We won cause we were better, in fact we won 3 times in a row against Man City at that time period so it has nothing to do with Pep, we were better than them.

We were definitely excellent in that final. But just pointing out that it should never have been viewed as a total surprise. Like you say we had beaten City in 2 less important games before that final. But equally City had blown great opportunities in Champs League before when they were heavily favoured.

Was like watching the team under TT at the end. Loads of possession, not chances. Even after Brentford clearly got tired.

Broja looked good but decision making let him down I felt. Think he was trying too hard to score on his own. Maybe Auba would have took one of those chances or put it on a plate for someone else, but was impressed with Broja nonetheless.

Thought we looked much better after all the subs. Pulisic and Chuks I thought done well when they came on, Sterling is arguably one of the best wingers in the league. Must be annoying he keeps getting shunted to play wing back. He needs to be as high up the pitch as possible. 
 

We really went for it in the last 25-30 mins and Brentford defended really well. I thought a draw was probably the fair result overall but certainly don’t see it as negatively as some on here. 

 

Pretty much agree with all of this although I do think our care of the ball is appalling at times. We play a close passing tippy toe tap game with players that are just not that good at it. But generally i do agree with your comments, although you did say arguably about Sterling and i would argue ordinarily as i have never particulalry rated him and he still flatters to deceive imo, but i genuinely think our team and Brentford's are closely matched currently and therefore it has to be a fair result.

Having said that, I wouldn’t waste your time sharpening your pencil. Putin is evacuating Kherson in preparation for a nuclear strike in Ukraine. Thermonuclear  devastation of the planet is the new inevitability.

There must be a minefield in the opponents box because we never get in there, or even try at times.  All happy to play around the 18-20 yard line while the opponents set up defensively.  It was only when CP came on did we attempt to enter into the minefield.  We have seen this so, so many times over the last few seasons WTF is wrong with this team.  Dave has his right foot screwed on the wrong way because every time he touched the ball it went backwards, same with Jorgi.  KK was trying to hit long balls but he's just as well give the ball back to the opposition anyway.   Injuries aside, our midfield is shocking and has been for a while. Kovacic can't shoot worth sh*t and neither can Jorgi so the ball goes sideways or back.  The forwards seem static for the most part and Sterling must be wondering why no-one is actually moving into space when he does have the ball, so once again it gets played safe, sideways or back.   

I'm not sure what GP can do to encourage the players to start attacking teams instead of playing possession based football and bore the entire fan base to sleep.  GP is not the first and nor will he be the last to be scratching his head on all this talent in front of him, yet they can't move the ball forwards with any pace or intensity. 

Don't really fancy much against a revitalized Utd team, but I guess we can only hope that Kepa's luck continues.

If we don't have two players who can play well as a wingbacks then don't use a system that depends on wingbacks surley?

Yeah mentioned that in an earlier post. Lost a really good shooting opportunity and another change to cross in a dangerous ball within a few minutes of each other. Needs to trust his left when these chances come up. Probably got away with it youth football. 

In his general play I haven’t really noticed him totally relying solely on his right like say Cucurella does with his left so I’m hoping that it’s just a confidence thing and getting up to speed with the step up.

I mean it is crazy isn't it. How can we be giving it large. We know what we are, we know what we are, when we have one player get injured and we are completely fooked because we don't have another one in that posiiton in the whole of the club.

Well then, and he comes the revolutionarytactical bit, but without the graphics board and Rio saying listen every two minutes, if we only have 1 RWB and a shed full of CBs then play a flat back four with Dave as an orthodox RB (like, his actual position)

Big call that Tim. Granted he looked busier than the others but Christ Kepa was MOTM, tells us what the outfield was like. But over a 90 minuted game i can't see why he would have been any difernt. Did he actually have a shot on target in his time on teh pitch.

He definitely put in a good performance. Although I think most on here felt that all the late subs made a decent impact in the closing stages. Chukwuemeka, Sterling, and Auba also added some much needed energy.

Agreed. I thought Chucky looked salty. Want to see more of him. Still would love to see an attack with RS on one side, CP on the other. Maybe Broha or Auba up front. Salty attack.
