If his release clause is 110m plus then we should be going for Alvarez at City.

He's proven in the league and is getting better and better.

Haaland being the main man there might tempt him.

Really? I think he has been quite average this season tbh. I know sometimes he plays as the second striker and not as the main forward but even when he has led the line, I think he has struggled a fair bit this season in the PL. I watched their PL game against Newcastle and Luton most recently and I thought he was poor. In the league this season he has 5 goals from open play. He is also playing for a team that creates more chances than anyone and always has the ball so imo his goal record this season has not hit the expectancy level. I also don't think he would work as the main CF here. Different ball game compared to playing for City.

What's the gist? His stans are saying he is contributing every match in AFCON whereas his critics are saying he is missing chances Torres would feel ashamed of.

He is a volume striker like Halaand that shoots a lot and misses a lot of big chances. He has missed 5 big chances at AFCON and is having 4.3 shots per game. He is way off the radar though cos he is hardly hitting the target at 0.7 shots on target per game. Normally you would expect him to be having around 1.5 shots on target per game.

Feels like another Werner situation.

To be fair I'm fairly sure there's a significant correlation among forwards between 'number of big chances missed' and 'number of shots taken'. Probably worth noting that the players who take more shots generally tend to score more goals.

WhoScored doesn't have a 'big chances' statistic, but you get the idea:

Might just be; personally would go with Toney if keeps scoring & if we can do a at £50m (one year left in the summer). My issue with Osimhen is you take out the Serie A tax and he is probably an average forward. We are talking £100m+ and a min £250k/w wages based on 1 exceptional season in Serie A. Lukaku had 2, and look how that turned out.

If anyone cares, this is from this season (adjusted for Everton's points deduction):

(The weird skews in the goals tally are Newcastle scoring loads and being 10th, and Man Utd scoring f**k all and being 8th).

He's had 4 prolific seasons in 3 different leagues tbf.

Toney is the only sure thing right now and IDK how much we can convince him to join us over Gooners.

100% agree. And looking at the stats tables in Plokoon's posts above just confirms it.

Are you sure? Only hit 20+ league goals once in his career, only hit 15+ league goals once in his career.

22/23 - 31 goals/5 assists (Napoli) g/a every 84 minutes

21/22 - 18 goals/6 assists (Napoli) g/a every 96 minutes

19/20 - 18 goals/6 assists (Lille) g/a every 125 minutes

I’m pretty sure Osimen will be joining us in the summer. No inside info whatsoever but I don’t see him going anywhere else unless Madrid go for him.

Think you're right.

Been rumoured to come here for a while, now he's said he's made his decision, plus Drogba hugging him like a long lost brother at AFCON. I'm probably putting 2+2 and making 5, but all the signs suggest he's coming.
