No credit where credit is due, huh? Can't even throw the boy a bone tonight? Wow...smh

And what exactly would I be giving him credit for?

The 2 times he lost the ball in the last minute in about 15 seconds?

Are we praising everyone who doesn't trip over their own feet? I don't think Puli played particularly well, he was  brighter than Havertz but if that's the kind of performance you think warrants praise then Yikes it really wasn't anything special.

I’d have to agree with that… if we had started Sterling and Auba!

I suspect both Sterling and Auba will start on Saturday. Possibly Pulisic too, although Mount might get the nod as the 3rd attacker.

Two dropped points and overall a poor enough performance. Thought it could of been nicked at the end and probably would of been had havertz gone off earlier.

Dude could score twenty and you would say he sucks. Kind of shoots any credibility you have when you can't acknowledge when someone plays well. Called hating. You are the best I have ever seen at it. And it's one of your own, which makes you a very sad individual.

Thanks for the update. Like this guy. Tough player. Had no idea what he had, as he took a knock from the ball, nothing more.

We wish.  It takes him 4 seasons to score that many!

I haven't criticised Pulisic today, he wasn't bad but it simply wasn't a good performance by any metric.  Standards are rock bottom amongst anyone who would argue otherwise.

I'd say you'd praise Pulisic every game he managed to keep his balance but given you praised him after the Southampton game even that's not a requirement apparently!

Did he start feeling sick during the 15 minutes he was on or did he not feel well before?

If it was before then either Conor should have spoke up or Potter should have changed his sid eif he did, rather than wasting a sub.

Not surprised at the result, we were given a helping hand against Villa and required a MOTM performance from Kepa to keep them out. Brentford defended well, and we had very little ideas to break them open. Rotation is good when you are winning, looked a bit silly when you aren't. Without James, our biggest attacking threat is gone, 2 wing backs are on the left and neither playing well ( especially offensively), think we will have the same struggle as last season when we lost our wingbacks

I enjoy reading @Scott Harrisplayer scores after after match. For what it is worth here is my take:

Kepa - 8. No way near as hard worked as at Villa. Still made a few standard and one very good save. His ball control and distribution was very good, and he is a vocal leader.

Dave - 6. He was solid, had a decent strike on goal. Steady eddy performance.

Chalobah - 8. If only we had a RWB version of him. Has stepped up superbly since Wes got injured. He is a leader and 100% committed. Dealt well with a very good Brentford attack.

Koulibaly - 7.5. I liked his performance. This is not an easy place to go or easy side to face. He played well showing his personality, as he did at Villa. Good to see.

RLC - 4. Has had a really good season so far, but this was not a good display. Was beaten a few times in defence and was slow, ponderous and showed no attacking quality. It should be said he is not a wingback and shoehorning players in to positions to maintain a system does not seem smart to me.

Jorginho - 4. Brentford bypassed him easily, and he had ample time to help the attack build only to misplace his pass time and again.

Gallagher - NA

Cucurella - 5. A point better than RLC as he defended well this time. No better than a 5 as he was equally useless as Ruben going forward.

Mount - 4. The endeavor is always there and can be counted upon. However in a more advanced role we needed him to unlock the way forward for Broja and/or work well enough with him to make something happen. He had no quality in his performance this time.

Havertz - 2. Once again the endeavor was not there and cannot be counted upon. The rest see Mount.

Broja - 6. Fed on scraps, worked his socks off but lacked quality to finish what little he could create for himself.

Kovacic - 6. Standard Kovacic display. Neat and tidy on the ball, excellent work ethic. Poor quality in the final third.

Carney C - 6. Looked a live wire, his and CPs introduction made the game more enjoyable. Down a point for not taking our best chance at the death.

Pulisic - 7. He worried Brentford and showed intent to go at them. Like Carney he made the last 30 minutes at least interesting.

Sterling - 3. He is not a wingback, but he is not much of a forward either. Ponderous on the ball, even more so for his chance that he allowed far to much time to be blocked. It should be repeated he is not a wingback and shoehorning players in to positions to maintain a system does not seem smart to me....

Auba - 5. Not much time to do anything, think he is the one who made that lovely pass to Sterling to blow his chance.

Thought it was more a point gained though. They are much more cohesive and fluid than us. Our obstinance defensively and an improved level of performace recently from Kepa is keeping us moving forward

Agree with most of these points. As a combined unit i found there were again too many instances of poor touch, control, bad and lazy passing. Too many passes behind players runs, too many players not taking active first touches resulting in a loss of tempo and movement.

Thought Auba looked like he had some intent actually. I think if he played a full 45 minute second half he would have got at least one good chance and i think he may well have taken it.

I have to ask, did Pulisic screw your wife or something?

Back from the game. What can I say that hasn’t been said already? Cracking atmosphere at the away end, we tried hard to push the boys forward but it wasn’t to be tonight. We played our part, so 10/10 for the away fans.

I wasn’t sure about the lineup to begin with. Can’t get my head round as to how we were playing 3 at the back and wingbacks with the players on the field.

A shoutout to Kepa, who gave us the point with some saves. He’s in form and may it last for long. I can’t see Mendy taking his place any time soon.

Broja was very good technically, strong and very up for it. I thought it was harsh to sub him rather than Havertz, who had another bad game. He needs game time to improve some aspects of his game, but he looked good.

The subs brought some energy and I think that both, Pulisic and Carney made us play better. I think that particularly Carney Chukwuemeka looked good and deserves to be more involved. I’m not inspired by Puli, but I think that he brought something different to our game and made us more dangerous in the box together with Carney.

Finally, they’ve got a nice stadium and good beer on the tap. Friendly atmosphere everywhere. I enjoyed the ground and it’s location. Nowhere beats West London.

Given his inability to finish it wouldn't matter if he had.

I hadn't even mentioned Pulisic, I'm surprised his cheerleaders are acting Like he's proved me wrong and asking me to praise him.

I'm even more surprised MOTD didn't dedicate a section to Pulisics 27 minutes or that none of the usual player rating websites seem to have seen what they saw.

It was a decent performance off the bench but nothing noteworthy or memorable or really worth discussing really.

Another aspect of our play I didn’t like is that we weren’t using long balls as we’ve done under Potter in the first few games. It looked like we tried to mix things up in previous matches but tonight didn’t try it when Brentford were pressing high. A shame as I thought that it was interesting to be more diverse in how we play from the back.

Potter got his selection and tactics mostly wrong for the second game in a row, only Brentford did not mess up like Villa did to bail us out.

Frank Lebouf and Mario Melchiot critiquing our performance, saying we should have targeted the slow Ben Mee and our tactics were wrong.

They also slammed the ref and VAR for not giving the penalty call for the push on Carney. Comparing it to the one pool got tonight and calling both blatant.
