Chelsea 23/24 Season Friendlies Match Thread

Featured Replies

Don't know..these ding dong ping pong type of games tell you the teams involved are not winning anything important. Young sides naturally and it is sort of exciting but no great side is part of a game like this.

Yes but Silva/Colwill don't exactly fill me with optimism either, offensively we look decent

We need to sign a CB with Fofana injury. For sure

Cucu just seems like a really unintelligent player. Zero brains at all.

Doesn't know when to hold and when to press, never seems to have a clue about his surroundings or how the other defenders are set up. He's like a free roaming defender.

Anyway our style of football is exciting, excellent, breath of fresh air. Pochettino said earlier, today and next game Will Be hard because players will be exhausted. Didn't look like it to be fair.

So exciting to see us being decisive, active and well..good.

Pochettino making us wait to see Nkunku and Jackson together. Suppose we still have 3(?) more games to go on this tour.

Happy for Mudryk, exactly the kind of appearance he needed for us.

Anyone know why we haven't seen Noni yet?

Well, just about got there in the end. Good workout for the players, much tougher than Wrexham, anyway.

Overall thoughts: Obviously hard to take much from friendlies. The issues we've had for years haven't disappeared in a matter of weeks, they are still there, but there are signs of slow progress, which is good.

Positives:

- Mudryk goal - Will do him the world of good. Looked sharp as well.
- Jackson - Nice link-up play, and took his goal well
- Angelo - Surprised by this guy, but he looks pretty decent. Could maybe take Ziyech's spot in the squad?

Negatives
- Sterling - Praying for a bid from Saudi Arabia
- Cucurella - Unfortunately still looking poor. Dives in all the time and gets beaten. At fault for the last goal.

Pretty much summed it up for me too. Although would also like a Saudi bid for Cucu. 😂

Extended break because of his involvement with England 21's

My only negative is the defence, based on that we'll ship goals - but we actually look like a team that can outscore the opposition

That 2 week fitness camp might be paying off already
