Marc Cucurella

OK Emerson, Kenedy...

Not good enough...

Not sure if it is worth going for him given what he would cost and given our need to strengthen in other positions (CB!), but apart from that it makes a lot of sense. Alonso wants to leave, Chilwell is a question mark, Emerson and Kenedy are not good enough. And we saw how important good cover at WB is in our system, when Chilwell and James were out and we were struggling big time.

Why are people acting Like Cucurella isn’t a better player than Chilwell?

Chilwell is by far the most overated player i can remember playing for us.  He's solid and we missed him massively due to not having a quality replacement but he isn't some top player who will lockdown the position for years like Reece James is on the right and that was before such a bad injury.

Personally I think if Cucurella and Chilwell are competing for the LWB position Cucurella will win out.

Not necessarily the position we need to focus on improving but he's top quality and can obviously play centre back too though his height may concern some and I'd prefer a Fofana or Gvavidol type signing at CB

Reports are he would still like to go to City and is waiting to see if they up their offer.

Barca also activated a third lever today and are rumoured to be interested in their former player.

That’s the Bernardo Silva lever

if cucurella chooses Barcelona over us that would be upsetting unlike all the others

if he chooses city not so much as I was already resigned he was going there anyway

Have you moved on from Pulisic now?

I like Chilwell, he's a good solid left back and definitely worth a spot in the squad but he's definitely overated by us, he's nowhere near Liverpool or Citys fullback options and he's nowhere near as good as Reece James.

Good player but LWB is certainly a position we can improve on even if it isn't a priority.

Replacing Pulisic is obviously a priority, I don't think Palace would go for it but Pulisic for Zaha in his final year makes a lot of sense.

Mate he was and is one of the best players in the league, The injury is the only question mark, He was world class for the entire season when Leicester won the league

“Marc Cucurella understood to be keen on a #ChelseaFC move amid #CFC pushing for a deal with Brighton. Cucurella was set on a Man City switch but would still be very open to Chelsea“

Sevilla themselves said we killed the deal, or rather TT did cause he was not sure about him. Yet that Gerard bloke reported it long before while Fab and the rest said nope, done deal.

To be fair the deal was done by all accounts but Tuchel had his doubts and we didn’t send over the final documents.

Apparently Tuchel had doubts about his height being exposed in the EPL.

Chilwell was ripping it up before his injury came, how can you say he's over rated?! Soon as him and James got injured, our season tailed off.

If I was Cucurella, I'd fancy myself to get more playing time vs Chilwell than vs Cancelo ... Chelsea all the way !

Would we not ideally play him as a LCB in our team, I mean I don't see why else we would go for him unless we're selling Emerson and Alonso imminently?

Let me just recap this... Man City wants this player and so does Barcelona. And I'm supposed to believe that after everything that has happened during this same transfer window that we have any chance of signing him?

I think Koulibaly will play LCB.

I know Cucurella can play there, but if TT thinks Kounde is a bit short for a centre back, then Cucurella, who is at least 6cm shorter than Kounde, is definitely too short !!!

I've always been a fan of one natural fullback in the back 3 in such a system and i feel it's crucial if Tuchel is going to wed to this system. The Azpi/Moses RCB/RWB combo was a huge attacking outlet for us and although it's a different level James at RCB and Lamptey RWB caused absolute carnage in the youth setup.

When utilized right you practically have 2 attacking fullbacks on one side.

Our season tailed off because we don't have adequate replacements at Wingback.

2 slow players players in their 30s or RLC were absolute disastrous replacements so of course we missed Chilwell.

But Ben himself is nothing special, he's very much on the same tier as Tierney, Shaw, Reguillion, Digne etc.  Decent but certainly nowhere near the likes of Cancelo or Robertson which Is the standard of our competition.

He's far more Wayne Bridge than Ashley Cole.  Good but not necessarily untouchable.

Didn't realise he was so short, what is it with us and small players...

I agree he's not Cole level, not sure we will ever have a LB/LWB like him, but Chilwell was in top form before his injury. We can only hope he get's back into that form, he's not a player we should be looking to replace when we're so weak up front and could do with another CB.
