Andrey Santos Signs for Chelsea

Featured Replies

Andrey scored again this evening, and is now up to nine for the Ligue 1 season.

Strasbourg had a very good 4-2 home win against Lyon and are now up to 5th, and breathing down the neck of 2nd/3rd/4th !

Excellent game from Petrovic again btw ; 9 saves from 11 Lyon shots on target (their 2nd goal was a penalty)

What happens if they finish 2nd? Do they get CL football?

CL places for 1st/2nd/3rd

CL Qualifiers for 4th

6th place gets Conference League (not colour coded)

I call them out for all the things they have, and continue to do, wrong. Only fair I give the ownership/directors their flowers on this one.

Andrey looks a top, top talent. As our resident Vasco fan told us from the start. In an ideal world Chelsea would be strong enough to not need him right away, he helps Strasbourg get to the CL and stays there another season as he is clearly developing beautifully there.

However we don't have that luxury and we do need him so I hope he comes back, is not sold and plays often. Him and Caicedo could be an unbelievable partnership.

Has me hoping for the what if we had Kante paired with Essien.

Chelsea's owners may have to pause their involvement in Strasbourg as both teams are in with a shot of playing in the same European competition.

If Strasbourg finish 2nd and we finish 3rd or lower, they are prioritized into the CL over us. BlueCo would have to comply with UEFA demands or meet this fate.

It would be hilariously tragic if we go on an awesome run only to finish 3rd and be booted out of the CL...by our own sister club

I noticed that it's the transfer fee that is too low to sell him, and not that he is vital to keep for football reasons

Yes I didn't much care for the way that article was written/briefed either !

We would be incredibly stupid not to even try a Santos/Caicedo midfield pairing.

My choice, if a midfielder has to leave, would be to sell Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid 😀

Could the board try a technicality like the one that let Girona and City play the CL being sister clubs? I think that it was based on a percentage of Girona's ownership, which they had to sell to be lower than the minimum threshold.

Yes, although that is UEFA's rule rather than a technicality, since letting in RB Leipzig/RB Salzburg back in 2017. The owners would have to divest a controlling interest in one of the clubs and surrender control of player movement between the clubs.

That was easy for CFG (think they dropped their share to 40%, and Guardiola's brother is a part owner...) but Girona wasn't relying on loans or transfers from Man City, whereas BlueCo are relying on moving players between Strasbourg and Chelsea.

Thanks for the clarification.
