Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

We're playing both depending on the situation and phase of the play.

Football is no longer black or white and we play with 1 formation and it's a regimented structure ,it depends on the opposition and situation we're in.

Pochettino even said in an interview that we are looking to play with a 3 when we have the ball and it probably looks like a 4 when we don't with Collwill left back.

You are lost if you don't see a back 3 formation there, lost. The end.

FFS - You even have Thiago Silva, who played in the game and took part in the tactical brief and instructions, saying that it was a 4 - and you are still arguing, relying on a random website that has Enzo as winger.

Yes there were 3 CBs playing, but they were not playing as centre backs. Disasi and silva were the cbs, Colwill LB and gusto rb. In attack, Gusto would then push up, and colwill would come in a bit more central to sure up the middle.  Chilwell was winger.

We play a 3 at the back when we have a lot of the ball depending on the team and situation we are in.

Chilwell is playing further forward because we don't have a natural wide man infront of him and we're currently playing more of an inside 8 or 10 there who play more centrally with a bit of freedom. Gusto is playing more of a natural full back because we have Sterling infront of him.

When we don't have the ball Gusto comes back and it pushes Colwill out to left back which makes a back 4 so we defend as a 4 and not as a 3.

Here's the interview where Pochettino specifically mentions this, there's alot of variables and its not just one or the other.

It's true and it's also natural for Chilwell look like a "winger" when wing-backs naturally push a lot forward, he and James were doing it even without having 3 Central defenders behind them. We do play like a back 4 at times but it's very clear that it's a back 3 most of the time since most of the time we do have possession and we did have over 70% vs N.Forest.

Getting fed up with this "back 3", "we are playing back 4 with chilwell as the inverted playmaker, etc" talk tbh.

Doesn't really matter what we are playing, the main point is having 5 defenders on the pitch regardless of their roles is not the best use of the players we have in the squad.

Chilwell isn't playing as a wing back. He has next to no defensive responsibility in his role.

Your argument was we need to stop playing a back 3 for Enzo's sake. We're playing the same system that we did against Liverpool when Enzo shone.

You should have said ' i want to see players in their natural positions', not 'we need to stop playing back 3' because you are categorically wrong about that regardless of your own opinion.

Have to say I am surprised Enzo is not on the Golden Ball shortlist for either the main award or young award.

Young player or the tournament and won the world cup, superb first half a season with Benfica.

Sure he has not been pulling up trees for us but usually the world cup plays a huge role in this award.

If you play with 5 defenders on the pitch you're playing with a back 5, doesn't matter how much you want to twist it. Chilwell doesn't play like a winger because he isn't, Colwill is naturally playing more centrally than an LB because he's a CB..

The point is, we are playing with too many defensive players.

Surely you’re on a wind up?

No it seems perfectly logical don't you think? Out of all of our players to pick on and call a flop, it's obviously Enzo Fernandez.

I'm convinced that the whole squad would benefit if we would just stop playing this thing we're doing. I prefer to see us lose with a 4-2-3-1 formation if we are supposed to lose, it can only get better in due time but like this, you don't really see that your club actually spent and sold players for a really high amount of money, what should happen is a fresh start but we're not seeing it due to this post-Tuchel syndrome that is actually traceable to a post-Conte era.

FFS Sarri came in after Conte and without spending a single worrying thought changed the formation while having a much worse squad than we have now, Poch needs to dare to actually trust in the talent he has on his disposal.

It's not a case of the formation, there's no rigid structure with the formation it's flexible it's more of a case of personal and the traits of the players.

He could drop Colwill and play Chilwell at centre/left back but then you lose Colwills ability to break the lines with his passing. You could drop Silva and play Colwill more central but then you lose all that experience and personality on the pitch. Drop Disasi and play Silva out right but then you lose all that pace or Colwill but then you have a left footed player on the right.

Chilwell is currently captain, he's not getting dropped.

It's up to the manager to decide which personal is right for the games we have and he's probably just not confident in Mudryk to perform what's needed on a pitch from a tactical perspective.

Look, the Forrest game was a big bump in the road. I simply think arguing about formations with a manager who is clearly trying different styles to get us competitive isn't going to help. We got another stinking international break and hoping we look more compact and solid when we return.

the Poch will eventually work out his best 11, Im hoping Fernandez doesn't want out at this early stage as per a couple of reports. Im hoping he has a few more gears to go up as well...

Why would he want to leave? It can only be the dreadful English weather.
