September 28, 20241 yr Always has a big mistake in him. I really wish we would strengthen this position as we will not get away with such mistakes like today all the time
September 28, 20241 yr I still have no idea how good Jorgensen is but I’d like to see it. Sanchez can’t be trusted, he’s a brilliant goalkeeper but his brain farts are too much. You always get that sense of feeling when he has the ball, he’s going to kick it to their striker. We need to find a goalkeeper who has same composure as Ederson.
September 28, 20241 yr Maresca backed him in the post match probable have to until he gets a better keeper
September 28, 20241 yr Can’t win anything with a dodgy keeper and that’s what he is. Makes some good saves but it’s all undone by his poor lack of judgement. In short he will handicap clubs chances of winning trophies.
September 28, 20241 yr Absolute calamity today. Second half noticed he was kicking the ball firmer on short passes and more often went long. He’s had these moments too often, but hopefully shakes it off. I do think this is a position we need to upgrade.
September 28, 20241 yr If we had a decent number 2 I would agree with dropping him. However we don't. Jorgensen will make similar errors, and Petro was never as good as some rated him to be.
September 28, 20241 yr The fact we were after Maignan in the summer gives me hope the SD’s can see that the position of goalkeeper should be an experienced player. Far too risky a position for all of our current keepers imo. The difficulty is our keeper has to be able to control a ball and pass it quickly under pressure and there aren’t too many quality keepers out there that can do that.

Petrovic still overtook Sanchez last season though, so naturally Ben Roberts had him sent way, making sure we HAVE to play his boy whatever happens Its almost like he’s never forgiven us for the 97’ final and this is his payback Edited September 29, 20241 yr by AndyDowsleftflank
September 29, 20241 yr Petrovic should still be our number one. He just doesnt make the mistakes that Sanchez has that have led to goals. He's not at the club.. Kepa is probably still the best keeper at the club and we may see his skill set at Bournmouth. Sanchez is going to cost us points this season. As for the two goals we conceeeded yesterday. Simply tragic, both individual errors from Sanchez. The first goal he doesnt go through the playes and isnt even near the ball, stays on the line he gathers the header. second goal is a misplaced pass over 5 yards and tries a no look pass doing it. Worst keeper Ive seen at the bridge and I rate Frode Grodas and Kharine as beter than this chap.
September 29, 20241 yr Petrovic wasn't the answer. I just wish we had signed Mamardashvilli instead of Jorgensen ... That ship has sailed unfortunately, so fingers crossed either Jorgensen proves to be better than I think he is, or this young lad Penders is Courtois re-born ....
September 29, 20241 yr Shocking that we went into the season with Sanchez as our number one on goal. Hopefully the board and SDs finally saw what is crystal clear to everyone else and go in for a seasoned, proven keeper for next season.

September 29, 20241 yr He got away with it thanks to Palmer bailing him out. It’s so frustrating because he is a very good goalkeeper if you remove his kicking. I really don’t understand Enzo and the SD’s persisting with Sanchez. He’s such an unnatural fit given the playing style.
September 29, 20241 yr I think Maresca would have liked to have brought Hermandson from Leicester with him, but we already have so many keepers, that are unlikely to be moved on easily. I am not sure that I overly rate any of the keepers that we have, but i think that might be because it is so difficult to find a keeper that ticks so many boxes. I think that we will try Jorgenson soon, although i am not convinced that he is any better and in fact, if you remove the kicking i think Jorgenson is not as good as Sanchez in the other aspects of keeping.

I remember a couple of Leicester fans posting on here that they thought Maresca would want to being their keeper with him. I guess the DoFs talked him into Jorgensen instead LOL. Probably should have left KDH where he was too ... he's not even making the bench now.

He’s definitely not a very good keeper, he’s a good shot stopper, which you can expect from many keepers, but he’s a bad keeper when he gives away stupid goals to opposition. You’d be laughing at Manu and thanking that we dodged the bullet if that had been Onana, but it was Sanchez and he keeps doing it under Poch and under Maresca. It is not down to the coach, it’s him. He’s sh*t and we need to upgrade as soon as possible if we want to progress to a title challenger.

Part of the problem is also "playing out from the back" Normally a keeper wouldn't have tried that pass for the second goal, and f**king around led to the first goal calamity I'm sure Enzo doesn't insist on playing out if the situation isn't on, and would insist players use their football knowledge to not play around at the back when it's not safe to do so. Every week you'll see keepers and defenders giving goals away trying to play out from the back
September 29, 20241 yr Liability keeper. You can’t win the league with goalkeepers that consistently give away poor goals. I’m not even sure we could secure a top 4 spot with him in goal. We literally had to outscore our own defensive mistakes to win that football match yesterday. That is not a good recipe for a wannabe successful team.
September 30, 20241 yr Unfortunately from the training vids I don't think Jorgensen is better than sanchez. Sanchez is a good goal keeper but unfortunately he is prone to brain farts. Jorgensen isn't at his level yet as a goalkeeper. Again imho...only from the ecl game and training vids.
September 30, 20241 yr We might as well just give no.1 to Jorgensen now, instead of slowly bedding him in in the conference league. See if he sinks or swims.

Agree - We cant have a keeper who is consistently costing us goals, by flapping or passing it to the attacking player. Part of this is on the manager and system. We should not ask a gk to play out from the back, if they are not capable of passing under pressure. But this nonsense is here to stay, and therefore, we cant continue with the constant errors. It was the same with Mendy. Mendy as a keeper (i.e making saves, catching crosses) was fine. The issue was he couldnt do it with the ball at his feet. So we got rid. The same is true of Sanchez - who is a bit better with his feet than Mendy, but worse at crosses. Both were not good enough for the system we currently want to play.
September 30, 20241 yr Filip Jørgensen Villarreal CF Villarreal €24.50m Mike Penders KRC Genk KRC Genk €20.00m Robert Sánchez Brighton & Hove Albion Brighton €23.00m Djordje Petrovic New England Revolution New England €16.00m Gabriel Slonina Chicago Fire FC Chicago €9.09m 92.59m spent on goalkeepers under these owners and still we have to watch Sanchez every week, that's just ridiculous for such an important position. Not a single one of these players could realistically be considered a number one for a team with aspirations at the point of us signing them. Its a game of roulette for them and just praying something sticks.
