot of quality attackers on the market right now. Should also mean that we can finally get rid of Alonso this. Emerson may be a bit trickier but would be a good start. Edited August 1, 20223 yr by Sindre

August 1, 20223 yr I think what a lot of people are forgetting is he was a main target of ours before Brighton took the plunge. He would be a fantastic signing no doubt There are two issues though, one he wants another club like most of our targets this summer. This could end up with custard on our faces. Unless we have spoken to him and hes happy to come to us, then worth a try. Secondly no way should colwill be part of any deal, unless its a loan and loan only. Then it actually works out really well, as thats a solid mid table prem team who play good football.
August 1, 20223 yr Funny how City apparently do everything right in the transfer window, no negotiating over every last penny ‘just pay up’, no last minute transfers for players they’ve been linked with all window, no selling players without a ready made replacement. Here we are bidding for the same player 4 days before the start of the season, City with no left backs us with 12!
August 1, 20223 yr Our season genuinely collapsed when Chilwell and James were out injured. Are we really complaining that we are strengthening in depth? Even together, Cucurella at LCB will genuinely be operated as a LB in the way we play. Imagine both Chilwell and Cucurella on the left side.

Spurs paid £12m for a RB, Liverpool paid £6m for one also this summer. There are also loads of FBs that have moved in the summer for reasonable prices. Why didn’t we make an offer for one if we needed one. Continues our scattergun approach in the window. You would hope we have spoken to Cucurella & his agent, and he is will to come here though.

Cucuella would be an amazing signing.

This will be more transparent BS from his agent to get Man City to pony up. Edited August 1, 20223 yr by WhiteWall

We may have approached Cucurella and he agreed to join, hence the immediate interest from us. We will know more in the coming days but if what I said is true we need to get this done now before City smarten up.
August 1, 20223 yr I think Cucurella's a smart signing, competition for Chilwell as well as LCB cover is decent niche. If he doesn't work out, we can always go for Fofana in January
August 1, 20223 yr I really thought he would go to play for Pep, a real player for me. A very good signing assuming it goes through and suggests Ben's injury situation is taking longer to heal.
August 1, 20223 yr Too many times we relied heavily on our right side. Adding Sterling at LF, Chilwell at LWB and Cucurella at LCB is going to take some of the burden off of the right.
August 1, 20223 yr Marc Cucurella and Fofana are the best targets i can imagine for us there are no better PL proven players out there in those positions (who aren't playing for Man City or Liverpool already) Edited August 1, 20223 yr by azpi28
August 1, 20223 yr Chelsea are confident on reaching an agreement with Marc Cucurella, not expected to be an issue. Contract proposal’s being prepared. 🚨🔵 #CFC Negotiations ongoing with Brighton. Price tag: £50m. Chelsea want to be fast - including Levi Colwill as part of the conversations. @FabrizoRomano Edited August 1, 20223 yr by JM7
August 1, 20223 yr Does seem slightly odd that we’re signing a left CB or left wing back given we’ve signed Koulibaly. Would Koulibaly move over to the right? Would it leave us short on the right if we don’t sign another defender like Fofana?
