Who the f**k was responsible for signing this guy? And why??

Dogsh*t poor with the ball at his feet yet we paid over the odds for him and gave him a long contract on decent money.

What with Maresca seemingly wanting a ball player (as did Poch), this transfer becomes ever more baffling.

The worst transfer under the new administration. How the hell do we offload the gormless f**ker?

Sanchez's remaining book value is only £18m and is only on £50kpw according to Spotrac.

I think he's a lot easier to offload than most think. Likely will break even or take a loss.

I agree. (He is £60K a week on Spotrac btw, but what's a bit of loose change LOL).

I'd be more worried about shifting Chilwell. Sanchez's wages for the remaining 6 years of his contract are equivalent to about a season and a half of Chilwell's wages ...

If we decide to make Chilwell available I don't think we will have a problem selling him. His book value cannot be much and I could see sides such as United, Newcastle and Villa being interested.

And I'll be perfectly fine with him as an backup to a top new keeper anyway, so meh.

We hired Ben Roberts from Brighton as GK coach, and Sanchez was his "guy" basically ...

I think the old adage applies : "never trust anyone who concedes a goal inside 45 seconds in an FA Cup Final"

City's recruitment/Txiki putting our directors to shame.

Tossed out Joe Hart at the perfect time. Realized Bravo wasn't the answer within a season. Scouted Ederson and brought in Ortega who could just as well be a #1.

We have four #2's......

Tbh if (big if) we can get our new keeper right this summer Sanchez will be a better #2 than anyone Pep has had before Ortega (which is a fluke situation anyway, best number 2 this league has seen since Cudicini).

Since Cech you mean 😂

FML I actually forgot that situation in the moment of posting 🤣 but for me point still stands, Cech of that season was long past his best in my opinion which he went on to demonstrate at Arsenal.

Oh wow, thought he was on about £100k.

That's better news - cheers.

Another L for TEAMTALK.

Oh boy. Enzo already making some very suspect decisions.

Hopefully he 'likes' him in the context of a number 2 to a new keeper (which would be the right call).

NizaarKinsella is now saying the club expect to stick with Sanchez and Petrovic, Enzo preferring the former.

God Speed, Enzo.

It's going to be a long long long summer around here.

I still believe that GK is not really an utmost priority right now. I also suspect that with Enzo's football compared to Poch's, our backline won't be under the chaotic pressure we saw time and time again.

That being said, Enzo believing Sanchez is the answer just puts more question marks on his judgment. I can see similar situations like Arsenal at home where we could control the entire match and then Sanchez has a bozo moment that lets the opposition back in.

Couldn't agree more. As to the rest, I'm going to pay my usual attention - none - to unverified gossip.

So setting out the cones? Doing the morning coffee run? Warming the toilet seat? So many exciting possibilities for his next phase!

Hilarious. Well at least we won't be seeing boring football. Sanchez, Disasi and Badiashile. What a triumvirate, haha

I suspect this is where the contract length is biting us in the arse. The likes of Disasi, Mudryk, and Sanchez would've been up for sale this window under CityGroup. (We saw it Bravo, Nolito, Torres, etc).

Our directors are probably forcing it until they make it, refusing to believe their precious data driven approach is invalid.

I think that he has actually stated that the goalkeeper is pivotal to how he develops play. I think what is often overlooked is that we have a number of talented players, particularly in our midfield who like to play with the ball but actually have very little recovery to turnovers.  Fernandez, Madueke, Palmer, Mudryk, even Caicedo were found wanting on numerous occasions in tracking back and recovery runs last season. This possession football is all well and good, but who is getting the ball back for us....especially if Gallagher goes.

Nkunku is a great presser of the ball. Could be a case where it's him and Caicedo at #8 and Enzo at #6. Or Gallagher at 8 with Nkunku LW.

Wtf would that next phase be?? NOT passing the ball straight to the opposition striker??
