Enzo Fernandez - not wanted in England, the Falklands or probably Argentina now

I had about 3% faith in that penalty going in. Which went down to 1% when I saw his stupid run up.

Yeah, when the penalty was awarded I thought, "ooh, who's gonna take it?". Didn't expect it to be Enzo and just had a feeling he'd miss.

Could we bring Hazard back - just to take penalties?

Surely we have other players in the team who can take penalties reliably. Sterling or Jackson maybe?

I would guess Reece and Nkunku were our chosen penalty takers.

Of the ones out there no idea if Jackson is a good pen taker, I thought captain Chilwell would be the taker.

It never looks good when a player runs straight up to the ball for a penalty, shuffles, stutters, and then hits a fluff shot.  Funny thing is earlier in the game he mish*t two passes, and just looked like he had the wrong boots on all day.

Tough one - he should be scoring goals for us from midfield by now.  We need more - he can certainly do that, but I expect a lot more output.

Like everyone else, piss poor in the 2nd half, and missing a penalty that could've (probably not) changed the game for us is a bitter taste.

Still, can't believe some of the rubbish I've read in the matchday thread and here, he was excellent in the first half until the penalty miss, the quality is clearly there.

Why is he on all of our set pieces? Chilwell's corners are better, but Enzo is on them. He's on our freekicks, but I haven't seen him take a good freekick yet and he's on our penalties too, which looks like another wrong call.

Other than the PK (which he took horrendously) his corner kicks and free kicks were pretty good (Chilwell is good too of course). Nevertheless, i do think that missed quite a lot of passes (specially in the 2nd half).

From the penalty miss onwards, his performance degraded. He is still very much a young player who will by definition be inconsistent.

Look at the difference between the 2 halves. First half he had 2 midfielders fighting alongside him in Conor and Carney. After Carney's injury we went down to a 2 man midfield by bringing on Mudryk, and we lost control of the game. Caicedo clearly wasn't ready. I think we would have done much better bringing on Ugochukwu instead at HT. That being said Enzo showed his inexperience the way he let his head drop second half.

Surprised by the negativity on his corners, I thought they've been decent. Let's not forget he put in a MOTM performance a week ago. I thought the tactics were all wrong after Caicedo came on. He was way too high up and lost in a sea of West Ham giants. He's better a bit further back but just not TOO far back.

Biggest disappointment was the way he let the penalty miss affect his play thereafter. Chalk it up to youth. He does play a lot of good passes and works hard but i do not think his overall contribution any better than Conor so far, may even be less, and Conor would show more resilience. Enzo will need to get his standard up there is a lot of competition in that midfield

Comfortably our best midfielder and easily the first name on the team sheet.

Enzo's been our best player almost every match since February, god this forum has become reactionary.

Never a truer word.

That penalty run up was absolutely awful.

Their guy did the exact same thing to score 3-1. It was that gambling man. Maybe he rubbed it in as well.

Another unintended consequence of splurging major on a player. Unconscious bias, as humans we all have this and his team mates will feel (rightly or wrongly)that he should be given first dibs.
