November 25, 20232 yr 2 weeks to prepare and that is the display we get. Am sure we get the "need to work hard" comments. 16 points so far this season is not good enough.
November 25, 20232 yr As I have said before, and I still stand by it, I don't believe Pochettino is a good enough manager to take us to the very top of the mountain again. That may not be the aim of our ownership though.

Yep, same goes for when we have no European footballer and people saying not having the extra game will help us. No, it just means we are sh*t and couldn't qualify.

No one ever talks about no European football being an advantage for Luton, think some people haven't mentally processed just how bad our squad is and still have the mentality we're a good team full of talent and that just isn't reflective of what we've seen on the pitch for over a year now. Don't think a world class manager would get much out of these players until they become the finished article or a couple of world class players are added to the team.
November 25, 20232 yr The issues we saw today are the things we have seen for years at this club, which is weird since the majority of the squad haven't even been here very long! We keep having these games where we look leggy, taken sleeping tablets, a yard off the pace and opposition are running like they could run for days. It happens to us more than any other team. I know we travelled up to to Newcastle, but that doesn't stop every other club going there and putting in 100% effort. Chelsea do all of the running for one game and decide to have the next game off, like they have already done what they needed to achieve. It's nothing new, it's been a common theme for most of the decade, the only difference is that we no longer have the players to get us a win when we play bad.

Getting himself put in the stands sets a bad example, James and Cucurella got themselves suspended for Brighton by being ill disciplined as well.

That seems to be the case, although neither have really done enough to suggest they deserve to start yet. They both have decent speed, and some skill, but poor decision making. I would say at this stage at least one if not both would probably benefit from a loan in the short term.

Then what is the plan here? If Poch doesn't rate them nor trusts them, what are we doing? Pep managed to get underperformers out of the club almost overnight, which has helped them sustain their success. See Nolito, Danilo, Fernan Torres, Angelino, Eric Garcia, Bravo, Diaz, Iheanacho, etc, etc, etc. Loan or get rid. We cannot have Chilwell at LW and shifting Gallagher at RW so Palmer can play CAM.

I’d agree with you normally but Boehly & Clearlake put us in a dangerous situation with the spending, to the point where we can’t really cut our losses on players. We’ve done it with Lukaku, can we really do the same again with Mudryk & Madueke?

I'd agree with that but it's much harder to get rid of the players you've brought in because it requires admitting you were wrong and also because we've given so many flat out terrible prospects such long contracts why would they leave? In January I'd love to see Mudryk, Madueke and Broja all depart, Fofana too if we could get a fee for him because I simply don't see any future where they're part of a successful team, not now or in 5 years time. We don't trust Poch like City do Pep and we've heavily backed these duds so I think we've made our bed even if that bed is much much lower than where we should be sleeping.

I honestly have no idea how half the young players that we have signed will be integrated. Don't forget all the players that are out on loan or have yet to join the squad.

Lets not forget he got a 1 match ban for pointlessly berating the officials off the field when Gusto was sent off against Villa. Apparently he learnt nothing and he is captain. If he cannot demonstrate a cool head and leadership then he needs to be replaced as captain.
November 25, 20232 yr I stayed well away from anything football this weekend and I will probably do the same next week too. My happiness is so much better. Edited November 25, 20232 yr by El regreso

If they were really expecting to make UCL perhaps they should have thought about that before decided on what amounted to a total rebuild of the squad. Changing manager would also likely only set us back at this point too.
November 25, 20232 yr We won';t make top 10, let alone top 4. And if we get a points deduction, then relegation is a real possibility.
November 25, 20232 yr Scored a few goals recently, but the defence has gone to sleep. The first 2 goals are very preventable, just basic marking and stepping up, and a few players failed to do the basics. Silva is getting old, no hiding for that, but then again who you really trust in our legion of expensive youthful defenders. Expect Gallagher, Enzo to chip in a few goals which never came. Jackson is still raw despite recent runs. Let's face it, Poch got an insanely expensive team filled with average and young players, and owners expect top 4 from that this season?
