Nonsense, sure everyone wants CL football again but the way he puts it isn't real. The owners haven't seen us being close to that level, they took over while we actually were a CL team which is a different story but since then they proceeded to kick out and rebuild the club in every possible way so wishing something means nothing if you don't know how to do it.

They might just best Roman at one thing, sacking more managers in less time.

Seems like every year we'll be having a mass squad clear out with these shocking owners. For me the answer is simple you back Poch. He has a 2 year deal let him see it out and develop the players. After the 2 seasons we review and assess the situation.

Looking at the objectives top 4 was never realistic and top 6 is looking unlikely too at this point. The squad is not good enough plain and simple even with all the injured players.

Sterling, Palmer and Nkunku are the only proper attackers, we've over spent on 2 young midfielders who might be the future but the funds would have been spent better improving the squad in general. £200m on two midfielders when we could have sorted our attack out is beyond negligent.

Mudyrk and Madueke are a combined +>£100m it's just beyond careless. I don't know who's been advising them but they've been screwing our club over.

Thinking Jackson would be the answer is delusional, he's got potential but he is not a starting striker for a top 4/top 6 club he lacks killer instinct.

Poch will lose or drop points with this squad because despite creating high quality chances there isn't enough players with killer instinct to finish the chances.

Our best hope is Pochettino gets a tune out of them all so we can finish as high as possible, the owners then back him which from the looks of things would be Poch wanting established players or mature/prime aged players to come into the team now and help the kiddies compete either from January or he summer

Agreed with all that. Not just Mudryk/Madueke but buying all these young players for a combined expensive price when many may never even come close to our first team. Fine to have a few players like that (we did the same under Roman) but balance is important and we needed a few players who could come straight into the first team. We arguably got lucky in that respect with Palmer as he has proven so far to be a young player with very little experience who was ready to be thrown into the deep end. Our best chance for European qualification this season might be Europa Conf League but at some point we would need to put in a decent run of wins to achieve that. Even if we finish mid-table I'd give Poch another season as long as we are showing signs of progress in terms of our play.

They are free to want whatever they want.

They won't be getting it though, and when that failure sets in players like Conor and Colwill will be sold to avoid us breaking FFP imo.

Those 4 goals we let in were just so...unprofessional...amateur.

What are Pochettino and his coaches doing?

What sort of defensive line was that for Isaks goal? How was Lascelles given so much space? How is Sanchez rooted to his goalline after Silvas mistake? Why is Badiashile just standing off Gordon?

Time after time we are just standing there saying to Newcastle "go on then, have a goal on us".

Sounds daft but it’s being rumored that is the expectations. CL or bust.

If true then it only leaves me to believe the board are worried about FFP. Which begs the question why build a squad of inexperienced footballers if the goal is to compete?

Would have they passed the fit and proper ownership tests had the government not been so hell bent on stripping the club from Roman ASAP?

Ah I think I will just start thinking of this group, and the club, as I did at the end of Potters time and Lamps as caretaker. Season is over.

Hopefully makes me as happy as @Munkunkuis with it all, win, loss or draw:

Because the owners are clueless. They bought a team that was already a consistent qualifier for the Champions League. Then they binned the manager, and most of the coaching staff, before spending large sums trying to rebuild from scratch with a mostly unproven set of players. If they truly think it will all just magically come together and we will land back in UCL we are in more trouble than I thought.

Think its best to just let Poch work with these players for the remainder of his contract and develop them, if the plan is still to invest in these young players.

With every passing matchweek I am seeing the same mentally weak players that look unprepared. That is down to the manager imo.  Don't think Poch will be or should be that man to continue after his contract.

Should have just let Potter carry on rather than pay him off and hiring his Argentine equivalent

The owners just keep brining in people not suitable to the task. In the boardroom, trainers, scouts, coaches and players.

Shocking waste on money.

I don't think there's any guarantee of UCL qualification in the PL. You have clubs like Villa, Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham, then Brighton last couple seasons in top 6 form, it was never gonna be any easier, even if Tuchel was still in charge.

Then who will be the next manager? Can't keep bringing in coaches hoping things change.

And James. He is our most tradeable asset currently. Would I be surprised? Not at anything anymore unfortunately

Maybe having done that at the Dodgers and got lucky they assumed that's all there was to it.

Also, when the f**k is this getting sorted?

I said this last week, we don't play zonal, it's some weird hybrid thing which players don't seem to understand, so many playersbare left unattached. Smacks of a coach trying to be a clever arse.

9 goals in 3 games, and Spurs, City and Newcastle all should have scored more but missed very presentable chances.

Shows how bad Fulham are going forward that they could not score against us lol.

My biggest concern with Pochettino is that I feel he is not a manager willing to take any risks.

A midfield three of Enzo, Caicedo, Palmer would be just perfect for a manager like Klopp.

Klopp's teams have always had suspect players defensively in key areas but his tactics never changed. Here I talk about Salah who was never the first to track back, or his full backs who were always more like wing backs, rather than defenders.

As a matter if fact his only defensive oriented players were always the two midfielders (Fabinho and Henderson) and the two centre backs.

But with Pochettino I feel he will always play certain players to protect others and play others out of position because of that. For example, I think we will hardly ever see Gallagher on the bench because Pochettino will not risk an Enzo - Caicedo pivot with Palmer as the "10". And will always have Colwill at left back to protect Thiago Silva.

And this is so frustrating.

My biggest fear is that once Nkunku is back, Pochettino will have him on the left wing, shift Sterling to the right wing and put Palmer on the bench to have Gallagher as the third midfielder. Nightmare.

This season 😂😂😂

Then why signed Palmer, Mudyrk, Madueke, Jackson, ugo, etc2?

The majority of people on here predicted us to get top 4 in the pre-season poll.

Given that we don't have European football to deal with, not getting top 6 this year for the 2nd time in a row would be very poor. We have a better squad than the likes of Aston Villa and Brighton.

Poch is not the problem, as Potter wasn't the problem.

Neither are the players.

The problem is the owners. They've been very naive, to put it lightly.

They've had very poor judgement and shoe they are clueless when it comes to football.

If it wasn't a club I support, I'd be laughing as it is almost comical to see the decline in a club competing in champions League and with a shout at top 4 when they took over.

it has been like that for 4 years...all different types of defending but still the same results (two players Left unmarked in our box)
