November 26, 20232 yr The reality is it that it was always going to be a tough first season with so many young players; thinking that we were going to end up in the top 4, 6 or 8 was a pipe dream even if you had Pep at the wheel. Our only chance of Europe is winning a domestic cup. Young players are generally always inconsistent, brilliant one game, slack off the next. As I have said some weeks ago, while we may have been unlucky in some games and dropped points in games you would expect us to win, our inconsistency together with the teams around us picking up points when we drop them, will leave us flapping around mid-table until we can put a string of results together; despite who the opposition is, that task is proving to be harder than first thought. We need to beat Brighton next week and at least grab a point at Utd, who have by anyone's sense of imagination have been jammy all season picking up wins when they have been shocking. All we can do is hope Potch can turn it around and get some consistency in the side.
November 26, 20232 yr On the whole, given the level of squad transition, amount of young and unproven players, injuries…Poch has done a really good job. We’ve seen improvements in the play and results. Plus our performances vs the big teams have been really good. Yesterday was very disappointing, the manner of the defeat are bad. however we have had a good run. We need to start again and hopefully it will kick start the players. Plus we have Nkunku coming back so I think we will be ok. I don't think we will make top 6 - are we better Villa, Newcastle, Brighton and United? Maybe Brighton but not the other teams. Spurs are likely one a downward slope now. We’re on the right track though.

With Pochettino having some say on signings, and getting a preseason, is he doing a better job than Potter did in the league?
November 26, 20232 yr Poch said the team would not have a day off and would train in the morning yet Jackson is seen celebrating with Villarreal today. Make it make sense.

Provided I did not miscount: Pochettino first 13 league games - 16 points. Potter first 13 league games - 19 points. Yup we are heading in the right direction.

November 26, 20232 yr Fabrizio has leaked from the club that everyone on the board, as well as directors, fully back and believe in Pochettino as the man to lead the project forward and there are no thoughts of sacking him. Fabrizio did that for the club last season about Potter as well.

Either paints him as a paper yes man with little authority, or a manager with no backbone or discipline himself. Either way very Potter esc vibes again and not good...

Yeah Potter gave them like 3-4 days off after losing to Saints at home I remember.

The squad that Potter took over was a champions league winning and Potter benefited from new manager bounce for about 10 games. After that, it was all downhill. Poch, you can see that he is doing the right things and improvements are there to be seen. The owners stripped everything back to such a low level that it’s going to take time with so many youngsters.

Yes they are, Potter had no preseason, a preseason TT and the new owners clashed on horribly and het got to make 0 signings.

November 26, 20232 yr I've definitely expected more from Poch so far but I'm happy to give him more time. We've had a lot of injuries to deal with, however, nearly in December and we're still mentally fragile which is something Poch hasn't addressed well. There will come a point where Poch needs to be questioned but I don't think the time is now, although he does need to change something because we don't handle adversity well and defensively we're all over the place, not to mention we have a superb midfield and he doesn't seem to know how to use them.

Everyone given the job deserves time. Potter deserved more time than he got, he deserved it season, things only got worse under Lamps. Pochettino deserves the season to. Imo he will fail and get replaced but regardless of that opinion I still feel he deserves the season.

Not to mention we let in quite a few in the 6 games of his final season.

By the time Potter was sacked, we were close to safe in the league and were showing perhaps a few signs of improvement. I think he deserved the chance to lead us into the Champions League games against Real Madrid at least and we may as well have let him see out the season. I doubt we would have done any worse.

Potter deserved the sack by Chelsea standards, but if Lampard was the replacement to save the season, then there's no way Potter should have gone. I think potential replacements aren't thought about enough when making the decision to let go of a manager.
November 27, 20232 yr Getting beaten by Newcastle at their shop doesn’t define our season or poch’s future. Nor does the position on the table. It was a poor performance but that happens to every team. The trend generally has been ok. However Poch is still hiding from big decisions and I still don’t think the selections are all that good. The right defensive lineup needs sorting.

Will Silva start for Brighton? Nope. Badi? This version. Nope. Cucu? 😵💫😵💫😵💫 James yes. Ugo? No. Enzo? Yes. Gallagher? Yes Sterling? Yes Palmer? Yes Jackson? No. Edited November 27, 20232 yr by Bob stark
