I think if you are going to buy a forward from Serie A for a premium fee it has to be Lautauro Martinez. I find this whole fascination with a “20 goal” striker a bit odd, Klopp never had one throughout his stay at Liverpool. Arteta bought Jesus thinking he was going to be that guy but he has been shafted to the wings lately. Personally I’d rather we spent big on an Eze/Kudus that can play on the LW & as a 10 and can potentially score 10+ league goals. If we want to go crazy on a CF, offer that money for Isak.

I think we need a striker whether it be Osimhen, Martinez, Sesko etc. there are a few teams that play a system where a striker isn't the focal point but generally the best teams throughout history have had a top striker and the system that Poch plays we need a goalscoring striker, Jackson is fine to an extent but he isn't good enough to lead the line at the minute.

Sesko has a set release clause which is much lower. Also Dovbyk is intriguing if a relationship can be developed with Mudryk as Ukrainian teammates
May 6, 20242 yr Jackson is already levels above Sesko, which means Jackson would yet again be our #1 going into next season.
May 17, 20242 yr Chelsea and Paris St-Germain both see the signing of Victor Osimhen [25[ as a priority this summer. Victor would surely get more money with PSG and also Champions League football guaranteed every season. Should we be going after who Napoli see as the Victor replacement? Controversial but--- does anyone know if Chelsea have any interest in Mason Greenwood [22] Napoli, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are keen on signing Greenwood. Napoli are looking at Samu Omorodion [20] who plays for Atletico Madrid and who has been on loan at Alaves this season, as a possible replacement for Osimhen. What do we know about Samu?

Leaving aside the off-field issues, we're already well stocked with this type of player. And I suspect the "interest" from big clubs is largely his agent on a beat-up mission. At MU he fell into the promising category and he hasn't done anything spectacular in Spain.

I agree 14 goals isn't bad but we have Jackson who scored 14 goals in his first season in a much harder, if not more dynamic league in a country he's never played in before. Also the rumour I just saw on the beeb about him waiting out to see which team will pay him more doesn't really fill me with optimism as he's still supposed to be young and learning his trade. I really think we need to put Jackson as front and center, yes we need another striker imho. But someone with experience to guide this young star we already have in Jackson. If they manage to improve on the chances he missed by 15-20% (just guessing, but cant be far off), he'd have the golden boot. The golden boot for someone soo raw, in his first season. Imagine that! First half of the season or for even longer it still felt he was playing street football at the community centre by his house. Lol Imho...we need someone with experience and intelligence to pass the wisdom learned and gained over to Jackson. If giroud was only a few years younger for example... June 3, 20242 yr I'm not sure how much Jackson can improve yet Osimhen is not the answer and we might end up in a Lukaku MKII situation.
June 3, 20242 yr Whatever happens next season it can't start with Jackson as our main striker, it feels like the people who still think he should be starting haven't learnt anything for the past god knows how many years. Although I don't think Osimhen will be coming here. Edited June 3, 20242 yr by timetowaste
June 3, 20242 yr Had an injury-hit season. Worth noting that the majority of his 15 goals came against either lower-mid table teams, or teams propping up the comp like Frosinone and Sassuolo, and they are poor, very poor, believe me. In fact, the highest-ranked teams he scored against were Fiorentina and Roma. And one against Barca in the CL.
June 3, 20242 yr Victor has a release clause in his contract that can be activated for £113 million. We need a striker --- But Victor is not worth that. Let him go to Arsenal or PSG or most likely some Saudi club.

Not sure how well he fits Marescas requirements from a 9 either Glad we’re seemingly moving on
July 3, 20242 yr We know that Napoli literally can’t afford to pay the wages they put Osimhen on to get the bigger release clause. This strategy will work less and less as the new reality of PSR football sets in. What worried me is they will play a game of chicken and let this drag out to see his desperate Napoli get to the end of he window, and then miss other targets. Now, if this means missing Duran, then great. Balotelli vibes with that one but with less talent. I actually like Openda and David. I don’t even want to go 70m for a striker from Italy fresh off a “downed tools” season, much less at massive wages. If we are going to stretch our wage structure at all it should be for Nico Williams
July 5, 20242 yr Big Rom wants to go to Napoli to be with his Conte. AND Napoli have a very expensive striker for sale and they might be willing to lower their price apparently - as in nobody wants to over pay for him and Napoli cannot afford to keep him.
